Hey, I have noticed that a lot of guilds have been making shading templates for pets that are the same just different colours for most or all stages, and I was wondering how you do them?
I have Adobe Photoshop CS, a Wacom Volito, USB Pen Tablet, and also a FREE colouring programme called GIMP, (simply because it can read programmes that Adobe can't and can save it in to files it can.)
If nessacery I can pay the person who helps me, we can agree on a price. But I would be forever in your debt if you did help me.
Thanks. -Fox.

Oooh, templates are lovely! surprised Yis yis, an Andi will help you figure it out. But Andi will not just GIVE you a fish. No no, she will point out that you already have the necessary equipment (and then some, h'ohmy. XD) and will give you the theories behind it, yes yes, and let you figure it out. Then if you still have issues, she'll start handing out fishies. rofl
(Mostly because Andi isn't a fan of Photoshop so can't give you the specifics for CS (espescially has she has CS2 so can't even pop over there to check it out. whee )) So.... xd Andi will toss a tutorial up here shortly about shading templates. (shortly meaning within the day, hopefully. xd )

I can imagine, and I also feel the same, I am finding it hard to sleep since my Fiance went back home (he lives in London and I live in Liverpool...England)
No worries or hurries though smile

ANYwho.... The theory is pretty much this.
All the shops I've coloured for I've almost always used my own shading templates, so I think I've got it down well enough to explain in words, though can use pictures if necessary. xd
Once you have the lineary you're going to use, fill it with a nice solid, basic colour. The whole thing, not just sections (I like using the websafe blue #0000ff). Then focusing on one section, start shading it as you usually would but use black on a layer set to multiply. Smudge, blue, sharpen, whatever, until you have it as you want.
I usually shade the major section first, using different layers to create different depths of shading, playing with the opacity levels. Don't eb afraid to use layers - there's nothing worse then messing up something you just spent hours working on to get exactly perfect then realise you can't do it because you've already got shading on that layer but you need to blur your new shading and can't without messing up the other.
Once you pretty much have everything exactly as you want it dhading-wise, hide all the non-shading layers and tell it to merge the visable layers. This should merge all your shading into one layer that still has all the depth and differences you had on all those seperate layers. (You'll need to makes sure it's still set to multiply for best effect.)
Now, if you want to change the colour of your shading, just lock the transparancy and go over it with a brush in the desired colour. Remember to save once you have your shading done and on one layer. Again, hate to mess it up and not be able to fix it. whee
Highlighting should work the same, only in reverse, and with a layer set to luminance or lighten or something. XD Whatever works best.
