MEW! Hello new journal thingur!! Lytte gave me this so I can keep track of Ophelia! Where to begin... where to begin...?
Oh! Here... lemme see here... the reason why I have this journal... lemme start with that! On the first of the month, I was wandering around Durem, somewhere close to the Relickweant shop, I should really ask how to spell "Relickweant"... since I am gonna hafta write it a lot! Anyways... DUREM! Being the small little cat demon I am, I typically am not seen by most humans, elves, were-creatures, and all the other inhabitants of Gaia unless I purposely wanna be seen. I was wandering around in a small grassy patch right outside of Durem, looking for something to do, when I found something in the plants. It was shiny... me likes shiney, so I had to look.
In the plants was a stone... shiney, but looked more like a piece of plastic, since it was so thin!! I remember Kojiro mentioning something the last time I went to the Relickweant shop about finding a stone... so I decided to keep it and ask about it later. When I picked up the stone, it was so cold... brrr! Yet as I touched it, something weird happened. Some of the pale flecks began to move around a bit. I know I nearly fell over when I saw that!
Today, Lytte, the person who owns the Relickweant shop, confirmed that the stone was something "out of the ordinary!" She told me it was Phantom Obsidian. Sounds spooky! Lytte gave me some pretty strict instructions, such as taking care of the stone, testing it and such, never abandon it. Kinda hard for me to abandon something, since I don't exactly have a set place to abandon it if I ever wanted to... wait... did that even make sense?
I think I shall begin my testing tomorrow... though I think I will just ask Lytte everytime I encounter something that creates a reaction within Ophelia... oh yah... I named the stone Ophelia. Technically, it has no gender yet, but I think it is going to be a girl, dunno why though? Anyways, anytime Ophelia has a reaction to something, I will note it in my journal here and ask Lytte about it the next time I see her. Easier than actually running real tests... I would need a home to do that... and I don't have a home... bleh... I'm rambling in pencil!
Til later, Manx =^^=

Entry 2Date: 02/07/05 It is so amusing seeing what the Reliquiants (by the way... checked the spelling on the shop window... so this is the right way to spell it) think of me. I have already met quite a few. I recall meeting one named Miori first a while ago. She didn't seem to friendly, but then again, I think my curiousity might have gotten the best of me in that situation. Then there was Nazir. She seemed nice enough, though she was scooped off before we could really play. Then last night there was Tocaz.
Ophelia got to meet him as well! It seems that whenever she reacts to something, the pale markings seem to drift slightly upon her surface. It is strange... assuming that a stone is a girl. Then again... I have to say I am pretty strange as well. I first made my way into the shop, and held the stone above my head, so that the light of the shop would shine through it. When that happened, the markings seemed to react. However, something yellow caught my eye! That yellow happened to be a Reliquiant as I discovered, so I floated on up to the rafters to check it out.
I think Tocaz was mainly surprised that I was as short as I was and not a Reliquiant. I probably didn't make it much better by "poofing" to his height, but then again, how was I gonna be able to shake his hand? Ophelia seemed to have a bit of a reaction to him looking over at her too, seeing as her pale flecks didn't want to sit still.
Eventually, I had to leave to find shelter for the evening, so I decided to visit a local toy shop. I didn't take anything, so it shouldn't make too much of difference. As long as I ain't a thief, they can't get angry... right?
Though the shop was a bit dim since no lights were on, it was still fun to look around. First I went to check upon the plushes, because those are soft, and make nice pillows to sleep on. Again, Ophelia's markings began to dance as I sat upon the stuffed toys. That gave me an idea before I went to sleep. Why not show Ophelia as many toys as I could before growing tired? I mean, if Ophelia is to become a child, I wanna know what kind of stuff she is gonna want to play with!
So holding onto the obsidian carefully, I drifted up and down the isles. When I see Lytte next, I will give her more detail as to what specifically happened with the markings, but for now, just gonna put in what toys seemed to create a reaction. First was the plushes of course, then there were those plastic action figures, there were some that were in boxes that were "create your own" type things (for the messy child I guess?), there were board games, plushes that talked when ya squeezed a paw or hand, bicycles, random teething rings, a few children's books, and a ball. I was tired after that though, so I went to sleep.
Tis morning now, so I just left that shop. Perhaps I will go find Lytte and check up on all the stuff that happened.Summary 1 Ceiling light from Reliquiant shop Tocaz Plush toys Plastic action figures "Create your own" Lab-type set Board games Talking plush toys Bicycles Teething rings Children's books Ball. Hope that summed it all up! Gotta skitter now!

Entry 3Date: 02/08/05 Last time... on Manx's journey... Manx had written that she left a toy shop. Hee hee! Third person is always fun! Anyways, after I finished updating this journal yesterday, I decided to take Ophelia on a trip... then again, everyday I go on a trip, since I technically don't settle down! Bleh... confusing!!
We were still in Durem, so I decided to check out what was going on at the park again. First I went to the fountain and got a drink. The obsidian seemed to wake up a bit, for the pale flecks began to move a bit, so I let a little bit of water flow on top of the stone as well. I guess even stones get thirsty! Once I felt Ophelia had her fill, I skittered into a tree. At first, I sat in the bright sunlight, near the edge of a branch, to which the pale markings shifted. Dangling my feet over the edge a bit, I eventually scooted myself towards the shade. Though it was a change of lighting, Ophelia's markings continued to shift about.
I guess I got a bit bored with just sitting, so I floated on back to the ground and began to search around for something fun to do. Durem needs to get more fun stuff in their park... there aren't even any playground toys! I love playground toys!!
In my journeys, we drifted on over to the flower garden. Ophelia seemed to be having a field day as she reacted to almost all the visual stimuli. There were roses, red ones and white ones, some violets, bluebells, a couple of ferns, a big plant... what are they called... bird of paradise I think, some white daisies, big yellow sunflowers (I like those!), snapping dragons (those are fun to play with), and some baby's breath. The obsidian also reacted to one other stimuli, though I am not sure what to make of it. There was one plant, which I could no longer tell what it was, that seemed to have all the green leeched out of it. It was all crispy looking, like it had been fried in oil or something, but Ophelia seemed to react, seeing as her markings continued to shift about.
Perhaps I can look at more flowers later! I ran into a random doggy in the middle of the garden, so we had to flee. I wasn't scared, but I was making the doggy's human quite upset! It cut our trip rather short... oh well.
From atop one of the many shops within Durem, Ophelia and I watched the sunset. Ophelia is honestly just a bundle of reaction, for her markings slowly shifted from left to right, right to left. The sun disappeared and the moon began to rise, and still, Ophelia continued to react. Tis going to be interesting to find out what Lytte has to say about all that!
Last night, we slept outside. Mainly, in a tall tree. I curled up carefully around the stone, since I don't want to break it! I really don't! I am sure that would be painful if someone randomly broke a piece of you! Before I finally went to sleep, I found it amazing that Ophelia's stone form was still reacting to practically everything about the evening. The slight wind, the tree, the darkness surrounding us. It was quite amazing.Summary 2 Water Bright sunlight Middling sunlight (shade) Red roses White roses Violets Bluebells Ferns Bird of Paradise White daisies Sunflowers Snapping dragons Baby's breath Dead/dying plant Sunset Moonrise/Night The specific evening scene of sleep Today has not really been all that eventful... then again... I think I mainly catnapped most of the day today!
Look forward to more later, Manx =^^=

Entry 4Date: 02/09/05 I really did sleep a lot of the day away yesterday!! I woke up in the afternoon, stopped by the Reliquiant shop for a bit... then left for more sleep! Not too eventful though!!
Ophelia and I went to the Reliquiant shop, and we managed to find Lytte, who translated the stone's reactions into emotions! Strange to think that a stone can love things already. Perhaps she even found a possible friend in Tocaz, whom she seemed to react positively to.
Speaking of friends... I was having fun for a bit as I talked with a few Reliquaints! Met a purple one named Cirru, but he had to leave relatively quickly, and then I met one named Blazen! He can make funky little shadow creatures! They were so cute, but I couldn't pick them up... poo poo! There were two others, but I didn't catch their names... I think my feline tastes got in the way of my hearing, for one of them looked like a fishy! After a bit of oogling, I decided to leave.
As an after thought, I wondered if Ophelia reacted to the others? I mean, I was not even really paying much attention this time as to if she had any reactions or not! Guess that means I have a short attention span?
After we left the Reliquiant shop, I floated around aimlessly, looking for a place to nest up for the evening. Aimless floating finds ya the most random things... seeing as I floated into a really fun shop. They had apparently closed for the evening, but they left out all sorts of fun things to play with! Didn't think there was a RadioShack in Durem, but whatever!
With all those appliances and radios and such... who could resist playing with them? I set Ophelia down on one of the boomboxes and began to play around with all the buttons and knobs. I noted that Ophelia began to react vaguely as I just messed with the buttons and barely managed to get some sound to pop out, though it was pretty much static. Yet it gave me an idea! I wasn't quite sleepy yet, so I decided that both Ophelia and I should listen to music. She reacted to almost everything we listened to, so I will have lots to share with Lytte next time I catch her!
We first started on a random talk radio station. I didn't leave it on that for long... cuz it is boring!! Yet Ophelia even reacted with such a small sample of the boringness!! Then we moved to a station that was playing Linkin Park. Once that song was finished, we moved to a station that was playing songs from Disney movies!! I didn't know that radio stations played those!! I guess I really am a wanderer, for I couldn't sit on the same radio station for too long! Next was some punk station... didn't know the band or song... but it was interesting. Another station was playing "Build Me Up Buttercup"... haven't heard that song for so long... then again, it's an oldie!! Next up was some random classical music... I dunno much about that... so I have no clue who wrote, composed, or whatevered it! Again, another change of station led us to listen to rap. Lots of cussing... I don't get it!! With the final rolling of the knob, we stopped on a dance music station. Didn't quite catch the name... but it was fun music... almost made me not wanna go to sleep..
...almost! Went to bed, with Ophelia's markings shifting back and forth, probably still reacting to the music that had just been playing in the room.
This morning, we were both shooed away with a broom... guess I slept in too long!! Ophelia reacted to the hostile encounter, but then again, who wouldn't!! I didn't break anything! Poo on you Mr. ShopkeeperMan!!Summary 3 Linkin Park Disney Music Punk Music "Build Me Up Buttercup"/Oldie Classical Music Rap Dance Hostile encounter with a broom Bye bye for now! Manx =^^=

Entry 5Date: 02/11/05 FOOD!!!!! Ophelia and I went shopping during the day for a snack... mainly for me though! Stones can't eat! Went to the market during the early morning, when the sun had barely rose. Ophelia seemed to react to the early morning, perhaps it was the cool breeze that hit the air?
I floated into the market, as I would usually do anywhere. I guess I wasn't anything out of the ordinary, for the employees didn't seem to get all uptight about me being there. They were friendly and greeted us... well... me... with a smile! The stone seemed to react to the employees, but then again, what doesn't Ophelia react to?
I wanted fish and candy! Good stuff... if they ever came out with fish candy... I would be set for life! I decided to wander down the aisles though and see what there was. Quite naturally, Ophelia took in all the visual stimuli and had a field day! Reacted to every aisle possible!!
Aisle one had the boxes of cereals (both hot and cold). Aisle two had breads... lots of breads!!! Big loafs and small loafs! Aisle three was pastas and pasta sauces. Aisle four had canned fishes, seafoods, and near the end was pet food. All those pets are spoiled, getting food from a can!... then again, I picked up a packet of tuna (not in a can though!). Aisle five had the refrigerated stuff (meats, milk, icecream, cheese). Aisle six had a bit of refrigerated stuff, but also had candy!!!! CANDY!!!! I was there for a while... cuz I didn't know what candy I wanted! I eventually got myself a gummy fish... doesn't taste like fish, but it is shaped like one! Aisle seven had soups and instant-mixes! And Aisle eight had alcohol... booze... and sodas too!
There was a whole section of fresh produce, which I also drifted past. Lots of veggies and fruits, all made of bright colors, all containing different flavors! I honestly wish I could carry more gold around with me, then I could buy more foods! Oh well... don't cry over something ya don't have I guess!
I went and cashed out, to which the employees smiled kindly. They even offered to carry the stuff for me, to which I had to refuse, since I didn't have a set place for them to put it. One young Gaian, who had brown hairs and a cheeky smile, asked me what it was I was carrying. He pointed his finger at Ophelia and stared at her with keen interest. I told him it was my friend! Ophelia must have thought something of the statement, for her markings began to shift around. The Gaian sorta jolted back in surprise when her stone did that! I just ended up giggling on the way out!
Later on... we went to the library. I couldn't keep quiet... so I eventually got kicked out... or tossed out is the proper term. Meanies! Grabbing me by the scruff of my neck!
There were a couple of books to which Ophelia reacted, but I will save that for the next time!Summary 4 Friendly employees Aisle one - boxes of cereals (hot/cold) Aisle two - breads Aisle three - pastas/pasta sauces Aisle four - canned fishes/seafoods/pet food Aisle five - meats/milk/icecream/cheese Aisle six - CANDY!!!! Entry 6Date: 02/14/05 ....it's just one of those days where I miss him...
Continuing on, Library was the last place that Ophelia and I checked out... or at least according to my last entry! I didn't think that as a stone, that obsidian could read. And there were a couple of books I wanted to look at.... so I read them outloud from the top of one of the shelf.
First book I looked at was a book of Shel Silverstein poems... I love his work so much! Of course, I was really hunting for a particular poem... "Danny O'Dare the Dancing Bear," but I read outloud til I found that one. Ophelia's markings seemed to react to this, so why not.
I don't think the librarian liked me too much, or at least what I was doing, for she wandered around, looking all annoyed-like. However, I continued onto the next book. Or rather... magazine! It was a fun magazine, which showed many pictures of different animals! Some were fuzzy, others were scaley, and some were feathered. All seemed to create a different kind of reaction, I guess that means Ophelia likes some better than others. Then again... this time I was only reading aloud the captions.
At that point, the librarian I think spotted me, for she started talking up to the bookshelf, trying to get me to be quiet and come down. I giggled and stuck my tongue out at her. Leaving quite quickly in a huff, we were left to read one more book! It was a hard read for Ophelia, but I practically have the book memorized! I love reading every chance that I get. Only got chance to read one of the stories though. Canterbury Tales = happy!
However, the moment was not meant to last, for the librarian went to get a ladder and by that point had grabbed me by the scruff of the neck. I wriggled and whined, but she was a meanie!! At least I managed to grab a hold onto Ophelia before she literally tossed us out!
This past weekend was nothing super special. I just stayed up late and wandered around. The dark sky seemed to create a bit of a reaction in Ophelia. One of the two nights, it was extra dark, because it was quite foggy. I could hardly see in front of me! I just prepared for the worst and assumed I would have to go through any object at any given time.
Though Ophelia is here to keep me company now... I can't help but miss him today... All the red roses, red hearts, red ribbons and bows... I can't help it. Just outside the Reliquiant shop even, a man stood there and sold bundles of flowers, most of which were crimson...
...I should check to Ophelia's reaction to all the love surrounding us today.Summary 5 Shel Silverstein poems Animal Magazine - Fuzzy animals - Scaley animals - Feathered animals Canterbury TalesBeing thrown out of the library Dark night Dark night with fog Red Love Perhaps I will be in a slightly happier mood tomorrow... at least there won't be as much to remind me of him.

Entry 7Date: 02/15/05 Boredom is a great motivation! It really is! So far, during all of Ophelia's time with me, we have been in Durem! That city can be soooo stuffy though at times! Last night, once all the festivities were over, I decided that we should take a field trip. I will check up with Lytte once we get back... I promise the journal and Ophelia!
The evening sky last night was clear, with stars shining all around us. Perhaps a romantic evening for most... but I say "bleh!" In the evening light, it almost seemed like the obsidian was glowing. Bet it was just my eyes playing tricks on me... or perhaps the markings just shifting about like usual. Passing under a rather large bridge, I paused for a moment to find her markings reacting slightly differently. Floating up and through the bridge, I rested upon an edge and looked down at my dangling claws. For a moment, I looked to Ophelia once more, and found her markings reacting once more. I honestly think I smiled softly and sighed. At least she seemed to be enjoying this...
Once finished resting, we went past the Durem Reclamation Facility. I remembered she liked water, so I decided a dip in the water wouldn't hurt either of us. I floated down carefully into the water and began to swim around for a bit, with Ophelia still within my clutches. I was right that she would at least react, for she did. I would have stayed in the water a bit longer, but that didn't work out too well... seems some big fish thought it would be fun to eat me for dinner. That would have been humiliating... a fish eating a cat! Don't know what Ophelia was thinking, but I know after the chase was done, we were both wet, and she was reacting quite a bit.
At least once that was over, we could both rest up. The sun was barely rising anyways, and I was tired. How fortunate for us that we had just exited the Reclamation Facility and were now in the Barton West Field. At least no pesky fish could get us there! Ophelia seemed to be reacting to the ever so faint sunlight, so I will note that for later. For the day, we rested on top of a stone pillar high above the ground, so no human could bother us at least. When I woke up, I found that Ophelia was already "wide awake" so to speak, for she seemed to react to the location we had been resting at.Summary 6 Clear evening sky Being underneath the bridge Being on top of the bridge Swimming in the Durem Reclamation Facility Nearly becoming fish food! Early morning sky (hardly any light) Resting upon the tall stone pillar Manx =^^=

Entry 8Date: 02/19/05 Well... this week and weekend have been... strange...
No sooner than I leave Durem, it seems all of Gaia floods towards it! It all started on Wednesday. We made it to Barton! The very minute that we entered the city, Ophelia's markings drifted from side to side, almost as if she was admiring the city she had never seen before like a wide-eyed child!
Yet for me, the minute I floated on past the first shop, I could tell something was up. The lights were off and it looked like nobody was inside, despite the fact it was the middle of the day. Wandering to the next one, I found that one was also down and out, and the closed sign was even up. Past a few more, found nobody there. I looked down to the obsidian, and found it reacting differently from how it was prior to the knowledge of the lack of people.
I continued on down the line, til I came to a television shop. I mean... if you don't know what it going on, you turn on the news... right? Slipping through the glass, I turned on the display television and turned it to one of the news stations. I don't remember which one, nor do I remember the reporter. All I know was she had glasses!
In short, the lady said that there was a big party in a new mansion in Durem. I guess that meant that all the people really wanted to get ready for it, since they left their shops 2 days early!! It left us with a ghost town to explore!
Wednesday, I simply took a gander at all the shops that had popped up since the last time I had been to Barton. And there were a lot. Ophelia's stone form seemed to react to all of them differently though. There were two new book stores, one owned by a person named Marie, and the other by Smith. An art supply and framing shop had emerged as well. A hardware shop also. A videogame shop. A sports supply shop, with sports equipment as well as clothing. A computer maintenance place, I think it was called "Persocom Prodigy" or something of the sort... looked kinda funny because they had mannequins on display, not computers!
There was a small bakery that opened up as well... they had cookies!!! I wanted some that they had on display, so I left them some gold on their counter and had myself a good meal! I wasn't even thinking about it, but I offered Ophelia a bit of cookie, only to remember she can't eat yet! I felt so foolish, but I think my efforts were appreciated, as her markings wandered some more. We also spent the evening sleeping in that shop, especially since it smelled so nice and sweet! Mew... it was like dreaming of cookies with a scratch-n-sniff feature!
The next morning, after another cookie, I went outside to see if any life had come back. Scarey thing is.... it was deader than the day before (if that was even possible).
I'm a bit tired... I think I will continue with stories tomorrow!Summary 7 Barton Lack of people in the city Marie's book shop Smith's book shop Art supply and framing shop Hardware shop Videogame shop Sports supply shop "Persocom Prodigy"computer shop Bakery Cookies!!! Manx =^^=
