A very different kind of girl transfers to Mica Area High School, and her classmates aren't sure what to think of her.
Genre: Realistic Fiction
Leo is probably my favorite character. He is the first person to give Stargirl a chance (besides Archie) and he goes through so many changes while hanging out with her.
Question: Stargirl has a rat named Cinnamon. How do you feel about unusual pets?

This is such an adorable book! I had to read it for school a while ago. I think it really does say something about how the way we humans are creatures of conformity.
Unusual pets... hmm... I think that they can be cool. I don't have any, but I would certainly accept them if others did have them.

I haven't read this book in a while, but I loved it when I did. I loved how different Stargirl was, because like kapow123 said, we humans just conform. It's not every day you meet someone who is completely unafraid to be themselves and not be part of the mold.
As far as unusual pets go, I mean...well, what do you consider unusual? I don't think a rat is all that unusual. Personally, I feel like having a hedgehog as a pet is unusual, or having a pet tiger.

This book was pretty good. I read it back in 8th grade since it was in my teacher's book cabinet. Of her two books I liked the second the most. She is my character role model!! heart

Well, to first answer the question about unusual pets...
I currently have...15 rats (I used to have over twenty when a breeding accident occurred) and so, I don't find rats very unusual, but I also think they are a great pet (if it is a little difficult to find a vet that is well learned in them)...so...
I absolutely love Stargirl. I relate to her because I am quite a unique individual, and although I am not completely secluded from the rest of the school, my "strange" haircuts, writings, clothing, antics, etc, have started a few rumors in my time. I believe that it is an excellent book for those who are unsure of themselves.

Yup [^=^] (Its a duck) We actually got a big variety in our breeding (everything from full black to a hooded light tan/white) so it was easy to tell them apart...except for our identical twins, but we just called them Jack and Daniel. The first one we saw was Jack haha. Plus, they all seem to have their own personalities. As far as names go, I like to use baby books for characters, so it was pretty easy. Lets see here...alive we have Jet, Indy, Henry, Chloe, Nala, Pecan, Jasmine, Sandy, Rudo, Junior, Estrella, Alice, Benson, Dusty, and Daniel. I love letting them swim in the tub, they are rather adorable =^.^=
