We were training Krav Maga. And, I came in with an elbow strike. Well, several, we were both moving faster than we usually do in training. I'm getting better, he's glad I'm getting better so he's pushing my reflexes to react faster. My body was naturally moving in turn with his. (Sounds so gay xD) But I was good at doing counters, retaliations, holds, getting out of holds, blocking.

My instincts were getting good. Anyways, after we stopped training. We were at it for like an hour and a half. Something around there. It turns out one side of his upper nostril caved in slightly.

There were no hard feelings though and I know one of these days it's going to be my turn to take an accidental minor injury. Krav Maga, it's for survival. So a lot of the strikes if you were to do at full force would really hurt the person you were training with.

Oh well, just means I'm more careful with elbows next time. I'm a bigger guy so I really have to watch how much force I follow through with during training. Highest risk when I'm trying to up my speed and when I'm forcing my instincts to get sharper.

Once at mt friend's dojo I got my thumb about dislocated. The thing was sore for a week and a half, or two weeks, one of the two. Took a foam sword used for baton training, right int he crook of my thumb. Pointed it out to the master of the dojo, who then proceeded to show me thumb locks X'D

What are some injuries everyone here has come across or experienced themselves? What are some specific attacks you know of that you should really watch your force on or not put force into at all when training?

well as long as there was no hard feelings and that you understand that in this sport injuries are bound to happen some point or the next.

well some of my experiences were in one of my tournaments i fought a guy and ended up spraining my ankle from a bad role "one of the few times i ever did a bad role since i first learned them back in the time of white belt XD"
i have also messed up my arms in grappling training because my partner got too carried away, i been working with him on his control >.>.

and then there was the time when my master, Master Silagi was teaching me some of his joint Manipulation techniques "now my signature specialty" he was showing me the 5 basic techs and during the 5th one i got cocky and trying to look like a badass not wanting to tap out and endure the pain he went from lvl 5 basic wrist and arm lock to a more complex more advanced tech from his second art (i forget the name -_-) that inflicted more pain into my body than i ever imagined it was like someone was stabbing a knife into all my joints in my arm and fingers. thankfully nothing was broken but my arm was numb and motionless for a wile -_-.

Krav Maga is a vicious martial art, and the practice is deliberately brutal to maximize efficacy.

My worst injury ever came working for my Krav blue belt. During retzev I got surprised by one of my training partners. This late in the game, reflexes sometimes kick in before you can stop them. He got a touch close and before I could reign it in, I let loose with a straight punch that took him full in the forehead. He flew back, relatively unhurt but I might as well have punched a solid steel wall. I broke my hand in two places and sprained my wrist pretty badly. All my partner had to show for it was a bruised forehead and a cocky grin. These accidents happen when you're in an amped up training environment, so no hard feelings to be had. A few months later, I was back up and running.

Those who practice traditional martial arts are all too familiar with the dangers associated with learning Chin Na and pressure points. Injury happens, just have to keep pressing on.

That it is, Krav Maga is dangerous indeed. I figure, it's only a matter of time until it's my turn to get the blunt end of someone else's reflexes. Some formal dojo training would be nice, but, I'm learning the art for free so I can't really complain.

What belt are you right now in Krav Maga?

I gained my black belt sometime in March, but I don't feel like I'm at black belt level. The local school was somewhat light compared to where I started studying and the test felt weak.

One time, my friend accidentally kicked my other friend's nose too hard while combat sparring and it was not a pretty site. He ended up having to go get his nose realligned and now it is completetly crooked. The same thing happened to me except my knee cap was severely damaged while sparring. I am ending up having to go get surgery in a few months. Not good.

It can be hard to restrain yourself from using your full power and so your aim will be poor, just like when we have to use our full power in sparring. You can be caught up. Accidents can happen sometimes.

Again it happens ... I was "rolling" (word for sparring in grappling [cuz apparently not enough people out there don't know the terminology still]) ... and he accidently elbowed me in the nose ... yeah I started bleeding ... but I was like ... "come on, let's keep going." ... and he was like, "I'm sorry, I'm sorry." ... and I was like, "Who cares, it happens." and then he felt bad ... and then I said, "I'm fine, stop being a b***h and let's keep training." So we continued and well he kinda ran into me knee and well let's just say that his nose started to bleed ... anyway ... moral of the story ... if it was an accident and your training partner knows it was an accident ... then don't worry about it ... I know that you might be a little gun shy afterwards ... but you have to get over it ... cuz (and this will no doubt be true for Krav Maga) there is no sorries in the real world ... you only got one shot at things ...

I'm willing to accept I'll probably get hurt sooner or later learning Krav Maga. But, it's about survival if my life is threatened. So, I'm willing to take that risk.

I have been punched square in the nose a few times and although it hurt for a week or more I haven't broken it yet. One of my teachers kicked me in the ribs. I misjudged the kick and wasn't able to block it but it wasn't hard enough to hurt for long. I have had some sore muscles and a lot of bruises but nothing major. I have landed a kick with the upper part of my foot on someones knee that is painful today my friend and I were messing around and I kneed him in the foot. Bruising and a sore nose has been the only major injuries I have had from training. I busted one guys lip with an elbow we were sparring and I swung around at close range and hit him in the mouth. We try to hold back a bit unless we are using pads but people still get caught.

The worse injuries other than being sore and bruised I have ever had from a fight were a bloody nose and black eyes. The most painful was a rug burn or 2 from being kicked in the leg while wearing jeans.

The resilience of noses, it would seem, varies wildly from person to person, lol.

Very true ... it's like cuts ... some people cut from just getting hit with a jab ... others you have to hit wih a million strikes, and even then they don't cut ...

Knife hands, I think palms, and elbow strikes, I think have more chance of doing damage to the nose than a direct punch imo.

Definitely elbow strikes ... because that is just basically bone ...

So, my turn to get hit came along. Me and my friend were training. He tried to grab my wrist to wrap me up. My reaction was to break the grip right away and swing for the head.

This, said we were apparently training face shots xd

He went in and threw a nice swing at my jaw. I tucked my chin and deflected it instinctively. He felt his fist go into/by my mouth and stopped, asking if I was alright, if I had a cut.

I wasn't really sure if I had one or not. But, the side of my jaw that got hit was kinda slightly numb, ish. Not in bad pain or anything but I could tell I was hit there y'know?

I walk over to the mirror and check. To my pleasant surprise I go, "No, I'm fine."

He got a cut on one of his knuckles from my tooth. I had a good deflection. His fist hit, somewhere he wasn't aiming. He was impressed that my first reaction to someone trying to grab and wrap me up was to swing for the head too.
