The youthful Cor floated happily towards the location he had picked for the day's lesson he had planned for the newest of the Cors. Ciaran was much more their size and it pleased him to be able to help out the "big guys" as he called them and take on some classes every now and then. Although he was not a strictly new Cor, Ciaran had never grown past the first stage. He just never really felt like hunting enough soul orbs to do so, not that he couldn't if he wanted to. He was sure eventually he would, but for now...he was satisfied as a lowly "newbie" look-a-like. Besides, this way if he got into too much mischief he could always blame it on his age, something he definitely could not do if he were to be older, like Illuser.

Mostly Ciaran spent his days running errands, kind of like a page, but every now and then he got to help. His smile grew larger as he thought about maybe moving up just a little bit in this world called Thareon and the Academy as he floated near the wall, waiting for his student.

Today would be a good day. Even if the student was late or not very bright, Ciaran didn't care - tutoring someone in the ways of the Academy was way more exciting than looking for souls ANY day in his mind.

Endevia drifted awkwardly forward, quite aware that she was late. It wasn’t like her to ever be slow, but today she was feeling slightly… nervous. Nothing ever intimidated her. She loved battle and if anything should be found daunting, battle would be it. Yet, as she thought about it, she had never been in many battles, mostly only viewing them from a distance.

Coming close to the spot she had been told to meet at, Endevia held her breath, preparing herself for the roaring anger of her teacher. As she floated nearer, she opened an eye and was surprised to see her teacher was an Aeon just as she was. And he was… cheerful. This little Aeon simply drifted about in awe of the world.

“A-are you my teacher…?” she groaned in disbelief. Endevia was disappointed in herself for getting so worked up. She had imagined that she would be trained by a Sin-Aeon or something at least… older. Endevia prayed that he would be able to teach her something she didn’t know.

Ciaran couldn't help but chuckle at the stammering and grown of the new Aeon that had appeared and was clearly the student he had been waiting for. The fact that he had opted out of collecting the soul orbs necessary for growing into someone bigger certainly would seem odd to the others, but alas, he had heard rumors that if you waited and took your time you could attain extra power and so that combined with his mischief-causing ways lead him to prefer his Aeon body. It certainly got him treated differently by the other Cors, but that was okay with him. As long as the wait was worth it in the end, of course. Smiling, he floated forward with a nod, "Yup, I sure am."

He tilted his head slightly as his bangs drifted into his eyes and raised an eyebrow in question, "Is there a problem with that?" His eyes held a small challenge for the new Cor, if she had too much of a problem with his being her instructor he would have no qualms about making sure she understood he was quite adept at handling himself in the wilds and was very knowledgeable about the world of Thareon and the ways of the Academy. Vaguely Ciaran thought perhaps he should call Illuser to the lesson after all - perhaps that would help this new one see that she would really prefer him to Illuser. Although, maybe she'd like him more, 'cause he had legs...

Extending a hand towards the Aeon in a simple but friendly gesture he added, "I'm Ciaran. You must be Endevia, right?"

“No, no problem at all.” Endevia regained her stately composure. “I was merely caught by surprise. I suppose I just had envisioned you differently, but one shouldn’t judge on looks alone.”

Endevia studied her instructor. He was an Aeon, obviously, with vibrant scarlet locks and captivating cerulean eyes. Although he appeared slightly childish, there was something about his smirk that said that he knew something.

Taking his hand, she firmly gripped it, giving it a single shake. “Yes, I am Endevia.” With the same hand she used to shake, Endevia began to play with her hair ornaments absentmindedly. She had already felt awkward and only wished that they would begin the lesson so that they wouldn’t have to stand there thinking about any more possible issues they might have with each other. Endevia didn’t want to seem boorish but she could only assume that her teacher was fretting being stuck with such a student. She wasn’t normally this way. In fact, she often tried to be faultless, throwing aside emotion because she figured emotion led to irrational decisions and dangerous relationships. She valued and admired strength. Hopefully, this teacher would be strong.

“So, what’s our first lesson then…?”

Ciaran smiled softly as Endevia composed herself. He was accustomed to people being surprised by his appearance and he had absolutely no intention of explaining why he looked as he did. If Endevia proved herself a useful and successful Cor and wanted to know, he would enlighten her. But not before she made the effort to become a great Cor. If he hadn't decided to grow up by then. And that was a fairly big if. With a simple nod, he confirmed her statement, "People should not be judged based on looks at all."

That was, however, his personal opinion and when the young Cor shook his hand he gave her another friendly smile as she fretted with her hair ornaments. She seemed nervous and that amused him. Should he play a joke or say something funny to loosen her up? Or would that just upset her? Before he could make up his mind, however, she asked what the first lesson was about and he immediately became all about business.

Ciaran floated back and forth, as one would pace if they had legs and went over all the information of the Academy, Thareon and the Soul Orbs. He decided starting simple would likely be the best method and shrugged, "Well, how about a basic lesson on Thareon, the Academy and what you need to grow big and strong?" The Aeon silently added 'Like Illuser' to that, but did not say anything about it. Instead, with giving Endevia barely a chance to respond he dashed into the lesson at hand.

"You currently reside in the Academy, of which there are five, and it lies within The Sanctuary. While you are in the Academy you are 'safe' from the beasts and other scary beings that lie without. The Sanctuary is mostly safe as it is filled with townsfolk and if you have a free day from school you can always head down there to buy things at the Merchant District."

He paused, to allow her to process the information before continuing, "Outside of the Sanctuary, however, reside the great beasts that you will learn to hunt. When you hunt you are looking for both physical and spiritual sustenance. The soul orbs you collect from your kills will be what aid you in growing into a full fledged Cor, complete with legs."

Young Ciaran stopped his pacing and smiled, "Any questions so far?"

Endevia couldn’t help but feel weird. Ciaran just kept giving her that smile… She said something, he smiles. She shakes his hand, he smiles. What was possibly on his mind? Endevia thought about smiling back, but it was pointless. It wasn’t like she never smiled, but she did not feel comfortable enough at the time.

As Ciaran began talking Endevia slowly became more at ease. His constant smiling had stopped, although she though she might have seen the corner of his mouth curl once or twice. Finally they were starting the lessons. That was all she was there for after all, not for making friends. She needn’t worry how he felt about her. True, it’s better to make allies than enemies, and the more he liked her as a student, the better he would teach, but she had been stressing out far too much.

Considering all that her teacher had said, Endevia pursed her lips in thought. She didn’t know very much about anything he was explaining; only the basics. She was afraid of sounding stupid, but, since she was the only one present, figured she would ask questions anyways.

“Do physical and spiritual sustenance relate to each other? Rather, would something physically larger have more spiritual substance than something tinier, like, let’s say a small bird…?”

A strange feeling came over Endevia. Strong emotions. She suddenly felt… sad. Placing a hand on her chest, she took a big breath and slowly let it out like a sigh. She felt lighter now, forgetting the feeling and letting down her hand.

Ciaran felt more than a little amused at Endevia's obvious discomfort. He knew it would be impolite to laugh at the new Cor, though, and so he kept his amusement in check. If she was a keen Cor she might have caught the subtle twinkle in his eyes and the barely there smile where only the outer corners of his lips had pulled up. The movement, however, was minute and so he felt safe in allowing himself that much. Especially since most Cors were too busy worrying about their lesson to really pay all that much attention to tiny details about their instructors. But she could always surprise him, he supposed, and be a particularly astute child. And so the Aeon settled for placing his hands behind his back, as if he were a soldier standing in line for inspection and listened carefully to the girl's words.

He waited patiently as she thought out what she intended to ask and his brows furrowed ever so slightly at her questions. Quickly, though, realization flashed through his eyes as a sudden thought struck him. Was she worried about hunting small, innocent creatures? That was sweet of her, if a but un-Cor-like. When she pressed a hand to her chest he floated a couple inches forward, a flash of concern across his face before he reigned the thought back in.

The teacher took a deep breath before nodding, "The two are directly related. Something larger will provide a much better physical and spiritual sustenance than something smaller." With a reassuring smile he added, "So taking out nasty beasts such as trolls, which are very large, would fill you up much better than a fox or sparrow."

Hopefully that would help her feel better about it. Though he held off on continuing the lesson so he could be sure she was all right before dumping more information out on her.
