Miyu walked into her room. She was thinking about what had happened today. "Hmmm maybe I will see them again." she muttered.

Miri knocked. "Hello?" Her bag clanked against the door, and she picked nervously at her hair, waiting. She sighed and stared at the door, focusing on the intricate woodwork.

Miyu opened the door. "Yes? I'm guessing you need a dorm. Well come on in." she smiled.

"Indeed, thank you for your kindness."
She spoke formal English, as she had been trained to, but it was still alien to her Russian tongue. She almost waddled in, her bags were so heavy. She sat down next to an empty cot.
"I'm new to the school. I ask for your guidance."
Once again, the words rolled off her tongue awkwardly.

Miri smiled a smile so sad, it was close to a frown. She pulled a little stuffed bear out of her suitcase. It was tan, and had a beige ribbon about its neck. "This is a present from me to you." She grinned hopefully, and held the present, arms outstretched, waiting for the girl to take it.

Miyu smiled. "Oh thank you." she said taking the gift. She went through her bag and pulled out a ruby necklace with a red lace. "Here and it is from me to you."

Miri smiled. Someone had seen through her outer awkwardness, and reached out. Back in Russia, those who saw her glanced over her. Whispers. "It's that cursed Miri girl!" They followed her everywhere. But not here, she wouldn't let them. Her thoughts were drifting away. She pulled herself back by nodding and smiling at the girl.
