is it really wrong to have one, or to try and find one? I only ask cause im looking for one or to be one, and some people tend to look down on that.

Hell no!
It sin´t wrong and neither is wanting ******** buddies. At times it seem I´m from a more open minded country, and I very well might be, but that´s not for me to judge.
Anyway, no it isn´t wrong to aknowledge the human urges and instincts. We all like pleasure, so why deny ourselfs what we want (as long as it´s not anything illegal) and try to go without. I´ve had plenty of such special friends and other such encounters of varying degree. But I´m not into self denyinng or self mutulation of my own urges and pleasures.
Sounds like the people that would look down on that are the kind that either think it´s only for reproduction or between loving partners. Which is bs, pleasure is pleasure no matter the source. Sure, better when in love but why deny it even when not.
I say good for you, go for it and good luck. May your friends not develope feelings towards you that you can´t respond in kind too.
