Long ago people actually believed in spirits, gods, and demons. Now they are considered a myth. Among those myths is the story of a human man who owned a strawberry farm and a kitsune woman who loved to eat the strawberries. It was your typical love story. The man and woman got closer to each other and eventually bedded with one another. From that union a child was born. Half fox and half human he ran the strawberry farm and married a human. They had a human child. She married a fox and they had a half human half fox child. That pattern continued for hundreds of years. Each child ran the strawberry farm.
Now Kitsune runs the farm, but he hates the foxes that often visit. He cannot prevent them from coming however because they are kin and the strawberry farm is in the foxes' territory. He ignores them and just cares for the strawberries whiich he really loves.
He is now at the age that his ancestors married at, but he has no interest in the opposite sex and has no desire for men. The foxes have been watching him as he grew up and have been waiting for his father's permission to approch him. It has been given. He is now 18 and eligible to be married. Kitsune doesn't know open season has been declared on him, but he has been feeling strange lately. He never goes outside at night anymore.

Kitsune woke up an hour before dawn. He went through his morning rituals of bathing and dressing. Then he went downstairs to the kitchen and made himself a simple breakfast. Eggs, fried potatoes, a peach, and some milk. He got himself some toast and started to eat. When he was done he took the dishes to the sink and washed them. He dried them and put them away. Breakfast and dishes done he cleaned the table before going to the door and putting his shoes on.
Once his tan work boots were tied he went out to begin the day's chores. He went to where he kept the hose and unwound the whole thing. He turned it on before dragging it out to the fields of strawberries that he took care of by himself. Well, it was three fields so he could manage it himself. he was dressed simply in a blue tank top and a pair of jeans with his work boots. His silver cross necklace gleamed in the strengthening sun.
He started to carefully water his plants. He kept a bit of a watch for foxes. He doubted that they would be up so early, but he couldn't be sure any more. Lately they had been acting strange. They'd watch him and try and get closer to him than before. Before they would only cast him curious looks, now they watched him intently. It made him nervous. He didn't like foxes so when ever they got too close for comfort he would spray them with the hose or throw something at them. He didn't get what was going on and that in itself unnerved him more.

Hinote woke from a restless sleep, hours before sunlight would chase away the shadows of night. He finished his morning routine quickly and efficiently and made his way outside of his living space. Today he was going to take a look at the strawberry farm-boy that he’d been hearing so much about. Other foxes like himself seemed highly interested in the silver-haired youth, himself excluded, and now he was going to see what the fuss was about.
Before, he’d never given a second thought for the boy or the farm; Sweets weren’t really his thing, fruits included, but he had to admit that he was fairly curious about the boy now, as he heard about him from other nogitsune and myoubu almost every day.
Frowning, the redhead changed into fox-form and raced off in the direction of the infamous (among foxes) strawberry farm. When he arrived, there were no other foxes around, only the silver-haired boy with amazingly sky-blue eyes. The boys eyes weren’t visible at the moment, and it was still too dark to see their color yet, so he didn’t know of their true brilliance. He could see the form of a person looking after the plants, and knew it had to be the one he’d heard about. ’Kitsune was his name, wasn’t it? How fitting…’ He smirked to himself, thinking that if the boy were to end up with a being like himself, then the name would be ironic in a way.
Just then, the sun lit up the entire sky now, and Hinote was able to more clearly make out Kitsune’s figure. Red eyes widen at the angelic appearance of the younger male. He was breath-taking, pale kin, hair, eyes that made the sky dull in comparison.. His body was fit and slender as well.. A very appealing potential mate for any fox.
Hinote found himself desiring the boy for himself, and that in itself was enough to keep him at a distance from the boy. He couldn’t believe that he would think of wanting another male, let alone a half-breed one at that. And the other wasn’t even half nogitsune. Careful observation of the silver-haired male was all he would do…((That was all I could come up with....))

As the sun brightened the sky the water sprinklers Kit had in his fields turned on. Every part of the fields exept for a nine foot by nine foot area in the field he was standing in was being watered at once. He had set it up that way. He finished watering that area while the sprinklers took care of the rest. He had yet to get a sprinkler for that one spot in his fields so he watered it himself.
The half breed dragged the hose back to the house, turned the water off, and put the hose away. Then he got two baskets from his shed. They were large wicker baskets. One was for the ripe strawberries he was going to harvest. The other was for weeds he pulled out. He never used pesticides or weed killers. He didn't believe in them. With a basket under each arm he walked back to the field he had just been in and started weeding and picking strawberries as the sprinklers finished watering the strawberries and started to turn off.
After a while his hair started to get annoying. He put the weed he had just pulled into its proper basket and pulled his hair back. It was while he was tying it back that he saw the lone fox watching him. He scowled and looked for more. It brought him no relief that so far no other foxes had come. He finished tying his hair up and went back to work. He didn't wear gloves when he worked so he had a little dirt in his hair from his hands. He didn't like wearing gloves. They made his hands clumsy and they annoyed him. He'd rather get dirty then be uncomfortable.
It won't be long before more come and then some will probably try to get close to me. He picked a ripe strawberry and put it in the basket.

After observing him for a few hours of boring strawberry picking/weed pulling, Hinote moved away, out of sight of the half-breed and turned back into his human-form. He’d noticed the scowl when the silver-haired male had seen him, and figured that approaching as a fox would be a bad idea. He fixed his clothing, which had rumpled from being transformed, and returned to the field and back into the visual range of the male.
Amethyst eyes glanced at the male before sweeping over the field and around the borders of the field. He could tell that other, lower-level foxes were approaching, and his purple glance was enough to deter them from approaching for the time being. He sneered at that, then smoothed his expression into something more friendly and started walking towards the smaller male who was still laboring away with weed-picking and strawberry-gathering.
Hinote noticed the dirt smudges in the boy’s hair from when he’d pulled it back, and couldn’t help the little chuckle from escaping past his lips.

At the sound of a small chuckle, Kitsune looked up and around. His senses were telling him 'fox' but his eyes were saying human since that was what was walking toward him. A bright red headed boy whom he had never seen before was walking toward him. Kitsune rose gracefully to his feet and glared at the stranger. He had figured out that this boy was a fox. He picked up his baskets and and started to walk away.
He wasn't going to the house, but near it. He had to dump the weeds in the trash and he had to sort and box the strawberries he he had picked. He assumed the fox was coming to try to talk to him and then was going to eat strawberries. He dumped the weeds first and then hosed the mud off his hands. Once they were clean he started sorting and packaging the strawberries.
He completely ignored the fox, hoping it would take a hint and leave him be. Sky blue eyes darted over the strawberries, searching for imperfections, worm holes, bruises, or if the fruit was damaged and split open. Each strawberry he found something wrong with went into a pile to be considered if it was possible for him to eat them. The good ones were set carefully into a carton.

A smirk. So the boy would play the ‘see no evil. Hear no evil. Speak no evil.’ ignoring game. He was rather good at that. He was patient enough that the person doing the ignoring got annoyed and snap at him long before he got bored. So, that in mind, he merely stood a short distance away behind the boy and watched as the boy separated good strawberries from the bad.
He also made sure that no other foxes got close to the boy, his presence being enough deterrent for the majority of them. He sniffed disdainfully as he noticed a strawberry being placed incorrectly and moved to place it in the right container. The strawberry had no external imperfections, but his sense of smell detected it was already bad on the inside.
Purple eyes took the moment in which he was near to the boy to sweep over the silver-haired male’s body once more. There was nothing lustful or perverted in the look, merely an almost clinical interest. Neither had spoken, and he was not going to be the one to break the silence first. And so time passed of him watching the farm-boy silently and the farm-boy ignoring him while inspecting the strawberries.
He was dressed in expensive clothing, and the boy was dressed in simpler work clothes. The boy had eyes that could make the sky pale in comparison, while he was eyes that looked like amethyst. His hair was red like blood, the boy’s was silver like the moon. The boy worked with strawberries and seemed to like them, while he rather disliked sweet things - Strawberries being close to the top of the list, but not quite his least favorite.

Kitsune noted that the male had followed him and was now standing close behind him. What he didn't get was why the male was silent. Normally when they followed him they tried desprately to talk to him and get his attention. Is he going to just stand there staring at me all day?!! What's with this guy? He didn't say a word though and continued his work.
When the fox moved a strawberry he almost yelled at him to keep his hands off his work. He stopped himself though. Instead he continued to work. He noted that there were no other foxes around. He was all alone with this guy. Perfect. By the time he was done sorting he was wondering why the annoying fox hadn't left yet. Does he have the patience of a saint or something?!!!
He started packing the cartons of strawberries into boxes so he could put them in the storage shed. He did this rather quickly. He picked up one of the boxes and shoved it into the fox male's arms. If he was going to be hanging around watching him he could work. Kitsune then picked up a box himself and wordlessly walked toward his storage shed. He expected the male to be smart enough to follow him or put the box down and go away.

Hinote smirked when the male placed a box in his arms and began walking away with another. He smirked and followed, though he usually acted like he was above such menial labour. He didn't mind, as it would maybe help him win the 'silence contest' game they were playing.. or rather that he was playing with the silver-white haired teen.
He took the chance to observe the boy's bottom as the male walked in front of him. He found that he liked what he saw, but turned his gaze away before it could be noticed.
Just as they arrived at wherever the boy stored the strawberries, his cellphone began blaring 'Fairytale Gone Bad' by Sunrise Avenue. He cursed silently and placed the box down somewhere safe and pulled it from his jacket/vest pocket. He flipped it open and made a small sound that indicated he was listening.
He glowered as the speaker continued reporting in, and flicked a glance towards the farm-boy. His glance said, 'you win this time kid', and he turned his attention back to the phone call.
"Fine... don't blow a fuse, I'm heading back now." And hung up without waiting for the reply to finish. He stuffed the phone back into it's pocket and finished helping bring the single box of strawberries into the storage area. He still hadn't spoken to the boy, true, but he had spoken. His voice, like a cascading waterfall, deep and rumbling with a commanding air had broken their silence.
It was a loss in his mind.
He gave the boy a look that said 'I'll see you again' and left, glaring at the idiot fox that decided to get closer while he was 'distracted'. He snarled at it and warned away all the foxes that were ready to use his absence to get close to the boy. His snarl informed that very dire consequences should one of them hover too close to the farm-boy.

Kitsune almost jumped when he heard the sound of a cell phone going off. He looked over his shoulder and saw that the male had indeed followed him. At least I can make him useful. He was completely oblivious to the fact that the other had been checking his butt out. He stacked his box on top of another inside the shed. He noticed the look, but it bemused him.
He walked out of the shed and leaned against the side of it while the fox made his phone call. The half breed supervised as the male put his box away. He got another look and gave a look of his own that said 'Don't bother'. Once he was gone Kitsune went to get another box and knew that he was about to get more company. Even with the red head's warning he doubted the others would keep their distance. He finished putting the boxes in storage and put the bad ones in a carton. Then he went inside.
Once inside he went to the kitchen. He set the carton on the table before he washed his hands. Then he went about making himself some tea. He'll be back. Why can't they all just leave me alone? He sighed and turned on some music. 'Monster' by Skillet soon filled the house.

Hinote snarled one more warning, this time in Fox Form, and began running back to the part of the city that he lived in. It wasn't long before a small black limo pulled to a stop before him and one of the fox's that worked for him stepped out. He came to a stop and transformed. Clearly running around the city in his fox form while humans were awake was a bad idea.
He sat in the car without speaking a word, the man following and closing the door behind him. The car turned and entered the city, taking him to the building that his family owned and ran. When they arrived, his friend and the one who had called him, was waiting for him.
He gave the brunette a glare that told the other that he was less-than-pleased. However, it was important that Hinote be there, and so it wasn't his friend's fault.
"And how did it go with the farm-boy?" Was whispered as he passed the brown-haired half nogitsune who was his childhood friend. He snarled slightly in response. Golden eyes shone knowingly, while his amethyst eyes narrowed in anger.
