For the sake of posting something,... (*inhales*), yes, I shaved my cat today. Mostly anyway, I will finish tomorrow. Pics will come after that I guess. Poor Kitten...

Awwww! I love cats! My mom is a vet so I have a lot of experience around them. Did you shave the cat yourself? If you did, I feel more sorry for you than the cat.

I have a cat. But sadly, it is because of the cat that I am not able to get a bunny (I adore bunnies). My gerbil died a few months ago and I guess I feel sad that he never liked me. crying So I wanted to get a bunny. But we can't get one because of my cat. And the fact that our backyard is populated by deadly scorpions, which my dad refuses to kill. We call them his "pets".

@Kapow123-- I LOVE CATS TOO!! The one we have now is quite docile though. I didn't get to finish today because she had stressed a lot and mom told me to just let her be. She doesn't fight much however; I came out with three scratches and a lap full of pee yesterday. She scratched me six times today--maybe. I can even bathe this cat (which she'll be needing that after all of this is over). So feel free to feel more sorry for her instead. We have to shave her because she's of medium length hair and most of us are allergic to her. We bathe her because she's an indoor cat and breeds her own flea circus[es]. Our first cat had been a mostly outdoor cat, but she left home back in 2001. She was old and giving signs, so we assume she trotted into the woods to die. We miss her a lot.

@Crystalbow--I'm sorry for your loss and that your gerbil disliked you. I wish I could sympathize more on the bunnie issue, but I had a bad experience with a pet rabbit that hated me. The breeder told us that all of her rabbits were 'kid friendly,' but mine bit and grunted and scratched soon as we got her home. I became so scared of her that everyday I would drop food through the top of her cage and into her bowl and told her to hope for the best. My dad put her outside and then our uncle's dogs tore into her cage and ate her. I have to admit, I was so glad she was gone (my first thought was, "Hey, God does answer prayer!"). I hope your gerbil wasn't that way. And I hope your bunny isn't either when you do get one. Cats typically live 12-17 years, so you can own one in your lifetime if not theirs. As for the scorpions, I probably wouldn't kill them either. We don't get any, so they seem really cool to us. However, twice a year we're swarmed by ladybugs from the farmer's fields. Kids love them, but we HATE them.

My cat recently passed away. We miss her. She was such a sweet thing, though we never once even tried to give her a bath. That would have either killed her or us. She hated baths, although liked to get her feet wet whenever she could. She was such a strange creature.

I'm so sorry about your kitty, Kapow123. Our black-&-white shorthair was like that. She would test our bathwater for us (or that's what we figured she was doing. Do you know what breed she was?

We don't really know. She was a stray that myy mom saved... literally. She was torn up by dogs and my mom re-attached all of the torn off bits. She was a beautiful calico. We figured she was an American Shorthair.

Oh razz ! Calicos are so sweet heart ! My older sister had one that had had kittens. One of them had gotten lost somewhere in our house for two weeks, then he just appeared out of nowhere--scruffy and thin. We figure his mom may have known where he was all along. She and her kittens were given away to friends, but she was the friendliest cat I had ever met.

If not mistaken, I believe the calico is its own breed. Their color is very special because only females can inherit the combination of them. There are NO male calico cats. Its a genetic thing.

I asked my mom (a.k.a. the vet) and she said that our cat was a domestic shorthair. Apparently most breeds can have calico variations, and yeah, only females can be calicos.
