Phury wandered through the woods. He was watching for small prey. Although he hadn't quite gotten good at the skinning part of hunting, he had managed to get Sam to teach him to capture. He hated that Lune was so sweet to him. It had been wonderful for her to take him in, but she was so.... girly. Sam was more his style. She had a mean wicked streak and she was the kind of girl you didn't screw around with. He sighed, stopping as he approached a small pond to pear into the shallows for fish. Man, too bad he was so young, he'd be chasin Sam for a ma- What was he thinking? Ugh.
His ear twitched as a fish darted just within his reach under the surface. He reached out with one paw, claws extended and snatched the fish out of the water. He headed over and flopped onto the ground in the shade of a tree and started to eat his catch.

Having slipped away from Daddy Lokni for a little adventure of her own, Harue was bounding through the tall grass with abandon, no concern for hiding herself...as difficult as that would have been with her bright coloring anyway. She was a daddy's girl around Lokni, managing to twirl the poor male around her little paw; but from time to time she had to get out on her own and see what she could find. Adventure and freedom and all that!
She'd been wandering a bit with no sign of any other life, when a splash at the nearby stream caught her attention. No signs of attempted stealth, Harue bounded over towards the river in time to see another kip emerging from the water with a fish. Blinking, she watched the other settle beneath a tree and bounced over with a grin. "That was cool! Where'd you learn to do that?"

Phury became acutely aware that somebody was approaching even before the female said anything. She was so noisy that when she did approach him he growled quietly "Are you trying to get us both killed? Who taught you to travel at night?" He stood, motioning for her to be still. He checked the perimeter of the clearing before deeming it safe and returning to his meal.
"A Female called Samhain taught me to fish." He came across a lot colder than he truly was, but it seemed to him as if this young 'giet was out to get them both eaten for somebody else's dinner.

Hesitating and flopping down on her haunches to eye the male oddly, Harue tilted her head to the side while answering, "My daddy, why?" What was he talking about? What was wrong with the way she walked? Or bounded, anyway?
Seemingly unfazed, she nodded enthusiastically, "Well, that's neat! I haven't learned to fish yet, but they're yummy. I want my daddy to teach me someday, but he says I'm not ready yet. Plus, he's still getting better, so if I wanna' learn now, I'd probably have to ask Sheelah instead, but I'd rather Daddy teach me." She nodded sagely, finishing her divergent train of thought before jumping tracks again. "So, who's Samhain? I guess she's not your mommy then? Who are your parents? Is Samhain kinda' like Sheelah? She's not my mom, not really, but she's nice and acts sorta' like one...I think," she finished, unsure.

Phury growled quietly to himself, "Because you're loud and you attract attention. You could get yourself attacked the way you make noise." He glanced around again, looking for movement in the brush.
He shook his head with her many questions and random explanations. "No, Sam is not my mother. She is a talented female who happens to be friends with the woman who took me in. She teaches me things that I need to survive if I ask her to." He nearly asked about the "...I think..." but he chose not to, afraid to start her on another tangent.

Harue pouted. What was wrong with that? She liked attention. "Well, yeah, but who would attack me? Plus, if someone came after me, Daddy would protect me. And Sheelah! They're big and strong!" She grinned, sitting up proudly as she spoke of her scary, adult protectors.
"Oh, I see. Sorta' like Sheelah. She's Daddy's friend. She helped rescue him when he got hurt by the big, scary monster. Oh, is that what you meant? Attacks by meanie monsters? 'Cause those really are bad...it took Daddy a long time to get better." She nodded sagely, tone growing more serious as she remembered how long she and Sheelah had needed to watch over her Daddy while he healed from his injuries. "Daddy usually makes me stay much closer now 'cause of it," she finished quietly, looking sad.

Phury sighed and put a paw to his forehead. "Yes, that is exactly what I am talking about 'meanie monsters' as you say, or perhaps 'giets that are not as docile as I am. I am sorry that something attacked your father, and staying close to him may be for your own good."
He sighed as she looked sad. "Look, I'm not trying to be mean or scare you, but if your father isn't next to you when you get attacked, the likelihood of him or this Sheelah protecting you when you need them is not good." He went silent for a moment and then thought, "Wait, if he keeps you so close, then what are you doing out here? alone?"
