A full moon lit the night sky, shining down on the small clearing Selene had found. She'd gone off by herself tonight, handing Kalani off to Kallisto to watch. It was odd to not see the three of them together, but such as a proper occasion. Full moons were the night Selene got to herself, where she could wander off and gaze up at the sky and dream of falling into it. She was a nocturnal one, Selene. She preferred to come out in the evenings when the air was cool and the darkness could envelope the world around her, the only light being that of the moon and stars. She felt a certain connection to the night, but it was a lonely time. Everything else slept away in the darkness....and she was left alone.

It was an average night for Shir, wandering through the forests on his own. The twilight-colored Hollow had irregular sleeping patterns. Some days he woke with the sun, others with the moon. He was on a nocturnal kick now, and wouldn't be bedding down until the sun began to rise.
It was a calm and peaceful night, with a beautiful full moon in the sky. Shir was appreciating the view he managed to glimpse through the trees and the cool night air flowing through his coat. The Hollow was something of a solitary creature, enjoying nature as his only companion. Not to say he didn't enjoy the company of others, but few were up to his crazy schedule.
The sky suddenly opened up. Shir had wandered into a meadow. A quick double-take showed it wasn't unoccupied, either. A female Hollow, deep blue and decorated with stars and moons, blended with the darkness. They actually had very similar colors.
Shir paused for a moment, unsure if he should back out of the meadow and give the female solitude or introduce himself.

Selene watched a star streak across the sky, closing her eyes and making a quick wish...a wish that for one night she wasn't alone. Hopeful for this little star she looked around, spotting Shir with her dark adjusted eyes. She smiled at him, glad to see someone. She gave a light wave with her paw, hoping he'd come over and engage her in some friendly conversation, thanking the little star for the presence of another in the otherwise lonely night.

Shir smiled in response to the female's friendly greeting. He strolled slowly over, enjoying the feeling of grass brushing against his paws.
He stopped a few feet away from night female and sat. "Hello. I did not mean to disturb you, I was distracted by the night sky." His head tilted back to view the stars, then back to the female. "They're beautiful at this time. It is a shame most are asleep and cannot see them."

Selene nodded in agreement, “I know. The sky‘s at it‘s peak in the later hours, and yet hardly anyone gets to see. A shame the sun hogs all of the attention in the day of both the sky and ground.” She smiled, “And you‘re not disturbing me, I figured you were a friend sent by the little shooting star that just flew by.” She looked back up at the sky, “We could learn a lot from the stars, granting wishes to others and working in harmony with each other and the moon to create something beautiful.” She looked back at Shir and gave an embarrassed sort of look, “But I‘m sorry, I ramble. My name‘s Selene D‘Lunare, Moon of the Moon, and you?”

Shir chuckled in amusement. A friend sent by a shooting star? That was a new one to him, a pleasant new.
"Do not be so quick to doll harsh words upon the sun. The moon cannot glow without it. It is a very balanced relationship that they have." Shir stopped himself when he would have continued with his opinion on the stars as well, and chuckled quietly. "It appears I ramble on as well."
Shir was silent for a moment, taking in the quiet of the night, then realize he was probably being rude by not introducing himself as Selene had done. "I'm sorry, I appear scatterbrained tonight. Your name is quite beautiful. I am called Shir. I believe it means "song", though I have no musical abilities to boast of." He ducked his head in an embarassed sort of way.

"Rambling's okay," Selene chimed, knowing herself very guilty of it on many occasions, "It means you have thoughts and opinions, and you aren't afraid to express them." Truth be told she'd been told that herself a long while back. She laughed a bit at his embaressment of his name, "Maybe there's more than one meaning to 'song'. After all, I have heard of such a thing as 'the song of silence' or something like that. It sounds mysterious." She was thankful of his compliment, but often forgot to express such when things like that happened. She tended to focus more on others than herself. "In any case, it's quite nice to meet you."

"Likewise. It is always a nice thing, to make a new friend." Shir took in a deep breath, chest expanding as his lungs filled with the cool night air. He luxuriated in the feeling of the breeze running through his fur, the grass under his paws, and moonlight spilling over him, and the company beside him.
Half of him wanted to offer Selene to walk with him. Sometimes moving made everything else more still. That half was thwarted by inept social skills; he had no idea how to begin to ask.

Selene smiled and nodded before looking back up at the sky, letting her mind wander again amongst the stars. She loved to watch them twinkle and sparkle, like dancers on a stage. Her thoughts circled around though, returning to her newest friend. "Shir," she started, "What do you like to do? For fun I mean." She gave him an interested sort of quizzical look.

Shir thought about the question for a moment. "I look at things. Try to find their secrets, lesser known things. You'd be surprised at how much you miss if you don't stop at just look for awhile. Sometimes I just run, or swim." Shir chuckled lightly. "I fear most don't qualify that as 'fun'."

"I love to look at things! Well....not as much as Kallisto, but she's always been more of an observer than myself," Selene chimed, "And while I'm not much of a swimmer, you'd want to talk to Kalani about that, running's always nice. It's the closest I can get to flying about the stars." She nodded, actually rather pleased with his answer. She didn't realize though, that her friend may not know either of the names she spoke of.

((Um, uuummmm *sweatdrop*... I guess he will be without knowledge of Kallisto for this rp. Same with the others. Like a total memory blank.))
"It sounds like these others, Kallisto and Kailani, balance you out nicely. You are fortunate to have them."
Shir meant his words, with no pang of envy. He was quite used to being on his own. Selene's company at the moment was plenty enough to make him content.

((It's okay. I realized after I typed it we never set up a timeline XD Selene's very prone though of bringing up others in conversation))
Selene smiled, "I never thought of it that way. We never intended to find each other." She giggled. "But what about you Shir? Do you have a little group you hang with?" She tilted her head in question, "Or do you just show up when Hallows wish on stars?"

"You are the first Hollow I have seen in, quite some time I believe. My life-style does not seem to appeal to many, so I end up traveling alone."
Most seemed to pity Shir for this; no home, no family. He didn't understand why. He had a home, the earth gave him a place to live. Family could always come at a later time, there was no need to have one before he met the right person to start it with.
Maybe he had been a little less content with his solitude as of late, but Shir was still far from unhappy with his life.

Selene listened and nodded, "I used to be like that. And I didn't used to mind too much either. As long as you're happy I suppose." Selene was glad to have made the friends she did, but tonight was proof enough of her enjoyment of occasionally going back to the way things were and enjoying the night by herself and whoever else may wander by. Unlike her youngest friend Kalani, she didn't necessarily need companionship, but it was always nice.
