In my highschool, it was required.
9th grade - Romeo and Juliet 10th grade -Julius Ceasar 11th grade - Hamlet 12th grade - Macbeth
And my 10th grade teacher decided we should read Much Ado About Nothing, too. A comedy and a tragedy, all in one year. xd

I've had to read Both Romeo and Juliet and Mid Summer nights dream. (Sorry if I got the title wrong) for school. I don't like Shakspeare enough to read it on my own

Nah I don't like it enough to read it on my own either. The only one I enjoyed was Hamlet. I thought it was very humorous, but it probably wasn't even supposed to be funny!

I've read some of Romeo and Juliet for school..Thankfully it did not require reading the whole story, since what I read was horrible. I usually don't mind older speech, since I have read Pride and Prejudice, but this was insane.

I don't mind that language that's used, I just don't enjoy Romeo & Juliet as a story.
We actually read half, waited a while and then read the other half. Weird!

I absolutely love Shakespeare/
I remember in middle school the only one we were required to read was A Midsummer Nights Dream.
In my high school though, we were required to real Julius Caesar in 9th (I think Romeo and Juliet was for the regular level English classes), Macbeth in 10th, Hamlet in 11th, and not sure about 12th, and I won't find out either since I am taking Shakespeare instead of the regular English class.
I can't wait.

That's exciting Appypolly Loggy. Maybe you'll read Othello or King Lear.
I actually really want to read The Tempest. I should get around to that at some point.

I took Shakespeare in high school senior year for college credit. We did Hamlet, A Mid Summer, Macbeth, Taming of the Shrew, the Merry Wives of Windsor, the Tempest, and perhaps another that I can't quite... oh Romeo and Juliet, and there was another I think... but it escapes me.

That's really cool, Ryuka Shiroi Bara. What did you do after you'd finish a play? Write papers and have class discussions?

Well for school I had tor read Macbeth and I ended up hating it because of school.
However right now I am reading King Lear without having to look through everything that is said and take notes every five seconds and it is so brilliant. For any fan of reading he really does live up to his reputation and I would say King Lear is a great book to start with. It can be a bit confusing at first but as soon as you get into the rhythm and flow of his writing it's nearly impossible to put down.
