So, those of you who are a sucker for free items may have noticed our latest sponsored item, the "Easy-A Pin". I did what I always do--which was to put the trailer on mute and come back later to see what I got--and was pleased to find an item that reminded me a lot of my Out Campaign scarlet letter lapel pin. Which is no coincidence--since Easy A and the Out Campaign symbol are both inspired by The Scarlet Letter.
Considering the closest thing we've had before to a symbol for our demographic was the A pose of the wingding shirt, it seems like an item with some possibilities. On the other hand, most people will probably associate it with the cheesy and forgettable teen movie it's supposed to represent. And even once the movie is inevitably erased from the public consciousness, people would still more likely ID it as a reference to The Scarlet Letter. So, I don't know how useful it really is.
