The sky turned pink as the sun began to set, the view lovely from the open field that Kallisto had often frequented. For once, she would have her night alone, Selene and Kalani off and about without her. These nights didn't come often, but Kallisto thoroughly enjoyed them when they did come.
She stared up at the sky, watching the tiny glints of appearing stars and smiling. She loved how they shined against the darkness of the sky, as her own sparkles shone against her fur. The spectacular sight absorbed her in her own little world, oblivious to anything else around her.

Shir was wandering around aimlessly. It was how he was used to traveling; alone and unbound. He had seen so many different sights, met many other Hollows. It was an idle life. He didn't feel the need to settle down yet. Maybe if he met the right girl.

Night was falling and Shir was moving slowly along. The air smelled fresh and clean. It was one of those moments that made you content with life. A small smile played on his face.

Shir stopped on a small rise to watch the sky as twilight settled over the land. Stars began to twinkle in the sky. Out of the corner of his eye Shir noticed another sparkle; a slight red gleam. What was that?

Curious, he moved towards the source. It didn't seem to be a fire, it was too steady and small. As he got closer he noticed it formed a pattern. It was though a piece of the sky had fallen to the ground, glowing red from the heat of the fall.

A bit closer and the pattern of firey stars turned out to be a female Hollow. Shir sat there, a little stunned. He had never seen a coat like that before. He remained seated, a slight distance off, wondering if he should make his presence known to the female. She didn't seem to have spotted him yet, at least.

Kallisto kept her eyes on the sky, her mind flitting about through the stars, her red ones standing out even against the white and yellows out in the void of space.
She only thing that brought her back to earth was the scent of another present in her area. She paused and closed her eyes, trying to hone in on it. It wasn't anyone she knew, which concerned her a little. She looked around, finally spotting the male, his blue and purple coat blending seamlessly with the twilight sky above him....pity the trees on the ground singled him out. She stared at him quietly, trying to make something of him in her mind, trying to think of what he was like without speaking to him, her nature not allowing her to speak up first.

He had been found out. Well, there were only two options open to him. Walking away was somewhat tempting; by nature Shir wasn't very social. He preferred to sit out and watch others. Taking the initiative was out of his comfort zone.

Still, this female intrigued him. He'd never seen a coat glow like that. And if anything could overcome Shir's akwardness, it was his curiousity.

He put a small smile on his face to assure the female that he was hostile, relaxing his features to ooze calm. "I am sorry to disturb you. I was admiring the stars." He looked up at the sky, then back at the female. "Your own piece of sky caught my attention."

Kallisto gave a wry smile at his comment, a very bold statement for one to make before first introductions. She respected that though, because his presence didn't seem overly foreward.
"I too was observing the evening stars. And much thanks my Twilight friend, I do love when even my stars outshine that of the sky and capture the same attention I give her." She gave a light bow, "You're welcome to join my evening, I do quite enjoy conversation." She gestured for him to take a seat beside her, as he seemed friendly enough.

"I thank you." Shir padded forward on silent paws to take the offered spot next to the female. He threw his head back to stare at the sky.

For a few moments he and the red female sat in companionable silence, watching the stars. Shir looked back at the female, radiating peace and calm. "I apologize, I have yet to introduce myself. I am Shir."

Kallisto enjoyed the companionship of the evening, even if it was her night to herself. She turned when he spoke and bowed her head slightly again.
"A pleasure. I'm Kallisto, feel free to shorten that however you please." She looked back up at the sky for a moment before speaking again, "What brings you about on such an evening? Just stargazing?"

"You have a beautiful name," Shir said, voice solemn. It was a compliment, but not the flirting kind.

"I often find my gaze drawn to the sky as it changes. Dawn and dusk are my favorite, watching the stars come out one by one to all slowly retreat as the sky changes color. I feel I would never tire of looking at stars."

Shir's eyes shifted down to Kallisto's starry scarlet pelt, curious, then back to her storm cloud-gray eyes. "Tell me, Kallisto, how does your fur luminesce like it does? It there actual light to it, or it is all in the color and shading of fur?"

"I'm afraid my luminescence is but a trick of the light. The way my fur is colored causes the light to shine off of it, reflecting to wandering eyes, seeming to sparkle," Kallisto explained. She wished that it truly shone in the darkness, but in all reality had grown just as pleased by the illusion. She kept her thoughts of his other statements to herself, not finding a need to express them.
"You are of interesting color yourself, much like the times you enjoy watching."

"It is very kind of you to say," Shir said with a polite smile. In truth he thought his colors too dark and separate from each other to properly represent twilight, but to say so aloud would demean the compliment Kallisto had given.

"Do you have a favorite time of day. Or night," he added, as an afterthought.

"Midnight under the cescent moon," Kallisto replied rather quickly, "The world grows still and quiet, and even I begin to fade into the darkness. Some nights like those it seems the world stops all together." She paused, trying to think perhaps of any other time, "Or," she finally said, "Clear days in Winter, when everything shines." She smiled, a bit embaressed, "Forgive me if I'm too specific for your question, but to generalize all days would not do justice to those few in particular." She didn't like some nights or some days, particulary those that seemed to lack either a difinitive shine or darkness, those days most referred to as gloomy, so she hated to generalize.
"What of you? Though, pardon if I hazard a guess, I would have to say those odd magical hours between times, Dawn and Dusk."

"The moon and stars are quite beautiful, but you are correct. I like to greet the sun as it rises, and bid it farewell as it sinks. To me, that is when the world becomes still and peaceful. Night creatures return to their dens, and daylight animals begin to stir."

"Dawn is actually my favorite," Shir continued, after a brief pause. "The birds sing their own greetings to the day, and mist curls over the grass to give it such an etheral look."

"Sounds calming. Forgive me for this, but I cannot say I get to experience such an hour very often. I am often sleeping at such an hour," Kallisto said, picturing Shir's description. It sounded lovely in its own way.

"I don't always get to see it myself. For now I rise on a schedule opposite of the sun. One day I shall completely reverse my sleeping pattern, though I don't know when that would be." Shir turned his head to watch Kallisto as he spoke.

Kallisto tilted her head, "Change your schedule? My, my, neither a day walker nor night stalker are you?" She chuckled a bit, "Mysterious mysterious indeed." She stared at Shir, trying to get inside his head, to understand exactly what was going on in there, to get past the mystery....but to no avail.
