Ok, I've wondered this for a couple of years now: if Adam and Eve only had Cain, Able, and Seth, how could they "be fruitful and multiply" when there weren't any women except for Eve?

Yeah, like VK said: Adam had daughters. But none played an imporatant role as much as the three guys you mentioned.
And besides, why would we want to read the bible if all it did is talk about every single kid? razz

A Pastor that i know was asked the same question... here is how he answered :
"Adam lived to be 930 (Gen. 5:5). He and Eve could have had hundreds of children in their lifetime. Those children could have had hundreds of children before Adam died.
The Bible does not say how old Cain and Abel were when they married their wives. If the normal lifespan at the time was 700 to 900 years, they might not have been in a hurry to get married when they were 18. If Cain had married at the age of 100, for instance, there would have been time for full grown great grandchildren of Adam and Eve to be eligible for marriage. For a 100-year-old to marry a 20-year-old seems like an abnormal thing today, but it would not seem as abnormal if we were living to be 900! If a person marries today at the age of 25 out of an average lifespan of 75, the equivalent would be for someone in Adam's day to marry at the age of 300 out of an average lifespan of 900. Can you imagine how many women could have been born and fully grown by the time Cain was 300?
Another consideration is the curse upon Eve, when God told her that He would "greatly multiply" not only her sorrow but also her "conception" (Gen. 3:16). With fertility drugs, sometimes today a woman will give birth to several children at once. Who is to say that God did not allow that to happen often, especially at the beginning of the Adamic race? Also, the commandment about not marrying close kindred was not given until later (Lev. 18:6).
~ hope that helped ! heart
