A lot of books I read, heck even whole genres, I find that I have huge difficulties finding fellow fans of, especially among my friends and family. The internet helps to some degree in connecting me with other fans, but even then there are some fantastic books I've read that I can find hardly any fans of. There are just some books out there that you read and fall in love with and then nobody seems to have even heard of it. Maybe it's just me that this happens to often and I need to find more friends with similar taste in books, but I'm sure most of us have experienced something like this at least once. I just hate the feeling of being so hyped up about something and having no one to share it with. Makes me feel like I'm going to explode. So, console me with your tales of woe.

I tried explaining A Wrinkle in Time to a tween once. The fact they were saving her father not her boyfriend sounded "stupid" to her. It depresses me a little that my favorite book is virtually unknown.
But usually, when I read something really good, a group of people who trust my taste will pick it up and try it themselves. This only causes problems in a series when they buy and read the rest of the series faster than me.
People keep wanting to talk to me about something that happens further in the Dresden Files, but I'm only on book 2, and insist on no spoilers.

More often then not, I'm reading obscure books by today's standards, so nobody in my age group knows they even exist. If I lived 10 years ago, plenty of people would have read them... probably. For instance, the book Time and Again, is one of my favorites. I haven't checked online communities, but nobody I have ever met personally (in my generation) has ever heard of it.

I was talking about one of my all time favorite book to a friend and her reply was "'Are you shure thats a REAL book and not a dream?'" It was sad no one in my school heard of it, and even more so that my friend though I made it up.

Well, it happens sometimes, especially with the more obscure fantasy novels I read, but then I just manage to lend it to someone I know who I think will like it, and I try to be patient. Right now my boyfriend has oe of my favorite novels and I'm always asking him where he's at to talk about the book. razz So far he loves it.
