Well... I dont know about you guys but music is a major part of my life. I love it. When I'm not attending classes or at my day job, I'm doing something musical. I play a few different instruments. Clarinet - I have played for roughly nine years, Piano - playing for about two years, Guitar - playing for a little over a year, don't play it often though, and Violin- Just started earlier this year. When I'm not playing the instruments I'm singing or listening to some sort of music. Earlier this year a group of my friends restarted their band and offered me the position of vocalist. I declined at first, not very confident or anything but eventually i got pushed into the role. Abso-freaking-lutely love it. We really don't have very many of our own songs, mostly doing covers, but its fun none the less.

Anyway... Just thought that this could be a place to hang out and chat about music of all genres openly. I ask that people be respectful of other peoples taste in music and not toss around insults or anything like that. So let loose and have fun. Comment on the song of the day. Let us know what music/artists you like. Link us to something you may like or want others to hear.

Mad's Top Ten Bands

#1 Paramore - Discovered this band back when they were just getting started and followed their career closely. I have since attended three of their concerts and have never left disappointed. There are several things that put Paramore at the top of my list. One, Hayley is an amazing, amazing vocalist. I mean really. She sounds just as good live as she does recorded. Two, they have a great sound. Three, the lyrics are awesome. No matter who you are, i'm sure there is one Paramore song that you can relate to. Four, they are very versatile. Listening to some of the covers they have done over the years makes that very clear. No matter what genre it is they always make it sound amazing. Overall the band just rocks. It's clear that each and every single one of them loves what they are doing.

#2 VersaEmerge - Versa is my most recent addition to my list. I first heard their EP about a year or so ago. In my opinion they had a very different sound. It was like Tim Burton meets rock. A major mind ********. Now when I say that it’s because of they added a bit of symphonic stuff to their Ep and it reminded me a lot of some of the music that used in Tim Burton films so that was just my immediate thought. They just recently released their new album, Fixed at Zero. Now, this is a bit different from their Ep but still just as amazing. I quite like their sound. Um I think in an interview with them they said their sound was rock with a cinematic feel… something along those lines. I have to agree. Their music is just very big with lots of textures and layers. Once again another band with some amazing vocals. I’ll be watching them closely.

#3 Kadawatha - Kadawatha… All I can say is wow. Earlier this month I went to a paramore concert in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Kadawatha was one of their opening bands. Having never heard anything by them before then I can say I was honestly blown away. Kadawatha was formed around the 23-year-old Sri Lankan Daniel Kadawatha. He started Kadawatha in the winter of 2008, and back then it was a solo project. Later in the fall of 2009 the other members joined too. Passionate performances and heartfelt songwriting has built Kadawatha into what it is today – and it's most definitely something magical. Go listen, perhaps you’ll be just as blown away as I was.

#4 The Swellers - The Swellers… They were another band I knew nothing about until I heard them as one of Paramore’s openers. And much like I did with Kadawatha, I instantly fell for the band. I don’t think it was so much their sound that got me hooked but it’s their profound lyics. The songs are just very deep and easy to relate to. The vocals are good, a bit different then what I usually listen to, a bit more rough and grungy (at least live anyway). Not that that’s a bad thing by any means its one of the things I like about them, very natural.

#5 You Me At Six - Text
#6 Kaiser Chiefs - Text
#7 Fun - Text
#8 The Academy Is - Text
