The tall Cor sauntered over towards the Training Area, more than a little annoyed he had to show up for just one new Cor today. Why couldn't they show up in groves or something so he could just teach them all at once and then go back to whatever it was he was doing originally. If they were older he wouldn't mind so much, it was just the whole new Cor thing that got to him. They always had such silly questions or wasted his time on nothing as they got used to the Academy. With a small sigh he shrugged to himself, there was really nothing Illuser could do about it anyway. He was one of a handful of qualified instructors for this task and since everyone else seemed to be busy he had had to step up to the proverbial plate.
The walk to the Training Area seemed to take forever and the instructor sighed as he looked out into the empty area before his eyes flitted to the sun. He was a bit early, but still - couldn't the young one be bothered to be early, too? With nothing to do until the newcomer showed up, Illuser continued his saunter over to one of the wooden posts before carefully leaning against it with his arms folded across his chest. Illuser gave off the illusion of being laidback with his stance and half-lidded eyes, though he was just a little bored and irritated especially knowing that later that evening he would have yet another training session to attend for another new Cor. Would the lessons never end?

Fiery orbs glanced once down the left hallway, then once to the right. He'd gotten lost again, and the fiery Cor was really starting to get irritated with the architecture of the building. Why did they have to build it so complicated? Huffing once, Aedan made up his mind and dismissed both hallways to simply keep going down the hall he was already in. He was bound to start seeing outside at some point right? Reaching another intersection of halls, he glanced to the right and found what he'd been searching for. He was probably late by now, his instructor was bound to be pissed. Oh what a great start to his academic years. Trying to fly through the hall as fast as he could, Aedan finally opened the door and stepped, or floated into the area.
The training area was quite large and open, perfect for fitting multiple students. There seemed to be wooden posts to practice on one side, and as the Cor continued to observe his surroundings the greenish hair an was spotted. How come he wasn't floating? Jealousy panged through the Cor as he looked at the others long legs, it made him wonder just how strong his instructor was. Floating over, the Cor bowed slightly out of curtsy and met the others eyes. An apology wasn't something that Aedan gave lightly, and his tone indicated this. However, for now he needed this person to answer his questions. Did he have questions? Of course, but first introductions needed to be done and moved aside. As always Aedan was straight to the point.
"I apologize for my lateness, it seems I haven't memorized the halls of the academy perfectly. I am Aedan, it is a pleasure to meet you."

It was a small surprise to the instructor when the student came nearly barreling out the door towards him only to immediately apologize for being late before Illuser could so much as speak and introduce himself. In fact, caught slightly off guard, he had come up from the post he had been leaning on and his arms had fallen from their crossed position across his chest as he stood there nearly staring at the youth. The older Cor couldn't help but wonder if maybe this Aedan was something like Ciaran - had chosen to stay in the younger body because he just didn't feel like growing up yet. A small smile pulled at his lips as he nodded, not even bothering to tell the Aeon that he wasn't actually late - Illuser had just been early. "My name is Illuser and I'll be your professor for now." The golden eyes narrowed just a tad as he looked at the floating Cor who seemed oddly strained, "Did you have trouble finding the training area?"
Sure, it was a long shot and he didn't usually like to ask nice questions, but something about the Aeon seemed older to him and he found he really didn't mind this Aedan as much as he did the other new Cors. Perhaps instructing this one would be simple and easy and he could be on his way soon. Besides, at this stage it wasn't like there was too much he could do - just had to teach them about Thareon, Thari, and the Academy. His tail flicked just a little at that as his arms folded back across his chest and he leaned against the wooden post again, resuming a more relaxed position as he pondered over how he had come to think of Thareon, Thari and the Academy as being so simple as to teach quickly.
Glancing up at the sky, he realized it could be a long night yet and he seriously hoped Aedan wouldn't mind a long conversation and would avoid stupid and unnecessary questions.

If there was one thing Aedan hated more then being late for something, it was being wrong or doing something wrong. Illuser asking him if he'd had trouble finding the place was just the thing that Aedan didn't want to admit, but he told himself that if he started lying to his instructors his growth process wouldn't be going as well as he'd wanted. Plus, the way he'd entered the training grounds only proved the elder right. Fiery eyes met golden ones. “I did, I couldn't get my hands on a map yet to memorize the place.” He'd been to busy settling in his room with some crazy roommate, one he hoped to get ride of soon.
“So what am I to learn?” Aedan was always eager to learn things, if he wanted to get into the military branch he was going to need to soak up as much information as fast as he could. Right now, his knowledge sponge was empty, and he certainly wanted to know how to get those legs. Oh yes, this was the thing that Aedan wanted to know the most about. For now, he'd stay quiet. It would be quite rude if he was just throwing question after question at the instructor. He's seen Illuser looking up to the sky, did he think Aedan would be slow in learning? The Cor let a smirk grow at the corners of his lips.

Illuser felt his lips twitch into an almost there smile when the youthful Cor admitted he had, in fact, gotten lost and made mention of a map. In an uncharacteristic urge the older Cor felt the need to tease Aedan and permitted himself that leisure with a quirk of his eyebrow, "Who said there were any maps to use to memorize the place?"
Immediately the older Cor felt a twinge of regret for his words seemed to have come out with more bite than he had intended. Clearly humor and teasing did not suit him well. It seemed the youngest professor was beginning to wear on him, that he had even made the effort and Illuser gave a small, rueful smile at that as Aedan asked a question of him. Returning his attention to more immediate matters he raised one eyebrow at the youth, both amused at the question and debating how best to answer that when the answer was 'everything'. With a wide gesture of his hands to indicate everything around them, he gave a smirk of his own as the youth's grew on his face, "Everything."
Glancing down at his own legs he gestured towards them, as well, "It will take you a while to get these. So until then, we will teach you to hunt for soul orbs to grow and how best to use," here his hand moved to gesture towards his head, "this."

Aedan had been paying close attention to Illusers face, one had to be blind not to notice that tiny smile and the quirk of his eyes brows. If those weren't enough to unsettle the young Cor, then what Illuser said next certainly did. Aedan had thought there would be some sort of map, didn't others get lost too? Oh how he suddenly felt so small and stupid, and his facial expression showed his discomfort with the whole thing. Aedan just wanted to yell and stomp... Err float around angry with himself and the world in general, but he'd look like an even bigger idiot in front of Illuser so he might as well just keep it cool for now. Not an easy thing for the fiery Cor. However, his question did raise amusement in the instructor and Aedan seemed relieved. His answer did fit with what he had to learn, Aedan knew nothing of anything. That would of been easily answered if he'd thought about it before asking.
The Cor glanced down at Illusers legs again, a long time eh? Aedan wasn't usually a patient person. Oh he'd work hard for those legs, and he'd get them. When Illuser mentioned hunting, Aedan glanced back up as his attention was snagged on the rest of what Illuser said. In his mind, Hunting equalled to soul orbs which equalled to growing? Now they were getting somewhere! He'd need lost of these soul orbs then, which mean lots of hunting. Aedan liked his lips, a smile growing with excitement. “ Alright then, what am I to learn about these soul orbs? How do I hunt? Do I get a sword? A sword would be really cool,” then a pensive pause, “okay maybe I couldn't handle a sword right now. But I could use a sharpened stick. Oh yes, that would work. What am I hunting?” Now that Illuser had gained his full attention, Aedan had become one talkative little Cor.

Illuser had been around a long time and he quickly caught the discomfort on Aedan's face. Suddenly feel like a jerk his hands immediately came up to pat the air as he chuckled in an attempt to put the younger Cor at ease. Or at least to try and reverse the damage he had so clearly wrought and so quickly off the bat. His voice, however, came out more bland than it did as if he'd been joking, "There's a map, Aedan. I was...joking." The last word that came out of his mouth sounded almost foreign and as if the second sentence had been more of an after thought for reassuring Aedan than it had been anything else.
The temptation to shift his weight on his legs rose very quickly when the Cor stared at them. He knew how hard it had been for him to wait for the chance to walk properly on the solid ground and he could only imagine how hungry Aedan must be for that experience as well. As Aedan grew excited, the knowing smirk returned to Illuser's face. At least he now had a Cor he could work with, one that might be ready to be molded into a powerful Cor who could serve a Vars well.
"You'll learn everything there is to know about the soul orbs tonight." The older Cor paused as his head tilted in contemplation, "Well, almost everything. You'll hunt with your hands and rudimentary weapons at first."
His golden eyes narrowed as he added with a steely edge to his voice, "And always with someone older, more powerful."
With another laugh he nodded, "Eventually you might get a sword. But not yet. As for what you'll be hunting - anything that you can eat, you would hunt. Animals with plenty of meat on their bones to provide you physical nourishment as well as their souls which will provide you with the soul orbs. The things that will help you grow into a Sin-Aeon as I am, from your present Aeon state."
Here Illuser paused again, to allow things to sink into Aedan's mind, "Any questions so far?" He assumed there would be. There always were. But it would be better to let the student ask questions as they went rather than just bombard him with everything all at once. That Illuser had learned from experience.

Aedan wasn't sure if Illuser was actually joking or not, but the young Cor had taken it as an apology since Illuser had seen his reaction. That there was a map was brilliant, he'd study it and never get lost ever again. Aedan looked so determined, he was actually squinting with a triumph smile. The young Cor had so much to learn about controlling his emotions and his reactions, compared to Illuser he looked like a fire ball ready to go off.
"My hands," Aedan looked down at hi tiny hands, he didn't really think he'd be able to actually catch something. He hadn't really tested his capabilities yet because he'd been busy with other stuff, like finding a map. Now that Illuser mentioned it, he would enjoy using a weapon more then his hands. He'd be able to hack stuff to pieces and collect their orbs so he could grow, Aedan rubbed his hands together.
"And always with someone older, more powerful." That got the Cor pausing, he didn't really want to hunt with someone, but he didn't mind Illuser. Maybe he's ask Illuser to take him out hunting after he was done learning everything. The faster he got out there hunting, the better he'd become, the more powerful things he could hunt and the more powerful Aedan would become.
"Only one question," Aedan smiled widely, "when are we going out hunting?" He already understood the whole he needed orbs thing to grow, he was itching to go out on a hunt now. A real one, with Illuser watching. he wouldn't be breaking any rules then and could kill whatever he got his hands on.

The determined squint on Aedan's face made Illuser mentally chuckle. This was the first new Cor he had met in a long time that was so determined and hungry for power. Despite himself, he found he was actually starting to like this Aedan character. Illuser did not mind that the youth so readily displayed his emotions. He was just happy they were purely Cor emotions.
Illuser nodded at the mention of Aedan's hands. They were indeed small - a child's hands - but they could still wield a spear. They were lightweight and easy to use. A bow would also work, but given the Cor's question about wielding a sword, Illuser suspected a bow would simply not be enough. And so a spear it would be for the youth to start with. A wooden sword for practicing, as well.
The grin Aedan gave him and the question that followed it had Illuser grinning just as widely. An ambitious little Aeon! What a refreshing thing to witness! Still grinning, the instructor spread his arms wide, "As soon as you learn the basics of The Academy and the Sanctuary you will hunt."
Perhaps he would take Aedan on his first hunt. The thought certainly wasn't displeasing to him. In fact, it sounded vaguely interesting. But first - the lesson at hand. Illuser cleared his throat to indicate the lesson was about to continue and began again.
"The Sanctuary is the only 'safe' place in Thareon. Outside of it are many terrifying and powerful beasts. One that, if you are successful, will provide you with plenty of power."
Here Illuser paused, adjusting his wings at his back before continuing, "Within the Sanctuary lies the Academy, which is where we are now. The Merchant and Guild Districts can also be found within the Sanctuary. When you have free time, you can go there to shop and explore. For now, though, we'll focus on the Academy, as that's where you'll spend most of your time."
The Sin-Aeon paused so the youthful Cor could process everything before continuing, "There are five separate Academies within the district we're in. The first is where you go to learn the basics of Cor life, after that, you will attend a school based on your personal abilities and preferences. Or the opinions of your instructors. We have an Academy for the Healers, Artists or Craftsmen and the Military among others. Their names are fairly explanatory of what they teach, so I won't go into that unless you want me to."
Illuser paused and quirked an eyebrow, allowing the saliva to wet his mouth after all that talking and giving Aedan a chance to ask questions or make statements if he so chose.
