The bards were not just masters of storytelling. They were renowned performers, telling their stories in verbal, song, and stage form. By telling their stories with intense and genuine feeling, accompanying their poems with meaningful songs, or displaying the action in a dramatic acting performance, bards enraptured their audiences not only with wording genius, but with performing skills.

Therefore, to display these aspects of a bard, this topic will be for whatever works of a bard cannot be accurately portrayed with written word alone. This will mean:
~songs (You know how it is. Some song lyrics simply aren't as powerful or as meaningful without the melody.)
~plays and skits (Stories that depend on actions to make them better.)

Plus anything else where typed words simply aren't enough.

And what better to start our collection with than]"The Bard's Song", by Blind Guardian?

How about we follow that with "Skalds and Shadows", also by Blind Guardian, also about bards?

And now, ladies and gentlemen, if I may direct your attention to center stage! Two of the finest actors ye shall ever see shall amaze thee with wit, humor, and skill! Presenting my favorite rendition of "Sure Thing" by David Ives!

(Make sure you watch both parts one and two. And warning: there is brief profanity.)

A brief edit from the cat. Sorry, folks, apparently our preferred presentation of "Sure Thing" has been removed. Until we find another version we like, we'll have to ask you for your forgiveness, because the link above won't work.

A song selected by my mentor, one my cousin is currently trying to sing... But it's not quite the same, partially because my cousin is a girl, and partially because my cousin is tone-deaf...

Anyway, a song that goes hand-in-hand with any romance stories involving overbearing parents or other barriers. This song's lyrics are probably its strongest point.

May I present? "Sylvia's Mother" by Dr. Hook and the Medicine Show.

Jim Henson has given us so much in the way of storytelling - particularly in storytelling and performance. It's too bad more people don't know about this little project of his! "The Storyteller" will tell you stories the good way - the way that feels like you're sitting with him by the fire, on a dark night, listening wide-eyed to a fantastic tale, words woven to wrap around you and warm you in the cold.
