For the last name, it could be either. His creator was Gackpoid, but unlike the other Vocaloids, him, Lily, and Gumi have actual singers instead of voice actors, and they could go by their official last name or the name of their voice donors. : )

Three favorite female vocaloids: Rin, Lily, and Gumi (Luka too, but we only can name three)

Three favorite male vocaloids: Kaito, Len, and Gakupo.

Two favorite utauloids: Neko (check out sango312, you'll see who it is then), and Teto.
And Hiyama isn't an utauloid, he's an official vocaloid like Yuki. ^^ They were released to be a set and are great for duets with each other, but unfortunately, people thought of it as a symbol of *****, and they weren't widely accepted as vocaloids.

Yeah, but he wasn't released with a five year old. >.> He was released with Meiko, but even so, often does duets with Miku or the Kagamines, and there's not much of an age difference between him and most of the mascots anyways. He's supposed to be twenty, Meiko is supposed to be 23, Miku is supposed to be 16, and the Kagamines are supposed to be 14. People dislike Hiyama because he was supposed to be 25-30 (i forgot the age) and Yuki was supposed to be barely starting elementary. >.> Noneless, I actually like him, he sounds like a higher, clear Kaito, and he also has a breathing thing (don't know what it's called) that can make him sound more realistic! : ) I hope that people figure out how to use his voice better so we can hear some better songs from him! ^^ (I have found a few, great original songs, it's when people try to make him sing a cover that it makes me sad. They don't even bother to edit the vsq. to match his voice, same thing is happening with Lily, but she got a little more luck and is getting more and more original songs by the hour)

Vocaloid news:
Rin and Len append will soon be out on market in summer of 2011
Mizki (VY1) will be officially out on the 1st of September.
Gachapoid who will be developed by Internet Co., Ltd. (the same people who released Gakupo, Lily, and Gumi) and will be officially out on market October 8, 2010
AH Software will be releasing a Japanese female vocaloid in October 2010
Zero-G will be releasing an English vocaloid out in 2010, but it has not been confirmed when, or it's name, not even it's gender. : (
A male Japanese vocaloid called CV04, will be developed soon by Crypton Future Media. Not much is known about him yet.
Crypton also has a "Project if..." with a mysterious, child-like voice yet to be revealed.
PowerFX are working towards other Vocaloids
Vocaloid 3 has been confirmed, and is said to be aimed to be Yamaha's most "realistic voice engine yet."

I actually don't know much! xD I'm not even a Vocaloids user, I just listen to the music that the others make. >.> Every once in a while I go to the vocaloid wiki to see if anything new was out, but other than that, I don't do much! xD
