1) How do you make the text all glowy in PS? I want the border to get fuzzy as it extends for x amount of pixels.
2) I've seen cool backgrounds for the text in some of the banners and what not made. How do you make the funcky shapes and styles?
3) My manips and banners lack a sense of professionalism. Do any of you have tips on the little things you do that makes it look "wow?"

1) double click the layer in the layer select, then check the "outer glow" box. That is the most simple method.
2) utilize the brush tool, if that's not what you are referring to,try inserting some art.
3) still working on that myself sweatdrop

As for #3, how about try typography? Let the text stand out and be the main focus.
This site lists some web pages that have taken the use of typography in their design and layout.

That is the most simple method. 2) utilize the brush tool, if that's not what you are referring to,try inserting some art. 3) still working on that myself sweatdrop basically what i would have said but, 3 ;; try to keep it simple. it if lacks professionalism then it drips in a childish aspect. don't use bubbly fonts unless it fits with a theme and try to utilize good colors, not too bright or too dark. i hope i helped! Instead of doing outerglow, I like to copy the text layer, gaussian blur it (have to rasterize it first), then set the blending mode to overlay or screen. Really gives it a nice glow.

Check the Rhyme

#1 was answered pretty clearly for you. xD
For #2, I think you're talking about things for which you'd need to learn about layer masking. Look up layer masking tutorials. :3
For #3, your graphics just improve and look more professional with time and experience.
