All they said was "okay" and that they support me completely. Most awkward 30 seconds ever.

When I came out to my mama, I became my family's dirty little secret.
Good on your folks for being so accepting.

I live with my mother, who isn't very accepting of my choices. I recently asked her "what would you think if I were into girls?" and she said "I might puke." Meanie... crying

Nice. That's pretty much how my mom reacted when I told her, except with a tacked-on "just so long as you don't start suddenly sucking faces with other women all the time around here".

I'm happy it worked out for you. It was awkward for me to tell my parents, but my boyfriend was there to hold my hand when I came out to them. It's always easier to have someone special to you hold your hand during those few minutes of tension.

Good on you for coming out! My family reacted in a similar manner. The first words out of my dad's mouth were "Well, God still loves you, and so do I." We're not a highly religious family, but I knew what he meant. Mom said "I've known for a few years." So that one was a tad awkward because I thought I was hiding it so well, haha. Keep moving forward and live your life as you, not as who people want you to be biggrin congrats again.

Congrats on coming out! I know the feeling of not getting the response you thought of. I came out to my mom a LONG time ago but just last year I came out to my dad.. and all he said was "Cool, can I go downstairs now?" It was not the reaction I thought I was going to get but both my parents accept me, and that is what matters. Just remember, at least you told them!

Congrats. Wish my mom had been that accepting. My parents kinda flipped out when I told them..my mother completely ignores it and doesn't believe me. My dad is just like *shrugs* "she's over 18. it's her life, what can I do?"

Yay!
I've never formally come out. But they know where my inclinations lie. If they don't they are ignorant.
It's never felt like something I needed to address.

I have never been able to come out to my parents. My mom is a hardcore religious nut and my father is a deep southern racist/sexist/homophob. They almost figured it out once and I had to lie through my teeth. Made me sad. But if they found out I would probably be shipped off to some boot camp or academy. Possibly even an asylum. emo But I am glad to know that there are parents that can be accepting and supportive. Good for you!
