Ok so I've got this kind of from a distance crush... I've never said a word to her and I'm really intimidated by her because she's pretty hardcore punk and is probably a year older than me. Should I talk to her? And if so how?

I'm guessing you're in high school or something... If she doesn't know you exist, what hope of being anything to her do you have?
You should just try complimenting her or something to strike up casual conversation and see where it goes from there.
Nothing will happen if you just watch her from afar.
Protip: a one year difference in age does not matter.

hmm. i think you should talk to her. don't dive right in about serious things but just talk to her casually like you would any other person at first. and then once and if you two get to know each other better, then you can decide if your liking of her is "real" i'm not saying its fake but sometimes some people just like people from a distance for the way they act outwardsly. if you know what i mean. but yeah just start talking about simple things that she's interested in. talk about her until she asks about you. etc.
