This thread is for you, my companions delving into the deep! Behold as I make my debut, with perfect timing! I can now begin to woo the fair maiden who has held my attention for so long, the lovely and beautiful Holly Short. One day, her heart shall be mine, just as mine is hers~<3
Oh yes...and there are some things in the book about Butler and Juliet, his pretty-but-not-as-fetching-as-my-princess sister. I'm glad to see her again. The last time we were together was the Mafiya thing.
And I got to spend time with my good friend, the noble steed! 8D

Do you know how insufferable you are, Orion? You're ruining my reputation by your constant appearance, which is no good for anyone. I admit you have some stronger physical capabilities...but that does not mean that you are superior to my intellect in any way.

Oh, does Arty have a little "competition" now? ;D
I seriously wish I could get my hands on this book. However, all the book stores in town are going out of business. D:

I wasn't particularly enamored The Atlantis Complex. It lacked the usual brilliance of the series, and wasn't nearly dramatic or dynamic enough. Personally, I found the entire thing to be anticlimactic: when I read the preview, I assumed that there would be many space probes attacking, as opposed to a single one. I had also hoped to see more of Trouble Kelp, and was therefore greatly disappointed when he appeared in all of four pages. I think that the decline of the series began in The Time Paradox, and continued into the terrible disappointment that was The Atlantis Complex. It feels as though Eoin Colfer has lost his touch, which saddens me greatly. The only good thing about The Atlantis Complex was Juliet's return: other than that, the plot was flat, the characters boring, the storyline unrealistic, and the ending predictable. All I can hope is that if Eoin Colfer writes an eighth book, it will be better than this one.

Ahahaha, sorry Artemis, but GO ORION GO!!!! I will always prefer Artemis, but Orion gave me a laugh. XD
And contrary to most of these reviews, I loved Atlantis Complex, and think the books are getting better as they go. I'm not entirely sure what you people are getting out of the first few, because the first book I found had a much plain-er plot than any of the last few. I accidently started on the second one, and glad I did because if I had started on the first, I likely wouldn't have continued the series. I loved Artemis as evil, but it was so pretictable, even for a kids book.
So I'm loving where the story is going from here. I grew up with Artemis, and still am, even though I'm older than him now. And I think a lot of you did too and are suddenly expecting too much out of a children's/pree-teen's book. After all that is the audience of the series.
I thought Atlantis Complex was absolutely brilliant. I always admire Colfer's ability to write from almost any point of view, even from mentally ill Artemis' perspective. He did a fantastic job allowing us to relate with Artemis' condition. And really, this was the best battle yet. This wasn't Artemis against himself, this was Artemis against his own mind, on top of another villian. And where I agree that I did miss a lot of the older characters, N1, Trouble, Opal, the twins, etc, you can't get everyone in at the same time. There's only so much room for so much. And they made an appearance at least, which is something.
Also, unlike the other books, I didn't see this ending coming. I guessed re-capturing or killing Turnball, but I didn't expect him to... well do what he did. And Turnball's actions echoed incredibly with some of the things Artemis was battling in his head. It was an incredibly deep book if you read between the lines, and I think this went over a lot of people's heads who were expecting just that, something more.
I enjoyed the book, and would read it again in an instant.

At least your close to his age... I'm 17, so I'm almost 3 years his senior. Mwahaha. I have seniority. He probably wouldn't like me telling him that. mrgreen And hmmm... the way Atlantis Complex ended, I think there's a likely chance that Colfer will just pick up where he left off in the last one in the fairy hospital instead of starting something new.
