The little tattoo parlor is run out of the Koyama family's sun room, giving it a separate entrance from the rest of the house. It's a small room, with only enough space for a receptionist desk, a few waiting chairs, and a tattoo chair.
Both walk-ins and appointments are welcomed. There are several books filled with designs Nanami has done in the past, but if you have a custom design in mind, she requests that you make an appointment, so she has time to plan.
Prices vary based on the size and design of the tattoo.
• Owner/Tattoo Artist: Nanami Koyama • Receptionist: Raiden Niami [x]• Hours Open: 11 a.m. - 8 p.m. [x]• Closed On: Thursdays and Holidays

"No, Mom, no," Haruka sat sideways in the receptionist chair as she flipped casually through a fashion magazine. Cotton balls were stuck between her toes while she waited for the nail polish to dry.
Nanami sat at her own desk, a tiny little thing by the tattoo chair. A sketchpad was open on her lap, showing a newly sketched design. She was not happy.
"Come on, Haruka, I'm bored, give me something to do," she whined childishly, flipping through the sketchpad. "Here, look, this one is cute. And it's small, so it won't stand out and it won't hurt, I promise," she pleaded, holding open the pad so her daughter could see.
"I've told you a billion times, I don't want a tattoo," Haruka replied, not bothering to look up from her magazine. There was a long silence, and when she did move her eyes from the page, she discovered Nanami making her signature hurt-puppy face.
With a sigh, Haruka climbed down from the chair and flipped her bangs back. "Fine, fine, you freak," she gave in, much to Nanami's utter delight.
Haruka had just sat down in the chair when a timer went off in the background. "Oops, my toes are done. Time for another coat!" and before Nanami could even open her mouth to protest, Haruka was inside the house, and her chance was gone.

Carly looked at the card, then up, but then back at the card. Was this it? Hmm, interesting. With a deep breath, and a small adjustment to her breasts. Which had a mind of their own, like, 75% percent of the damned time. When did they get like that?! Carly missed the days when they were young and perky, like, 6 years ago? Right? Yeah, 6. What was she doing? Shaking her head from the thought of the weird orbit of her breasts. She stepped forward and walked inside. She waited at the door a moment, already inside. Hmm, interesting. " Nanami," she smiled in greeting, " Is it unkind to say I expected it to be a little more... punk?" she asked with a small laugh, hoping that Nanami wouldn't mind her little comment. Usually, tattoo parlors were in dark scary areas and very shady-looking. Unlike this one. She had just missed Haruka, who she just met some time ago at the festival.

Nanami looked up at the voice and was pleased to see Carly. "Heyy," she greeted as she set aside the sketchpad and stood up. She took a moment to stretch, having been sitting in one position for most of the day. She grinned. "A lot of people say that. Sometimes I feel like I should paint the walls and play some different music," she said with a mock sigh. "So, what can I do for you today?" she smiled.

Carly was glad Nanami wasn't all that bothered, "I'd like to have, like, this huge-a** tattoo that covers every inch of my body, and I do mean, every inch!" she shook her head playfully, letting out a small chuckle. She was obviously kidding. "Not much, really, I was stuck home alone and thought about coming here to chat... or have some hot chocolate?" she asked with a suggestive nudge, her face was serious, but she was fluttering her eyelids open and closed very fast. You know, that way only women could do and it looked completely adorable. Yeah, that.
Carly felt comfortable enough to joke, but she still was yet to reveal anything. It was odd, and she was sure Nanami had noticed. "You know, it just gets so boring when theres no one around. Matt's just working so hard these days, you knew his co-worker, the female bartender, quit?" she asked, with a serious tone as she went to sit in the tattoo chair. It was the most comfortable looking one.

Nanami was definitely relieved to hear that laugh at the end of the sentence; she would have died doing something like that. Sure, it would have been able to pay her bills for a year, but she would probably lose a hand in the process. "I may not be able to help you with the 'makeover', but I can definitely do that," she replied with a smile. "Just a sec," she held up her index finger before walking over to the door that separated the sun room from the rest of the house, and leaned in, holding onto the door frame for support. "Haruka~ We have a guest~" she called. Turning back from the door, she returned to her seat and rolled the chair forward so it was facing Carly. "Eesh, so he's the only bartender?" she asked with a sympathetic frown. "That must be hard; that place gets a lot of customers, especially since it's the only bar on the island."Haruka walked through the door holding a tray; on top were two mugs, a kettle of hot water, spoons, and packs of instant hot chocolate. She set them down on the receptionist's desk before turning to see who was hanging out in the chair. "Oh," she said, surprised to see Carly. "Ah, Carly, this is my daughter, Haruka. Haruka, this is Carly, I met her at the bar," Nanami introduced them with a smile. "The woman with the curls," Haruka acknowledged her with a small nod. Nanami looked confused. "You've met before?" she looked up at her daughter. "Not really," Haruka shrugged before handing Carly one of the mugs. "Sorry, we're cheap."

Nanami had a maid? Hmm, weird. "Yeah, it's like I'm living alone these days..." she paused, seeing Haruka. Not a maid, a daughter. And it was soo conveniently that girl from the festival, how ironic. Nanami looked great to be a mom, usually women lost their figure after having a kid. Well, she did have about 18 or 19 years, by Haruka's height and looks, to deal with that.
"Oh, right. I saw her at the festival last time," she explained, taking the mug gently from Haruka's hand. "Ah, don't worry. When you go to college, and you don't know how to cook, anything you get, is heavenly." she cracked a smile at the girl, not wanting to seem pretentious or anything. Fact of the matter is, she still doesn't know how to cook much. Matthew was the cook at their house, and he is pretty good, for a guy who learned to do so out of necessity. "I don't know if you've heard this before, but you two almost look nothing alike." she said skeptically, though she could see Nanami's nose and lips on Haruka's face.

"Oh, really?" Nanami was a little surprised. Ahh, now she wished she had gone. Oh well, it was good for Haruka to get out and about on her own. "I hear you, I can't cook a meal to save my life, either," she said with a wink, taking her own mug. She ripped open the package, dumped into the mug, poured some hot water in, and mixed it. No skill needed! Nanami and Haruka looked at each when Carly commented on their looks. Most people didn't get that far, mainly since they were too off-put by the whole teen pregnancy thing. "Ahh, yeah, she takes after her dad. Good looking kid, he was," she nodded with a nostalgic smile.

Carly noticed Nanami frown, "Hmm, well, she's growing into a fine young woman." though the normal thing would be to pat Haruka's arm, Carly instead imitated Nanami's earlier movements. She had noticed her little slip, that she wasn't a good cook. Damn! Wasn't it weird if a woman couldn't cook? Damn macho society. Ah, Nanami couldn't either. That was a relief.
Aren't they always, before they screw up your life? Carly thought of what Nanami had said, the negativity dripping so easily off the thought. She knew not of teenage pregnancy or about being a mother, but she knew that being willingly abandoned by someone you love; that was much worse than if the person had died. Of course, she didn't know if he had died, either. Being a lone mother to raise a kid couldn't be easy, at all. Poor Nanami, Carly couldn't help but feel compassion and a little pity for her situation.
"Oh, if only we could be young again!" Carly looked up at the ceiling and smiled, though she had looked away to hide how fake it was. She never had a good adolescence, though she does have fond memories of childhood. But around her 14th birthday, that's when the arguing and fights started. Oh, how she hates to remember those moments.

Nanami grinned and laughed. "Oh, Carly, you're still young! You're not an old lady like me, not yet!" she winked playfully. Haruka, who had taken a seat behind the receptionist's desk, looking at her mother oddly. "You're still in your twenties, Mom. Stop talking like you're ancient. You make me feel old, too." Nanami looked at Carly in mock surprise. "Can you believe this girl? The moment she turns fifteen she acts like she knows everything." Haruka rolled her eyes and picked up the fashion magazine she had been reading earlier. "You don't work, Carly?" Nanami asked as the thought occurred to her.

Fifteen? Holy crap, she looked about two or three years older. Maybe it was the make-up and sour demeanor. It's just so eight years ago, like, when Carly was eighteen herself. "Hmm?" she hummed, having been taking a sip from her hot chocolate. She swallowed, then cleared her throat to answer. "Yes, but it's not a very active job," she answered hazily, "you know?" she smiled, taking another sip.
"I'm a writer, so I stay at home most of the time. Getting annoying calls from my editor nonstop, who screams at me to send new chapters. I sent in two, last time. I had been inspired. Thankfully, he's been off my back for a while, but he'll call soon enough..." she sighed, leaning back into the tattoo chair further. "Don't ask me what my books are about, I'm embarassed of my earlier works." she chuckled, keeping the mood light.

"A writer?" Nanami smiled, impressed. She had always had a strong preference for creative types. Maybe because she was deeply involved in the arts herself. "That kind of suits you, oddly enough," she remarked. She was about to say something else when she moved suddenly, knocking the contents of her mug all over her lap. "s**t!" she yelped as she stood up suddenly. "Aww, dammit," she sighed as she saw that her kimono-top had gotten stained. "Hold on a second, please?" she looked at Carly apologetically before disappearing into the house to change. There was a long silence before Haruka spoke up. "So... you and my mom?" she offered, looking at Carly but avoiding direct eye contact. "Err, sorry it's kind of awkward... We've never done this sort of... thing... before..."

x████████x x████████x Carly smiled at Nanami's comment, she was a bit flattered. Did she really seem like a writer type? Because those are usually smart and intellectual people, which Carly was, but could Nanami tell that quickly? She almost jumped in her chair, when she heard Nanami's cry. Carly leaned forward to take a better look at the damage, but Nanami was already out the door. And then, the silence...
It was kinda awkward, so Carly leaned back in the tattoo chair to feel more comfortable. She was taking a sip from her cup, when she heard Haruka speak. "Well, yeah," she said puzzled, wondering what the girl meant. Were they not used to having visitors over? Or was Nanami not the kind to bring friends over to meet her daughter? "We met at a bar, sort-of..." she added, chuckling at the memory of meeting Nanami, of all places! "Well, it's actually more like a club/stripjoint kinda thing." she said casually, not helping her case. Carly wasn't very tactful, and that last little comment must have seemed that much more strange to the young girl. x████████xCARLY TALBOT x████████x THE BROKEN DOLL

Haruka's expression turned even more uncomfortable, as if she had never needed to hear that about that side of her mother. "Well, I knew she had met you at the bar..." But she had no idea that there were strippers there too. She didn't need to imagine her mom drinking with strippers. "...I didn't know there were... uhh... strippers.... there..." she shifted uncomfortably in her seat and looked down at her lap. She decided to change the subject. "But, uhm, just so you know, my dad lives far away and we never see him, so... You don't have to worry about that," she offered, trying to be helpful.

x████████x x████████x Well, the stripper's part was understandable. But what about her father? Was that even relevant to the conversation? "Oh, that's... good?" she said, clearly confused. "Nanami doesn't talk much about him. Maybe, it's a touchy subject for her?" she asked, looking down into her hot chocolate. Her immeadiate opinion of the man, was that he was an jackass. Nanami was an kind person, and she wasn't ugly, either. So, she wondered why Haruka's father left her. Maybe the teen pregnancy thing? Carly couldn't find it in her heart to think badly of Nanami, even though she did make the mistake of sleeping with said jackass.
Abandoning Nanami like that... that's despicable. Carly hated those types of people the most. But she didn't voice that opinion, in fear of being out of line. She simply remained quiet, taking drinks of her hot chocolate every now and then. Not wanting to delve too deep into the subject. x████████xCARLY TALBOT x████████x THE BROKEN DOLL
