I will probably be stepping on some toes so I don't apologize for anything I say here.
Recently we've been hearing the debate here on the President's religion. For some reason a portion of America believes the President is Muslim.
Why the nation believes such idiocrities I will never understand, but what is even more of a source of annoyance is why it even matters.
To me it shouldn't matter what religion a person is a good leader is a good leader regardless of if they're christian, buddhist, jewish, pagan etc.... religion doesn't make someone a good leader it doesnt even make them a good person I know plenty of good,honest,wonderful, amazing people who are pagan and some who follow the christian faith and likewise i know of some pretty terrible people.
This is not a discussion of whether or not we think Barack Obama is a good president or not, I am here to discuss why it should matter what faith a political leader follows. so people tell me why i should give a damn

I dont think it should matter at all. i think the idea is that Americans would be scared to have a president who is Muslim because of the whole terrorist thing ((which i think is retarded)). i couldnt care less on his religion. Hwe is a great guy and not many people are giving him credit because they say he isnt doing much. He isnt doing much only because he has to clean an 8-year mess left by Bush!

YES! I'm agreeing with you 100%. I'm not American, but that's a great point!
I believe that's what true racial harmony is - simply not caring what religion your friends are... and that should be the same with famous people too.
The only thing I can think of is that people think Obama might be a bomb-blowing Muslim, but I don't see him showing any interest in blowing up stuff... and on that note, not all Muslims do that - only the extremist types. I've seen newspaper articles here in Singapore which talks about how Muslims are trying to stop that extremist thinking, especially in the young...

well i am sure glad some one agrees with me. I've been debating with my father about this and to give you an idea of how that is, if you've ever watched American Dad it's kinda like that.
I am the left wing liberal 'hippy' and my dad is the uptight right wing super gun enthusiest asswipe. i don't like my dad . infact all he could seem to comment on was the fact that i have a potty mouth . why the ******** should it even matter he should be happy that mom raised a smart beautiful intellegent woman who can think for her own damn self rather than just follow whatever the ******** media says.
((on a lighter note I keep forgettign you're from singapore I bet you have one of those really adorable accents too awwwww ehehe ))

you're right, Ruby. I know my friend's grandpa would get so pissy about the whole Obama thing b/c he never really liked him. He would argue about the president's religion and i cant help but laugh at the whole thing. he also argued the president was never born in the US, but i think thats BS. He was born in Hawaii. I mean John McCain couldnt have been president anyway. He wasnt born in the US
