Hey guys, I just need this cleared up. It's been a topic that we've discussed in my Sunday school class, and I've heard preachers discuss it on radio talk shows in the morning. It is abortion. Some say it's unethical to kill a human, but others think that you can have an abortion at a certain stage in pregnancy because it's not really a "human" yet. I'm pro-choice in this matter because why should a mother go through 9 months of pregnancy (which is a long, hard time) if she doesn't even love the baby? I mean, in some cases, it isn't even the mothers falt in getting pregnant!! A lot of people a my church think that you should never kill because it's one of the ten commandments. I'm just so confused here. sweatdrop

Okay...
Well first off, the fetus IS a human. No matter what. No matter when. Whether he/she looks totally human or not, the fetus IS a human.
Do you shoot cripples in the head because they can't function like normal people? Do you chop up people of other ethnicities because they look different? No, you don't. It's murder.
And what does love have to do with this? If you don't love somebody, does that give you the right to kill that person? So that you don't have to "deal with" this person anymore? You can't just off somebody at work because he/she happens to annoy you and you don't really like being around them.
If you are a Christian, you cannot be pro-choice. The reason? You cannot put the choices of people over the will of God. It is written that He knits us in our mother's wombs, that He knows each of us, each hair on our head is numbered.
It's not about killing. If it was wrong to kill, then stepping on an ant would be breaking the commandment.
It IS wrong to murder, and that's what abortion is. Do you realize that a baby has his/her fingerprints by the third month? Did you know that in about ten weeks, the fetus has a fully functioning nervous system? That means they can feel pain. Which means that they can feel the doctor chopping their bodies up. I guess you could say that they don't feel the part where the doctor scrapes out their bloody, innocent, mangled remains and then throws them into the garbage can like they're a piece of trash. But they DO feel the doctor MURDERING them.
Abortion is wrong, and there is no way around it. There is no excuse. You can't say that it's all right to kill an unborn fetus because it's only tissue, because that's all WE are, too. And you can't say that it's all right to kill an unborn fetus because it's not technically human until it looks like a human or it acts like a human. It has human DNA, and I've all ready discussed with you why you can't kill a baby based on functions or looks.
There is pro-CHOICE and pro-LIFE. Which one do you think Jesus Christ is?

Sorry if I came off as somewhat harsh. I feel very negatively about abortion. My grandmother wanted my mom to have an abortion when she was pregnant with me, and she kicked her out of the house because my mom said no.
I hate abortion. It is murder, and it is wrong.

So then let me just ask to keep the conversation going..
If a 13 year old girl gets raped on the streets and gets pregnant because of this, and this 13 year old girl has a chance of dying if she gives birth to this child, would you still want her to have the kid?
Again, this is just a situational thing, and to keep the conversation going, please don't attack me. I would just like opinions, thank you.

Abortion should be used only at times like this. If someone is pregnant because they had sex (not raped) then they should deal with the child. If they can't take care of it, then they shouldn't of had sex.

Yes, but in Lucky's case I think that that would be an ideal situation to have an abortion, I mean what other choice would she have right?

Well, first of all, the 13 year old girl has a CHANCE of dying. But it doesn't mean she will. We are to put faith and obedience to God above our own lives. We are to die for Him if necessary.
So no, I wouldn't want her to get an abortion. I would still say that she needs to have the baby, and I would tell her to look to God for strength and guidance. If she prays and believes, God will get her through it. Because anything is possible with God.
She does have other choices. One of them is trusting in God, having faith in God. As Christians, we are not to worry or fear about our lives or our days or what's happening to us. We are called to trust in God. He will get you through all things.

To further strengthen my point, I will continue..
My mother was breach when she was born, which means she came out butt first, essentially. Her head was badly damaged, as was my grandma's body, from the birthing, and the doctors said that she would die within 24 hours. No hope.
They said if, by a miracle, she did survive, she'd have awful brain damage for the rest of her life.
She lived. And she doesn't have a single ounce of brain damage. The doctors said she was supposed to die. She didn't.
There are doctors who tell people who have cancer that they have 5-6 months to live. But I disagree with that. Only God knows when you will die, and only God can number your days. Not people.
And so again, the young girl should have faith in God and carry the baby. If she dies, then she was faithful and she goes to heaven, and she gets to spend eternity with that baby. If she lives, glory to God. She won't be able to raise it properly, so she'll probably have to put it up for adoption.
If you are a Christian, there is ALWAYS an answer other than abortion.
