Basically, this is the floor that the books available to check out of the library are. They are stacked on bookshelves, hundreds of them along the main floor. There are numerous stairwells on this floor, leading down to another floor. The exit to library island is open, and there is a front desk on library island, complete with a touch-screen monitor and keyboard, and various drawers built into the desk, to hold stamps, inkpads, check-out stamp cards to put in the cover of the book, and various objects.

The monitor has all the books recorded in library island, main floor and below, with the Dewey decimal system in the computer, used for finding out where books are on the floor, but the books must be checked out using the inkpads and stamps. There are also library carts for the librarians to use for re-shelving checked in books. There is also a PA system on this FLOOR ONLY.

Setsuna looked around once she entered the main floor with her sword in its sheath now. She left her bags by the door and frowned. Yeah...she picked up a heavy sense here...Ian was definitely right. Speaking of which, if he was here, she wondered where he was at the moment. One of the basement floors?

Setsuna came back up from the first floor down and went over to ehr bags. Looking behind her one more time, she frowned. I don't have a very good feeling about this place... She put her sword in its cloth case and carried both her bag and her sword back to the dorm building.

Raine dropped her bag and looked around. She could just skip class today. She had no interest in it anyway. And she still stewed over what Ayaka felt the need to point out about her faults. Kestrel did a good job of helping Raine realize Ayaka was right. Simply for his benefit, since it beat Raine down emotionally. She put her hands in her pockets and looked around.

{Gilly enters from Mahora Downtown.}

Running in, Gilly looked around. There were a few students, but none who looked like they were part of LEC. Either they'd gone down, or no one had gone down at all.

Regardless of who was present, Gilly confidently strode to the librarian on duty, a young boy, slight with thickly rimmed glasses, who looked to be Gilly's age. Asking him politely about LEC, the boy explained that no one had checked out the equipment, and handed to Gilly, a key to the storage closet. Thanking him with a bow, Gilly proceeded to unlock the cabinet, and take out a few things: a rope, a helmet with a flashlight strapped to it, a few hooks, a harness, and a few small tools, wrapped in a bit of leather, showing its old age.

Tucking the tools inside her blazer, Gilly wrapped the rope around her arm, and placed the helmet on her head, strapped on the harness, and attached the hooks to handy slots on the side for easy access. "Unfortunately, Masa-kun, there is no equipment for young beings your size." Gilly teased. "But you're free to hang onto my shoulder while we're rappelling down the sides of bookcases!" Gilly said, with as much of a serious face as she could muster. To an ordinary person, that sounded like a ridiculous activity, but to the LEC, it was the thrill, the excitement that embodied LEC.

(Enters from Mahora Downtown)

Masato's paws moved silently over the library's floor and he sat down next to Gilly as she inquired about the LEC at the desk. The library was massive and he had heard stories about the many wonders that were held in its depths. He then followed Gilly to the storage closet after she was given a key and watched her take the tools and equipment needed for a foray into those depths out. Masato tilted his head in curiosity as he saw some of them...a grappling hook, ropes, a headlamp, some extra batteries, and a small hammer. A spelunker's tools. This could get very interesting.

"Of course, Gilly-san! Your loyal pet and familiar will be with you each step of the way!" Masato exclaimed eagerly as he nuzzled the helmet with the headlamp and it fell over his head, prior to him tilting his head back so he could see. He even flipped the light on with his paw before turning it off again. "Lights bright and shiny. Check," he chuckled before sliding the helmet back onto the bench near the storage locker. His tail swished as he waited eagerly to venture into the Library's lower reaches with Gilly and dropped some of the smaller tools into Gilly's pack.

"I think you'll love it down there. Oh, but..." Gilly lifted one finger, remembering the most important detail. "Don't touch too many books down there. That is, if you want to have a relaxing experience, not a panic-filled one, Masa-kun." Gilly grinned, and walked towards the staircase leading down the lower floors, and nodded to the librarian on duty, to remind him that they were venturing down. As a safety precaution, if an LEC member went down alone, (which, to the librarian, Masato did not count as another partner to accompany Gilly) the librarian on duty should be aware, and if an extravagant amount of time passed before said LEC member surfaced, it was his/her duty to inform the teachers.

Walking down the steps, the staircase was much different from the main floor. While the main floor was, to an extent, updated, clean, and modern, the stairwell down was old, and stony, cold, and dimly lit by flickering light bulbs, too old to provide much light any longer. The steps were made of stone, scraggly and basic, as they seemed to be carved out of a mountain, by hand tools.

As Gilly's shoes landed on each step, they made a hollow sound that rung in the narrow corridor, the only noise in the narrow stairwell, save for the sound of dripping water, a constant metronome for the adventurers who traveled down this path. It was rumored that dripping water had provided a sense of time for the adventurers who had been trapped down here, on those rare occasions. Some had came up from the bowels of Library Island, constantly nodding their head, the sound of dripping water the only sound they could utter.

Making sure Masato was okay, Gilly and her furry partner descended down the steps to the first level of the majestic library.

{Gilly leaves to B1 Floor.}

Masato silently acknowledged Gilly's statement as his paws tapped against the stone steps as he proceeded after Gilly, carefully taking note of his surroundings. He had never gone far into the Library or its depths, which was ironic for someone who knew where the Librorum Prohibitorum was (not on Library Island). All this was new for him and he couldn't wait to see what awaited them down there.

{Gilly enters from B1 Floor.}

Emerging from the old stone stairwell, Gilly looked around. The sun was descending now, and the evening sky had already loomed over Japan, the light blue mixing with the vibrant orange and red hues of the sun, creating a misty soft pink. The sky was clear, albeit for a few dusty clouds that lingered around.

Placing the equipment back into the closet, Gilly ran her fingers through her naturally curly hair, looking relieved that the helmet was no longer on her head. "As much as I appreciate the helmet, the only hat I like on my head is my beret!" Gilly smiled, placing her beret back on her head. She'd had it for as long as she could remember. Besides, the helmet smelled a little bit, and bits of paint, and a mysterious red stain had plagued the interior top of the helmet.

Waving to the librarian, who was leaving now, Gilly began to walk toward the trolley that provided transportation from Library Island to the rest of Mahora, but paused. "It is night time...how about we go for a ride?" Gilly suggested, patting the magic carpet, but paused, mid-pat. "We could give magic carpet-sama a break though. How 'bout it? The trolley takes too long." Gilly added, and thought to herself at the end, 'For me!'

Masato left with Gilly after she returned her equipment and bade farewell to the librarian who was just leaving. Masato turned around and waved a paw at the librarian as they went before continuing on his way next to Gilly. The librarian was usually the last to leave, but perhaps they had a staff meeting to attend to, meaning the librarian's assistant would be the one to lock up and secure the place after a few hours from then. It didn't take long for them to reach the tracks for the trolley next to a bench and a sign for it, but the trolley hadn't arrived yet. No one else was around either.

"A ride would be nice. And don't worry about the carpet...carpets, unlike people and animals don't tire, but you still need to be gentle with them while piloting. Much like a horse or a camel. Treat them too roughly without necessity and they'll throw you off. That's because they have limited intelligence, which allows them to execute maneuvers like catching an injured or unconscious pilot in the event they're knocked off, but that intelligence comes with feelings, apparently. And speaking of feelings, I think it already likes you," Masato said while pointing a paw at the carpet which had wrapped itself half-way around Gilly's arm. "Carpets usually take time to do that, according to merchant I bought the summoning spell from. I guess that makes you special," Masato chuckled.

The trolley with a handful of passengers arrived soon after that with the conductor ringing its bell and Masato hopped on before Gilly. A few students from the library caught up and jumped on the back as well while the conductor rang the bell again as a last call for passengers. Masato figured it would be best if they took the trolley to the dorm area instead of the carpet since the area was well-lit at night and they'd be seen by the large groups of students going home before they could land the thing. However, that didn't mean they couldn't take the carpet on their return trip from Yggdrasil.

"Oh? Oh!" Gilly exclaimed, as she just noticed the carpet had taken a liking to her. "Ah, jeez...this puts more pressure on me!" Gilly commented in a hushed whisper, as they were now on the trolley. To the mundanes, it would look like Gilly had a piece of carpet really attached to her. "If I attempt to drive magic carpet-sama, if I tug too hard, I'm sure carpet-sama wouldn't be forgiving..." Gilly sighed, and held onto a wooden pole near where she and Masato were standing. Compared to the subway of New York, this trolley seemed especially slow.

"Special." Gilly rolled her eyes. Special had a lot of connotations. If a parent was annoyed with a neighboring kid, who was simply obnoxious, he/she would tell the kid's parents, "Your kid is rather...special". Gilly was one of those cases, where growing up, Gilly was a rather...special child. "Have you rode a trolley before, or are you just used to dashing from tree to tree?" Gilly teased quietly, speaking to her furry companion. This final action of Gilly's really made her look like a nutcase to everyone else; she was talking to an animal that shouldn't talk back, more or less actually be at the academy in the first place.

Meanwhile, the trolley continued its slow and steady trip to their designated stop: the dorms.

{The trolley and its passengers leave for the Dorms.}
PostPosted: Tue Dec 14, 2010 5:49 pm

Trolleys were convenient, albeit a somewhat slow mode of transportation, but it beat walking. Masato nodded his head lightly in response to Gilly's question and stuck one claw up from his right paw, saying he rode a trolley once before. His and Gilly's behavior struck some of the passengers as strange and he must have reminded them of a horse named Clever Hans, who had been trained in such a way as to seem freakishly intelligent. The trolley steadily made its way to the dorm area and he, Gilly, and several students got off before making their way up the stairs to the dorms.

(Exits to the Dorms with Gilly)

After an hour walk from the shopping district the skies cleared up and the sun was showing, Lobos quickly made his way up the stairs to the entrance of the library. No matter how many times he ran up those stairs they always seemed to leave him breathless, god knows he's ran farther and faster than what he had just done and he didn't even break a sweat but for some odd reason those stairs broke him. After a few moments of regaining his composure he began to look for Yue and Nodoka, they were usually the ones who came to Library Island the most. "I wonder where they're at?" He asked himself as he looked for a girl with long purple hair and another girl with shaggy blue hair that covered her eyes.

Yue sighed as she walked into the library. She didn't really feel much like lunch, but she had her juice in her hand as she looked around and set her school bag down behind the desk. She saw one other person there, and he seemed to be looking for someone. "Hm..." She walked over to him.

Lobos smiled as he saw Yue walking over to him, and gave a friendly wave. "Hello Yue." He said to her once she had gotten closer. She wore the usual Mahora Academy uniform, one that he really wasn't to keen on wearing for the fact he hated uniforms, she looked like she was just over five feet tall, she had long dark purple hair that fell all the way down to her waist behind her, she also had her hair braided into two pigtails with bells attached near the ends. "She's cute." He thought to himself trying not to blush, as he brushed his hair out of his eyes. He hated it when that happened, he probably should get it cut but he always ended up putting it off till the last minute and never went.
