Located off a hard-packed dirt road, just outside the town of Shira, stands the Dragon's Eye Inn. Three stories high and built out of dark, aged wood, it looks impressive against the sylvan backdrop of a dense oak forest. Hanging over the front door is a wooden sign, bearing both the name of the Inn in common script and a picture of a red dragon's head, the eye outlined in silver paint. A small wooden bench rests against the front wall beside a hitching post and a stone water trough.

A diamond-shaped window about six inches across is the only decoration on the front door, currently closed. As you step inside, a small bell chimes overhead as the door brushes it. The common room is lit well enough, by sun through foggy windows during the day, and by hearth and oil-lamp in the evening. The common room has a high ceiling, which suddenly dashes the illusion of this Inn being three stories, when it is, in fact, only two. Stout rafters of solid wood line the ceiling, easily strong enough to hold a man's weight separately. The walls are decorated with various tapestries and simple oil paintings of landscapes, meant to soften the harsh wood beneath. The floor, while not spotless, is still quite clean, the wood well oiled. A stone fireplace is set in the far wall, the stone hearth reaching out several feet beyond the open front, to catch stray sparks. The rest of the room is filled with various wooden tables of differing sizes and shapes, each with a rag-tag collection of comfortable looking chairs, some cushioned and some not. Opposite the room from the fireplace is a long wooden bar, highly polished, standing sentry around two doors that appear to lead into a kitchen and a storeroom. At the end of the bar is a narrow stairway that spirals up to the second floor, where the sleeping rooms are.

Sitting behind the bar is a young-looking elf maiden, toying with a deck of cards, looking extremely bored. Although she's sitting, she appears to be rather tall and thin. Athletic comes to mind. Her straight, blonde hair is tied back in a thick braid and appears to hang below her waist. Deep blue eyes, dark like sapphires, are set over a smallish nose and mouth, making a deep contrast to her rather pale skin. She is wearing a simple, brown linen dress with a much abused apron over the front of that. The cards set out before her don't seem to be pleasing her much. At a glance, they appear to be a tarot deck.

The girl mutters quietly to herself, her normally mild voice tinged with anger. "Stupid cards...how do they know what's going to happen...telling me I'm wrong..." With a sigh, she gathers up the deck again, shuffles it, and begins setting them out in the same pattern on the bar.

The sound of metal on metal could be heared outside the bar and getting louder and louder. The door pushed open, sending the bell above the door into it's breif song. A suit of armour stood in the doorway, a blue tabbard hung over its chest with odd marking sewn into it. The armour shinned even in the dim lighting and had similar markings carved into it. A long blue plume sprouted from the top and drooped down the back. A longbladed sword could be seen strapped across its back and a metal covered book hung by a chain across its hip. The long, beak-like helmet slowly turned from side to side, scanning the room over before stepping into the bar.

Hearing the bell, the elf girl looks up from her cards to the newcomer and quickly scrambles to clean up the deck, stammering, "W-welcome, soldier. Ah... welcome to the Dragon's Eye! Uhm, if'n you like, feel free t'take a seat anywhere." Her words come out in a rush as she straigtens behind the bar, still nattering on. "Its still early for us to have many folk about, but business tends t'pick up 'bout midday. Would you like a drink? Lunch won't be on for a while yet, but Cook's got a good selection for the day. A meat stew, some foul pie, and of course, bread and cheese..." She slips the cards away under the bar and smiles pleasantly at the armored patron, as if she hadn't been shirking her work.

"Thank you good miss." He st down on one of the stools at the bar, the stool giving a slight creek from the weight of his armour. "It may be early but I've had a long mornings ride. Get me something stiff."

At his request she begins rummaging below the bar with much clanking of glass on glass. She mutters softly to herself, all the while leaning further under the bar. "Stiff...stiff...hmm...ah!" She moves to stand suddenly and hits her head on the underside of the bar with a loud WHACK, elicting a sudden shriek of pain. Groaning and wincing, she slowly backs up and stands, one hand rubbing the crown of her skull, the other holding a thick, box-shaped bottle of dark liquid. The elf girl sets the bottle on the bar before him and pulls a solid-looking earthware mug from a small shelf behind the bar. "This 'ere's a rather good brandy from the Southlands. Nice an' strong an' it won't leave ya seein' things like some of that dwarven swill they make up North." She gives him a meaningful look before unstoppering the bottle. "T'is expensive though. One silver penny per glass, an' I need t'see the coin first, m'afraid."

The man reached into a small pouch at his side and drew out 2 silver coins. "One for me and one for that little bump." He put the coins on the bar and slid them across.

Smiling, she takes the coins, a blush forming from her cheeks to the tips of her elongated ears. With a slight bow, she stammers, "Th-thank you!" and slips one coin into a small pocket on her apron and drops the other into a metal box under the bar, that lands with a dull thud.

With the grace of someone well practiced at the art, she deftly pours the dark amber liquor into the mug, finishing with a little flourish, twisting the container in her hand, making a few drops arc upwards from the lip of the bottle, landing in the mug. With a quiet giggle, and a confidence until now masked by her bumbling, she slips the stopper back into the bottle and slides it back under the bar all in one movement.

"So," she begins, her eyes taking in the details of the soldier's armor purposefully, "where do you hail from? I can't say as I recognize those colors or insignia as from around here." Her inquisitive look is all innocence and curiousity, sapphire blue eyes shining in the morning daylight.

"I come from the west, but the nobles around here have hired me to investigate some problems that the knights can't seem to figure out." He picked up his drink and lifted his visor. It was too dark to see his face but his eyes seemed to stand out with a blue glow. "To good health," He toasted before taking a drink.

She nods to him, repeating his toast, with a thoughtful look on her face. A moment passes before she speaks again, worry faintly coloring her words. "Oh! You're a mercenary then? We haven't seen your like 'round here in quite a long time. At least, not any that were doing more than passing through." Giving him one more examining look before finally smiling brightly, a warm and welcoming expression. "Well, I hope we here at the Dragon's Eye can make yer stay pleasant. If y'need anything at all, just ask for Satera. That's me."

"Dekrin's the name, and it's a pleasure. I prefer to consider myself an investigator, not a common mercenary." He took another drink from his mug and brushed a few specs of dust from his tabbard.

The tips of Satera's turn scarlet for a brief moment. "My apologies. I just assumed..." She shakes her head, quickly resuming her cheer, and asks, "So what is it you're investigating exactly, Master Dekrin?"

"Well I was asked to come here to look into some dissapearences of some children but they were found and rescued before I even got here. Istuck around for about a week to see if anything new would come up. One of the rich families that live around here were having a bit of a pest problem in their celar. Normaly I would have refused but it turns out the pests were bloody zombies. Zombies!" He looked down and let out a sigh. "Turns out someone was raising the dead and stuffing them in some old tunnels, and the only ways out are a cave about a mile away and through thier basement. I tell ya, the things people do with magic these days."

* Opens the Door to the building and closes her parasol then gently slides in from her huge Wooden Sandals, Hiding her face with her golden fan, and her Very pale face from the white powder covering her true face, Her eyes are of a deep purple that would scarcely not not catch anyones's glimpse from up close. She comes to sit down next to the boy at the bar and looks to the Maiden and squints her eyes some with her Sakura looking eye makeup. Looks to the Maiden and asks " Do you need entertainment here?" She asks in a broken common accent. Slightly bowing in agreement*

Satera shudders a bit at the mention of zombies, making a sign of warding in the air with one hand, then leaning forward on the bar. "Indeed, such things are most foul. I've heard of some folk using dark arts like that, but never from one who'd been so closely involved."

Glancing up at the sound of the door-bell, she gestures her chin towards the newcomer, lowering her voice to a whisper. "Now here's someone worth an investigation..." Straightening up, she smiles brightly at the foreign woman, readying her usual greeting, but pausing long enough for the girl to cut her off, leaving Satera blankfaced while struggling to understand her question.
"What? Entertainment?"
