Located in western Kanto, it serves as the hometown of Red, one of the Pokemon Champions, as well as several other notable Pokémon Trainers who begin their Pokémon journeys in Kanto. The small town has only two entrances, one from the north via Route 1 that leads directly to Viridian City, while the other one, Route 21, a water route, to the south.

This town is also home to noted Pokemon Researcher, Professor Oak, and his grandson, Blue.
