Bad Habits. Things you do often that you shouldn't in situations where it could it could either be life threatening to others or yourself, or just impractical, or unconventional, etc.
One of my bad habits in Monster Hunter, would be immediately carving the tail right after I lopped it off the monster we're fighting at. Now I know you're thinking, "lol Greedy" or something along those lines, but you know.....most of the time the monsters with its tail cut off usually stands back up and roar. That usually is enough time to actually get your carve and resume fighting. However, there are those certain few monsters that skips the animation and immediately counters back. Being hit, possibly in the worst case scenario where in the quest, the party cannot afford the last death, and you're carving the tail or picking up a shiny with less than 20% of your health. Now that's just stupid.
Unless none of those conditions are met, I usually just carve or pick up the shiny because with my armor and its maxed out defense, I know it's not a fatal blow and it will not kill me >_>. Though I shouldn't do it because it could probably be the worst case scenario.
But then again, I usually forget to carve the tails when we kill the monster. So I pretty carve it immediately to prevent that. Besides, no one ever seems to pick up shinies. You never know what you'll get. Probably that Ruby or Plate you've been looking for this whole time. And probably it should be best where you should carve the tail and forget Hunter ettiquettes.
Say for example. You fight Alatreon. You chop his tail. You guys don't bother to carve because its the most riskiest thing to do in this dangerous battle, which is understandable. Then eventually you kill Alatreon who's probably all the way on the other side of the map. If you could part with the tail carves bearing Tails and AzureDragon Gems, that's fine. For those who can't..... *sad face* ): .
Still it's a habit I should break eventually. >_>
And another one is taking First Aid Kits from the Supply Box if I either spawn or happened to be near the area to obtain them. Well.....usually in a good party, people oddly enough skip these freebies and rarely die. Well it seems like a waste if no one takes them, and I end up grabbing most of the First Aids and running off with them. Until you know.....someone dies and they need them lol.
I'll just take 6 out of the 12 potions next time >_> that's usually meant for 3 per member.
So what are your bad habits? This doesn't make you a bad hunter overall. Just little things to know ahead of time, so none of us will raise eyebrows and question later on.
<_< >_>;
Course you know, if you cart yourself 3 times on purpose on any quest for unknown reasons. I don't know what to say to that>_>.

I'm Very trigger happy...... Sometimes when I start fighting and get into the action i have the tendency to hit too much where it becomes dangerous (monster backing up, running you over, or whacking you, etc.....) to stand in that spot......i hate it but when i found out the glorious shield i can be reckless and still have a chance at not getting hit!!!!
but i need to be more cautious from here on though......
and that's my bad habit....

Lol I'm one of those that carves the tail right away and picks up the shiny. Sure, I usually get Wyvern Tears out of them, but there's still the chance for the ruby. And shiny drops don't last that long, so I usually try to pick them up while the monster is still eating. That gives me time to get it and not get hurt, but when other people start coming up and attacking while I'm trying to get the shiny...well...
As for tail carving during Alatreon...my bad habit is that I run around the tail waiting for a chance to carve it, so I'm usually not contributing to the fight at that time >.< I'm usually fighting Ala with randoms, so my reasoning for that is carve the tail before everyone dies.
Also, when I use GS, I like to use the upswing a lot, especially to chop tails. I try to be careful of other people, but during the fight, I'll send a lot of people flying. It saves people sometimes, but other times, it can put them in a spot where they'll die once they stand up. >.<
Anyway, I probably have more, but I can't think of them at the moment. XP

Tail carving. I am very greedy ever since I got a rathalos ruby and lagia saphire from the tails. Also Shiny drops. I have gotten like 6 plates from different monster's. Also a bad habit. Im very cheap.
I have lost missioons because someone doesnt want too use potions and heal up. And I dont want too use my lifepowerds. I only use them if some1 has little health and is stunned.

bad habit is the tail carve. but I tend to have a few decorations on my armor to help with speed gathering. so in the middle of a one on one battle with lagia I can carve the tail and pick up shinies and quickly switch to my lance's shield quickly.

I look for different items while my party fights, also strangely, I always bring a tranq and traps whenever I fight a Lagiacrus, and I always throw stones at monsters XD

I'm kinda greedy with carving but my PREFERRED armor has gathering spree in its skills, and I sometimes forget cool/hot drinks in the correct zones so I have to borrow from others :p. Oh and I'm practicing headlocking, but I've maxed out my gobul armor(my preferred set) completely so you probably don't have to worry about me dying.
