So has anybody seen anything good lately? Read anything really good that you feel has to be shared with other people, even if they're not fans of the genre?

Without Pandora Hearts....I would DIE!!!!

------------------------------------

Pandora Hearts is a really good one, but it is a little slow in the beginning. However, if you can get past the beginning, you will be hooked : D
Demographics:
Action, Adventure, Comedy, Drama, Fantasy, Horror, Mystery, Romance, Shounen, Supernatural, Tragedy
Plot:
Oz Vessalius, heir to one of the duke houses, has just turned fifteen. His life is rich and carefree, darkened only by the constant absence of his father. At his coming-of-age ceremony, however, everything changes. For no reason that he can discern, he is cast into the prison known as the "Abyss", only to be saved by a "chain" known as Alice, the Bloodstained Black Rabbit or B-Rabbit for short. The mystery there begins as Oz unravels the mystery behind Alice, the Abyss and the strange organization known as Pandora. The series features heavy references to Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking-Glass and can be considered both fantasy and mystery.

Similarities to Alice in Wonderland (Throughout the history of Pandora Hearts, numerous similarities between it and the Alice in Wonderland Series have been made.) :
* Alice Liddellis the main prototagonist of the Alice in Wonderland seires and is also the name of both B- Rabbit and the Intention of the Abyss. Also both Oz and B- Rabbit share Alice's sense of curiousity and intrigue. Oz, like Alice Liddell, has learnt to accept anything he encounters, without any fear or awe.

* Dinah, Oz's pet cat is based on Alice's pet cat of the same name.

* Dodo was the bird who held the Caucus Race in Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and is Rufus Barma's chain

* The raven from Mad Hatter's riddle, "Why is a raven like a writing desk", is the basis of Gilbert Nightray's chain, Raven.

* The owl from Alice's poem, Tis the Voice of the Lobster, where it was shown sharing a meat pie with a panther and was simultaniously eaten afterward, is the basis of Cheryl Rainsworth's chain, Owl.

* The gryphon who escorted Alice to the Mock Turtle was the basis for Zai Vessalius chain, Gryphon.

* The Imfamous and devastatingly evil Jabberwock was the basis for Glen Baskerville chain of the same name.

* The White Knight Alice met in one of Wonderland's many forest was the basis for Kevin Regnard's chain, Albus

* The Mad Hatter, was the obvious basis for Xerxes Break's chain of the same name

* The March Hare, was the obvious basis for Liam Lunettes' chain of the same name

* The close friendship between Liam Lunettes and Xerxes Break is a reference to the close friendship between the Mad Hatter and March Hare, characters from Alice in Wonderland that share the names of the two characters' chains.

* Tweedledee and Tweedldum's constant arguing and different personalities was the basis to Echo and Zwei, two personalities inhabiting the same body.

* The Dormouse is the obvious basis for Vincent Nightray's chain, Yamane , who like the character is always asleep.

* The ferocious Bandersnatch creature was an obvious refrence to Lily's chain by the same name.

* The Unicorn is the inspiration for Sharon Rainsworth's chain, Eques.

* The Lion is the inspiration for Lotti's chain, Leon

* The Cheshire cat, a cat with reality altering capabilities, is an obvious refrence for the Intention of the Abyss' follower chain, Cheshire

* The hookah smoking catterpillar was the main stuctural point for Grim, who also has a similar appearence as a large blue catterpillar.

* The Hedgehog Chain that appeared in Pandora Hearts Anime is a clear refrence to the Queen of Hearts' love for croquet played with hedgehogs and flamingos

* The generic chains contracted by Pandora are the Rocking-Horse-Fly and Snap-Dragon-Fly chains, obvious refrence goes to the native insects of Wonderland by the same names.

* The weak Trump Card chains were based off of the many Card Soldiers belonging to the Queen of Hearts

* The Queen of Heart, the nickname of the Headhunter and the speculated chain, is an ovious refrence to the Alice in Wonderland character by the same name.

* Ada Vessalius has owned 3 cats, Dinah, Snowdrop and Kitty, all of which share the names of Alice Kingsly's three cats.

* Lotti's name was based off of Lewis Carrol's muse's (Alice Liddell) sister Lorina Charlotte Liddell.

* Lily, being the youngest Baskerville was also the name of one of the Red Queen's chess pieces who was too young to play.
* The contrast between Alice and the Intention of the Abyss (red/white) is similar to the contrast between the red and white queens.
* Glen Baskerville is based on the red king. Like the king, Glen has so far remained dormant throughout the manga.
* Break is heavily based on both the White Knight and the Hatter.
* Sharon could possibly be based on the Duchess, being a member of a Dukedom, as well as the fact that she can sometimes be nice and at other times deadly.
* Raven, Gilbert's chain, strongly resembles the monstrous crow that chased off Tweedledee and Tweedledum.
* Gilbert, being afraid of cats and very irritable, seems to be based on the mouse Alice meets in the Pool of Tears. Alice accidentally scares the mouse away after telling him about Dinah.
* Several elements of Pandora Hearts is also based on elements from the life of Lewis Carroll. Jack is very nice to children, as was Carroll, while Oscar has an interest in photography. Ada is obsessed with the occult, something that also fascinated Carroll, though he still was a devout Christian.
* At the start of the manga, Oz, driven by curiosity, follows a strange melody until he plunges down a hole in the ground, to find a grave and a pocket-watch, which had been playing the music. This obviously echoes the first scene in "Wonderland".
* The enigmatic Lacie is named after one of the three little girls in the Dormouse's story. Lewis Carroll loved puns and intended Lacie to be an anagram of Alice. Alice's two sisters, Lorina Charlottte and Edith Matilda, were cleverly disguised as Elsie (L.C.) and Tillie (short for Matilda).
* Like the books, the manga is set in Victorian times.
* Ada attends Laotowidge Academy, named after LewisCarroll, whose real name was Charles lutwidge Dodgson.
* Ada is named after a girl that Alice briefly mentions in the first book.
* Two themes that appear in both the books and the manga are those of time and of identity. Neither Oz nor Alice really know who they are or what their purpose is, while in his journals, Jack writes how Alice changed several times during the day, as if into another person (a reference to the Caterpillar scene). As for time, legal contractors such asBreak do not age. This is very similar to the March Hare's tea-party, where the Hatter is convinced that it is eternally 6:00.
* Recently, Break has become older and is nearing his final days. He is worried about Sharon, who is still very young. In "Looking Glass", there is a strong feeling of sadness about aging and growing old. Also, the White Knight is old and possibly based on Carroll, and the only character that actually seems to care about Alice (it is said that the White Knight was one of the people she remembered the best).
* Break's real name is Kevin Regnard. His having an alter ego seems strangely similar to that of Charles Dodgson hiding under the guise of Lewis Carroll, so that he would not be thought of as a man who wrote books for children.
* The Abyss seems like a darker, more twisted version of Wonderland.
* There is a scene in the manga where Vincent and Oscar play chess, a tip of the hat to "Looking Glass".
* In the anime, there is one chain that briefly appears at the start of an episode that resembles a deer. It could be based on the fawn Alice meets in the forest where everything forgets their names.
* The Doors that lead to the Abyss are based on the little door Alice wishes to go through. Also, Jack first appears to Oz behind a curtain, just like the little door was hidden behind a curtain.
* While Break is now very old and almost completely blind, he is still one of the most powerful members of Pandora. This may be a reference to "You are old, Father William", a poem Alice recites to the caterpillar, which is all about an old man bewildering his son by doing impossible feats of skill and agility.
* Rufus Barma is most likely based on the caterpillar, due to his cold and haughty manner, but most of all because of the way in which he reacts to people who have changed without his knowledge.
* Barma has some sort of metallic fan which he employs as a weapon. In the first book, Alice picks up a fan which she tries to cool herself with, only to discover that doing so has caused her to grow.
* The four grand duke houses are based on the four different suites of cards: the hearts, the spades, the clubs and the Diamonds. Therefore, the Headhunter must be a member of of one of the four Dukedoms.
* In retrace 53 of the manga, when dealing with the issue of the chain known as the head-hunter, it reveals the true identity of the chain and reveals it's name is Humpty Dumpty. This is a reference to Through the Looking Glass, where, after leaving the forest, Alice meets Humpty Dumpty sitting on a wall and she tells him how he's going to fall. He is shocked by this and tell Alice that even if he did, the king will come and pick him up.

Thanks, but I couldn't put the actual summary in their nor more of the characters, which makes me sad. Pandora Hearts...has its own wikia, check it out, lots of useful information. (not on wikipedia, just Google search Pandora Hearts.wikia and you'll know what I mean)

BY THE WAY: Sharon's official eye color is pink, don't ask me why they colored it orange. Maybe they thought it would look prettier that way? O.o

Without Pandora Hearts....I would DIE!!!!

Oh, yeah, here's the reason why you should read the manga of Pandora Hearts instead of the anime. That one gore scene you see in first video, that's the only one in the whole anime as compared to the manga which has many and tons of gore scenes, even a you Vincent stabbing someone in the face.

After Reading that I should Watch Pandora Hearts... I could do only one thing.... Go out... Get it... And watch it...

I've seen 13 Eps so far and all I can say is... "Why... Oh Why hasn't anyone told me about this!!!" It's a Really good show... I like how the Anime is going... As for the Manga... I just might go out and Try to find that as well... I hope to Finish Pandora Heart with in this week...(Work takes to much on my time crying ...) Would you be able to Recommend another anime?

Well, for the manga, I'd read it online (it's ongoing, retrace 54: Blank Smile will be coming out either Sunday or Monday) and buy the volumes as they come out in America. Just as a reminder, for the manga, it's no where near to being done, so it'd be impossible to finish it over the weekend.

And as for the Pandora Hearts English release, the anime will be coming out either late this year or sometime next year. Volume 3 ,with Break on the cover, for the manga will be out on October 26, 2010 (my brother's birthday, yay!) and volume 4 with Sharon on the cover will be out on January 4, 2011. (my birthday, double yay!) Volume 5 will be out on August 26, 2011 and Volume 5 will be out on July 19, 2011. Click here for the rest of the American and Japanese dates for volume releases. There are currently 12 volumes in total, volume 13 should be coming soon.

And for recommendations, it all depends on what you're looking for. Manga published in the same magazine? (G-fantasy is the magazine it runs monthly in) Horror manga? (the anime isn't a horror but the manga is) Romance manga? Alice in Wonderland themed manga? What is it specifically that you are looking for, either way, I can recommend a lot of good mangas for you. : )

By the way, since the author allowed scanlations to be online (our scanlating team actually asked her, she agreed, with one condition. That we buy the volumes when they come out in our countries, and that we try to buy stuff like the art book and official guide, but that's just a given for fans since it's a must have for all PH manga fans) if you ever have the time and money, make sure to buy one of those things and support the author so she may continue. : )

I don't really watch anime, so I'd probably could only recommend manga for you, as I said earlier. I tend not to watch animes because I prefer the originals, sorry. Plus, the animation style for Pandora Hearts is just not excusable for modern day standards. The opening is supposed to be there to show off how much of a budget an anime has and how well their skills are at animating, which failed horribly. The only thing that made it worth watching were the voice actors and the music. Sorry, went into a rant there. :[

And here is a preview of the next chapter, Retrace LIV (roman numerals for 54) : Blank Smile. This is just so you can see the art difference. (I love how Jun Mochizuki draws the eyelashes clear so that they're the same color as the eyes, it just seems so elegant! <3 ) I can't use my regular posting style for this because this picture is just too big! Well, there are only two volumes out in English right now. : Volume three is out, but it won't be oficially in stores until October 26. As I said before, it's best to read it online first and purchase the volumes as they come out in America.

I do something different, however. I am subscribed to G-Fantasy (the original Japanese magazine where Pandora Hearts, Kuroshitsuji, and others run monthly in) so I get the new chapter each month. I read the raw in the magazine, go online and download the raw and re-read it on my computer, read the scanlation online, wait for the American release, any buy it. It may be more expensive to do it this way, but I certainly enjoy it seeing as it's the best way if you like to read it in your hands first. Along with buying the English volumes as they come out, I also always buy the Japanese volumes when they come out. There are currently twelve Japanese volumes, two English ones, I own each from both of the languages so that way I can read it online and still support the author. : )
