Okay, I forgot to say when the discussions would be opened. We'll start on The Invasion on January 1st and each book discussion will last 1-2 weeks (until Miri, Atekius, or I say it's over). That means it will take about a year and a half tops to finish the series. My next post will be the list of books as far as I know them. I'll list the numbers up to where my knowledge ends, then a bunch of blanks, then go from where I'm for sure again.

Just wondering, why are the discussions starting next year? I think it'd be okay to start right away, as there's plenty of books to last us a long time anyway wink

If I could make a suggestion, why don't you edit your first post to reflect the list so people won't have to scroll down? Unless you were planning on doing that already, then -fives-. We can always delete these extra posts so it wouldn't be cluttered.

Yeah. Okay. I'll do that. Tomorrow. And why Jan. 1st, Miri? So I have time to get ahold of the books I'm missing if at all possible. And so anyone who wants to discuss the books with us can get ahold of copies themselves.

Awesome!! ^_^ In depth discussion!! ^_^ Can't wait! Has anyone ever highlighted and marked comments on their books, like textbooks? Cause I haven't, but I sometimes feel like it...0_o

She puts a sticky note at the start of each chapter and summarizes the chapter in a few sentences on the sticky note. 3nodding

I just bought the last three I needed off Amazon last night, and they should be here in a few days (yay). Also, since there are only five days left until we begin discussing The Invasion, I'd like to take this time to remind everyone who will be participating in our Book Chat that they need to find their copy of the first two books ASAP. I'll probably be on at midnight (Indiana time) to open the discussion, so be ready! Remember: You can talk about the book we're on and that book only. If it looks like a good conversation is being had, I may opt to make a separate thread for that book so the discussion can continue after we have moved to the next books. As you can tell from our list, I have not included the Alternamorphs books in our discussion list. I saw no reason to. I read evey available pathway once, and even if I don't read again for a year I will still remember how to "win" the book, so it's no fun to me. And I can't imagine how we'd discuss them anyway.

Well, this is quite nice to come back to. Just came back from Taiwan yesterday =3 haven't had a chance to read the book again, but from what I remember, the discrepancies were.. pretty interesting. This one was not the first book I read, so.. was interesting reading Jake's POV. I think it definitely was a good start to the series. Was very exciting~ How she handled how all the characters reacted was very realistic, at least for the kids. Not too sure about the adults. <.<
But yeah, I really liked the first book. ^^ the thing about humans also being able to thoughtspeak was a bit o.o but since she removed it in later books, worked out well. Was also awesome to meet Elfangor~ from their point of view. I still don't quite understand why he didn't just morph out and let himself heal, but going to guess it was because he knew it was his time. << After all, he had seen the Ellimist's timeline thingy, so.. knew it was his job to give the kids the ability to morph, not to go back in time himself to change things.

Oooh, how was Taiwan??
Aww, nobody loves book 1. That's so sad.... And what does he mean "The wound is fatal. I will die."?!?!?! DID THE DUMB@$$ FORGET HE COULD MORPH?! How could he just leave his poor son like that?!?! Especially after he learned Loren was MIA.... *Elfangor fangirl* And I got bored in the middle of rereading it. My tl;dr rehashing of my memory is that Visser 3 must be shot. And why does it take until book 4 for Ax to get through to them, I wonder?? I kinda felt bad for Jake when he found out Tom was a Yeerk, but it was also kinda funny. And, K.A.'s descriptions were definantly aimed at kids. No detail at all. Ick. Of course, this is coming while I'm in the middle of reading Wheel of Time, so it's interesting to note the differences between a children's book and one aimed at more advanced readers...
TL;DR: No one loves book 1, Elfangor fangirl, Jake's an idiot, and K.A. should have used better descriptions.

K.A. Applegate seems to be a capable enough author, so I'm going to go with the guess that the lack of description has to do with the voice of the character.
And uh.. as for Book 4, I'm going to guess it's 'cause they didn't have enough morphing experience. Plus maybe it took him a bit of time to tune up the equipment needed? But that's for another discussion~
Aw. xD I liked book 1!
And I'll answer the Taiwan question in the Bump thread to prevent off-topic discussion.
