A small town built upon a vast expanse desert. The styles of living here are a bit different than most cities because of the harsh environment, however the technology for most parts remains the same. Here the people are always moving about, active in every corner you can find. It's also known for it's infamous Black Market as well. And because of that, pickpocketing and other annoying petty crimes are common around.

Once Marcus stopped the vehicle at the city, Mina jumped down from the gunner seat and stretched luxuriously, "Woah, I forget how hot it is without the breeze from the machine cooling me off..." she said to Marcus, "I'm going to go wander around for a bit. You'll have to get us a hotel until we meet up with Osylla, buddy, I didn't have the time to grab any cash." She laughed a little and gave the elf a friendly punch on the arm, "Anyway, I'll meet you back at this gate tonight if we don't meet up sooner. Later Marcus."

As she walked through the immense gates leading into Roughshot, Mina noticed that many of the buildings' walls were quite smooth. It'd be a challenge to scale those structures from the ground, and a challenge she would attempt eventually. The further she got into the town, the more crowded it got, and in some areas she was shoulder to shoulder with other people. It was too hot to wear her coat, but it hurt her sunburned arms when they were touched. At least I don't have anything worth pickpocketing right now, she thought, and made her way to a small area lined with stalls where people sold various miscellany. She saw a stall ran by a woman who was selling clothes, and Mina perked up, wondering if maybe she could trade her heavy jacket for a shawl, or something that would keep her sunburn from getting worse.

"'Scuse me miss, I don't have any money. Do you barter?" The response Mina got was in a language she didn't understand, and her eyes widened in disappointed surprise. She hadn't even thought that there would be a language barrier. Looking around half hoping someone would offer to translate, she continued on anyway.

"Trade? Eh? Eh?" she pointed back and forth between her own coat, and a bright red and white poncho kind of garment. Mina had a huge grin and her face and was nodding emphatically. The woman raised a concerned eyebrow at her, and sort of leaned away from the Low Gear resident. Trying to better convey what she wanted, Mina held her coat in one hand to the woman, and held the poncho in the other hand close to herself, with the same manic grin and nodding motion. Still giving her an odd look, the woman gingerly reached out and took her coat, and Mina excitedly found the head hole of the garment, and her grinning face popped out of it.

"Okay? Good? Eh?" she nodded again, and the woman nodded once slowly back. Backing away slowly to make sure they didn't think she was stealing it, Mina saw the woman start folding the jacket and put it on the table for sale. Once the lady began shouting again to attract more customers, Mina spun away happy and wearing a poncho that went down to her knees. As she was adjusting how it sat around her shoulders she found out that some loose, sleeve-like holes were built in, and after fiddling around some more, she said out loud, "Aw yeah! It has a hood!" Leaving it down for now, Mina began walking by and inspecting most of the stalls and shops she went by and talked to any owners she could understand.

[NPC's]
(simply to work with sami a bit till I get there)

A old man would happen upon the young hunter walking in her poncho and with a hood no less still looked a bit new as her poncho didn't have as much dirt and sand on it as most others did. the Old man was slightly hunched over and her had a long beard reaching the ground from him keeling over. Wearing a brown and slightly tattered at the bottom robe he'd walked up to mina with a oft and wrinkled grin and ask her a question, "...Missy...are you from around here?...are ya from the city...do yo like games. I do. I like them and I'd like to play one with you. want I could give you directions if you play with me some time." He'd look harmless enough as his brittle bones and growing frail demeanor would bequeath some type of empathy for the old mans condition. The sandy winds would pick up in his robes as he'd point to the game he intended to play, A small crowed was already drawn to this stall and he'd smile with the few teeth he'd had left and a glimpse of the game would be revealed. It would be two young men running about scaling the buildings and having a betting station in play as the goal to reach and come back towards. The men and even woman of town had a thing for the many skills they'd built in wall running and seamlessly scaling varied obstacles with there bodies and a well placed jump or step. (basically parcore).
Now the game was simple make your best bet and then see how you fair.
Yet which wasn't being told to mina was that your betting on yourself. the old man would reach out for her hand and nudge weakly towards the stand and crowd. just as the last "run" and betting session had ended.

Mina was rather surprised that someone had actually approached her that wasn't trying to sell her something. She had to lean close to the frail man to hear him clearly. She felt a little sad at first when he mentioned a game. Perhaps he had no family or friends to keep him company?

"No, mister. I'm from G.E.A.R.B.O.L.T. And sure, I have time to play some games." She was going to ask why he couldn't just give her directions now, but she stopped as she saw what activity he was suggesting. A wide smile appeared on her face, "Boooy, is this right up my alley." When she looked back at the old man, she took his offered hand in hers, keeping her fingertips facing away from his sight. Allowing herself to be led by her shuffling old tour guide to the betting station, Mina noticed that much of the betting was done with money.

"Do we have to bet anything? I'm strapped for cash, oldster." She eyed him with mock suspicion, "So, are you looking for a sure-win that you can bet on, and rake in the profits? I don't mind, my friend, but I want half of it then." Letting go of his hand, Mina began rolling her shoulders and jumping from foot to foot. Normally she could outrun and out-climb any human without a warm-up, but sitting for hours at a time in Marcus' vehicle made her muscles feel tight and unresponsive. The poncho felt weird when she moved around, so she shrugged out of it, and looked around at other potential competitors as she waited for the old man to tell her the truth.

"Ah, shrewd young thing, aren't you?" the old man replied. He proceeded to tell her about her competitors and the course they would have to take, and after assurances from Mina, he made a huge bet on her.

The young woman beat the course in record time, and lapped her opponents to their and the crowd's surprise. The old man greeted her with a hobbling, shuffling dance and gave her her share of the winnings.

The money was more than enough to get her operation back in G.E.A.R.B.O.L.T. running, so she paid a caravan to let her ride with them to her old haunts, hoping she could find someone who could remove the Desert Rat tattoo Osylla had put on her arm.

(Exit Mina. Last post.)
