I'm not sure if this really belongs here, but I recently found out that Gays can legally be married in california!!! I think this is a big victory for all atheists, simply because it shows that we do have some power. (remember, it was religious people who came up with the rule) HOORAY FOR THE SUPREME COURT!!!

this would probly go best in the politics forum.
but I am very happy about that. Unfortunatly many religous people don't understand that legal marriage and religous marriage are two different things

so true. actually, you can be religiously married without being legally married. just look at the mormons... (damn i hope im right on this one.)

no, i mean, the mormon practice of polygamy. although i am all for the rights of religious people(as long as they dont use them to convert me) I'm pretty sure that that is illegal.

most sects of mormonism don't practice polygamy anymore. Really you can be religously married and what not but as far as the state is conscerned your not married untill you sign the paper.

right. however, some groups do still practice polygamy. i know that because i read national geographic.

B1izzar ok. new thing... its stayed till the end of the year... D: From what I understand, it most likely will be stayed until it goes through the whole appeal process. This might take a few years. But looking on this optimistically, if this goes to the Supreme Court and they agree with the argument that it violates equal protection under the constitution, it might pave the way to legalize same sex marriage in all the states!
