Celestia, homeworld to the Celestial race, has fallen to a band of traitorous Celestials, as they descended into Infernal being, leaving behind only two; Arannis Desrani, brother to the instigator of its fall, and Eri, the revered Kami of the Divine Light. Only ruins remain around them, the once-glorious world fallen completely.
Arannis sat against a broken pillar, gazing out at the ruins of his home. He was battered to the bone, and tears streamed down his face, as he looked about, unable to stand yet hoping beyond hope that someone might have survived the carnage.

A few pieces of a broken wall crumbled as the Kami pushed it off of her. She stumbled out of the wreckage only to see dust settling on the bodies of thousands laying prostrate around her.
"How...how can this be..."

Arannis gasped, sensing Eri's life force remaining from across the city. He stood slowly, his strength returning to him, as he spread his wings behind him, and took flight, coming to her as fast as he could manage. "Eri, you live! I had nearly lost all hope of another surviving this terrible onslaught..."

Eri's eyes widened as Arannis came into view. "Arannis? Is that you?"
She rubbed the dust from her eyes, not sure if she could believe what she was seeing.
"Celestia...it...its.."

Arannis nearly crashed into Eri, descending rapidly and falling to hug her in an attempt to hide his wings' failure. "I know... I never dreamed he would go against his own home..." He said quietly.

The Kami held onto him, comforting her friend as best as she could. "It wasn't your fault. We were unprepared."
She gazed out at the remnants of her home, tears coming to her eyes.
"Is everyone...gone?"
She couldn't even think of the word, much less say it.

Arannis backed away some, nearly losing his balance as he stumbled over a chunk of the building that had once stood nearby. He held a hand out in front of him, a purple misty orb appearing above it. "Derahci, only..."
The orb split, forming into two identical spheres. Arannis' eyes widened in horror. "No... no, this cannot be..."

Eri's eyes were wide in concern as she peered at the spheres above Arannis' hand.
"What is it? What's wrong?"

"Tanaka... He formed behind my brother."
Arannis came down to his knees, crying.
"He was my best friend, and he stood against his own home..."

The Kami knelt down beside him, reaching an arm out to comfort her friend.
"No one could have predicted this tragedy. Not even our most skilled could have seen this coming."
Her tears continued to fall as well, accumulating on the bloodied ground. She held her other arm to his wounds, trying to heal them as best as she was able to.

Arannis bowed his head respectively.
"I cannot forgive this, Eri. I am not such a being of absolute purity as you are, I am more prone to hatred... I will not allow those two to wreak havoc on all life, as they so clearly demonstrated capability to here. For now, though... we should leave Celestia. It would be best if we were not discovered..."

She nodded and looked upward at the smoke filled sky.
"That is a wise decision. Now that Celestia has been reduced to this state, many others will certainly come. Vultures to our remains."
She turned her attention back to Arannis.
"But where would we go? Nowhere could compare to Celestia. And what of the Fallen? Surely we would have to hide."

Arannis stood, a hand once again in front of him, creating an image of several dimensions. One of them began to glow and expand to take in the full image, showing a view of Gaia.
"This is peaceful enough. It should allow us time to rest and find someplace to stay. Knowing our uncommon fates in our respective homelands, though... I cannot say whether it will last."
He dispelled the image, his head turning to face Eri's own.
"I stand beside you until the day we are forced away in death, Eri. I will follow where you go."

Eri let a small smile escape, despite the situation at hand.
"You are a very kind-hearted individual, Arannis. I am fortunate to have you as a friend. Hopefully Gaia's peacefulness will last. We may have no choice but to keep our identities hidden from the public eye. Hopefully that will keep us relatively safe."

Arannis bit his lip, knowing the truth in her words.
"I never was known by the name I was given at my creation. Always given a title to be called by, or known by the tribal calling. I remain Arannis, though I might have to reform my known identity. Tsieta, perhaps. I know of no such tribe that ever held ground here."
He looked out to the winds.
"What of yourself, Eri?"
