-------------------------------------------------
Revan was third born to his family and the second and youngest son of his family. His birth was around the time the one to be called "the messiah" walked the Earth and simply performed miracles that transcended beyond the powers of even the most skilled practitioners of "unworldly" arts. In his young life, Revan was the son of Chieftain of the city of Aza`azar, a prosperous mountain fortress city that was home to more than sixteen types of humanoid beings including humans and a haven for many other "demi-humans." Revan's father, Revan Maximilianus II and his mother, Raven were proud warriors who fought only to protect and sought conquest only when it was deemed necessary. Their reputations as peace advocates were as wide spread as their reputation for being "God's of the battlefield." They were hailed for being diplomatic and their ability of handling politics.
Revan grew up on these tales and made it adamant in his young mind that he would either become the next Chieftain and be a diplomat like them or that he would fight his way into the history books with his fighting skill and prowess. However, this would mean that he would have to beat out one of two of his older siblings; Agle, the oldest son who was predicted to be the next great Chieftain of his time, and Wren, the oldest of the set of the four younglings and the one with the greatest fighting potential.
Like all members of his family, when he was old enough to take up arms, he was trained first in the art of the family weapon, the Naginata, the Japanese equivalent of a spear. His understanding of the weapon was near absolute and he progressed through his lesson at alarming speeds, however, he was not satisfied with the style and wished to pick up the skill of swords and not just the Naginata. From his father he learned and mastered fencing as well as the ways of Demi-Magic (will explain later). From his brother, he stole movements and techniques from his tonfa style to create his very own short sword style. He however, was never to able to even matching his sisters strength, agility, or grace when it came to fighting.
Around the time of his 16 year, Aza`azar was attacked by a group of invader who deeply believed that all forms of man not purely human were demons and therefore had to be exterminated. The people of the city were slaughter mercilessly, man woman, child and newborn. None were shown any form of empathy except the humans who had not "crossbred with the unholy." And many of them chose to die by the sword instead of stand aside and watch their friend perish in the raid. Revan watched Wren, Agle, and his baby sister Duve, struck down by a rain of arrows, and witnessed the horrifying death of his mother at blade point. Very few made it out of the city. Many who had were later chased down and gutted. Not too many escaped. Revan was not one of those lucky few. As he was dragged to the city, he watched as his father was burned on a cross.
The Eryien was taken to back as a living trophy and put on display and then was "punished for being ungodly spawned." Bound to a wooden stake, he was stoned by the children, beating by the men, and abused by some of the woman.
This cult, so to say, was large on celebration and had themselves grand week after the fall of Aza`azar. The people would get so drunk in merriment that even the children would lose themselves in the tastes of lust and wine. He of course, was given nothing to eat and was supposed to die of starvation. Had God not sent him a near constant rainy season, he would not have survived for the month that he had. However, the rain could only sustain him for so long. His body was nearing its breaking point and Revan knew well that death was coming near. To him it wasn't coming fast enough. The loss of his family had destroyed his spirits, and only the primal desires to live prolonged his soul to stay with him.
Then, one night, after the invaders returned from another raid on a different land, they returned to their partying ways. Reveling in their success, the whole camp became so drunk that not one was conscious enough to stand, or even see clearly. It was that night that a Succubus named Shinra crept through the camp to Revan. When he laid eyes upon her and her pale skin, he believed her to be a vampire. And she even bit him and drew blood from him. He didn't scream as her teeth punctured into his neck. He didn't shout as he felt the life giving blood spill from his veins. He simply whispered, "Thank you." For he knew that when day broke, the sun would free him from this world. Unable to stay awake, he passed out.
When he awoke, the sun was just starting to peek out over the horizon. He waited for its rays to hit him, to ignite his skin and burn away his flesh and soul, but it never came to pass, or not like he had imagined it. Looking out at the sun, he was bewildered beyond belief, that the golden rays hadn't killed him. And when he though all his pleasant thoughts of death were now all too far away. The left side of his face erupted in flames. The sudden shock and pain were so immense he was set into a state of unconsciousness.
That night when he stirred, Revan found renewed strength and used it to break free from his bonds and run. Somewhere in the dense forest, he came across the Succubus, who was waiting for him. Upon his entrance, she quickly bowed, handed him a red monocle-like piece of eye wear and a raven and disappeared without a word. Revan was at this point confused out of his mind, and in his daze, the bird began to speak to him. "Well, Revan, I guess you’re wondering why in God's name you're still alive, right? Well, to be honest, it's because you've been bitten by a Succubus and not a vampire. The difference? Oh not much, besides the fact of how one get's a meal. See, had she... committed adultery with you, she would have been feed and you probably would have died from the act. But, since she bit you instead, the affect of the transformation is much less potent. From that hideously red eye of yours, I'm going to say, she bit you somewhere high on the back of your neck on the left side.... So your left side is now Vampiric.... good thing your hearts in the wrong place." Revan didn't catch on at first, but Kere, the raven and Revan's new familiar, eventually explained it all to him, including the fact that his most of his vampiric energy just seemed to pool in his left eye for no reason, which is why Shinra, the succubus, left him the monocle, to protect it from the sun.
After the events of that night, Revan swore that he would one day return to the invader and destroy them. Leaving his word behind, he flew to the West and arrived in the Eastern World, where he studied the technologies of the Dragons and their allies, training in many of their ways for a year. It is here that he develops his first "gunblade," a large sword with a gun like accessory which he wielded like a massive rapier. With new knowledge in hand, he made his way back to the Middle East, picking up knowledge along the way.
Five Decades later, when he finally returned to the land where the Invaders lived, he found it ravaged. The buildings that were decaying, the artifacts that scattered the ground, they were clear indications that, he judged it their end to have come a little less than a month after his return. With his life's purpose denied, Revan against wondered the Earth in search of a purpose.
Centuries pass, and he becomes a prominent shadow in history. He was for many decades one of The Church’s (Present Day Catholic Church) main "Vessels of Holy Destruction," a mercenary in the name of Christ. During this time he gains and looses many friends, allies, enemies, and rivals as well as engages himself in many cultural feuds while also learning much from them. It is during this time that Revan picks up the alias of the Bird of Shadow (Shadow Bird). This name is further deepened into his soul upon his return to the Eastern Lands, where the Dragons greet him by his new name in the tongue of a race of Dragon's he was ordered to slaughter. This name was Adongalra (note there is no space. This is important in the future). Revan understood the name, and donned it as his own for humility's sake. He knew many of the things he did were wrong, but it was both his job, and he was told it was his duty as a Christian. And so he continued doing his job.
Note: It is around this time that Revan gains and trains with the weapon that was supposed to be given to his father, and his signature weapon, his Black Diamond Rapier and dragon metal sheath. Only after a century of wielding it, a man named Rajan, the son of Maxwell and the succubus who bit Revan(Shinra used the blood obtained from the bite and forbidden magic to allow her to bear a child, a feat she could not do through natural means), snuck up on Maxwell, knocked him out and stole his father's rapier.
This only lasted for a handful of decades before Adongalra slowly started to drift away from the Roman Catholic Church. They, however, were his biggest employers, so he could not simply leave without there being heavy repercussions on him. At the same time, Maxwell was beginning to see another agent, Rahzia Khendrei, a vampire who said she was of Shadow Vampire breed(again, character is not mine originally). The two became romantically evolved. The Church found out and set the two up for a fight, sending them on missions to take each other out. Maxwell ended up being the victor. However, he discover it was her, and she him in the after math. Revan had seen Rahzia as the only blessing to come to him in his lifetime. And like the monster he was, he had killed her in cold blood. The realization sent him into a fit of madness. The city that he had completed the faithful task in was brought to the ground. Eventually, all specks of his "humanity" were lost, and the body literally restricted the soul and pushed out the spirit (which went to Kere being Revan's spirit guide and the part of him that was pushed out by vampiric instincts).
Thus Adon Galra (First name-Last name. Different from Adongalra, no space) was born. Adon was literally all the vampire instincts and impulses Revan had and, until this point, had successfully suppressed. Adon was, however, in possession of Maxwell’s body, and for the first twenty three years of his existence, shared the same accursed problem that Maxwell did, his demonic left eye burned in sunlight. However, after years of killing the creed of various gods and gaining their knowledge, he found a way to counteract this issue.
Adon was neither good nor evil, though he came off as evil for lack of inhibition. If he wanted to "make-love" to someone, he would. If he wanted to kill, someone, he would if his more feral instincts either saw the kill worth the time and challenge, or the meal (it was never simply to just kill).
Adon Galra's power became vast in the 64 years of his first existence. With every title of God-status he took onto himself (within my story, there are multiple Gods such as Thors and Zeus's. They are either powerful men or creatures from other worlds entirely that normal humans cannot face. When a God dies or steps down, often times another steps into their place whether through killing the original or being placed in that position), he gained incredible powers over darkness.
However, at the end of his 64th year, his powers would prove no match for the strength of Revan's friends. Five warriors, a warrior priest of the Roman Catholic Church, a Werewolf and his Lycan brother, and a vampire and his vampire-lycan brother. The five bested Adon, at the loss of the Vampire's life, and with the help of Kere, Revan Maxwell was brought back to his senses. Revan has no recollection of those 64 years at all. However, he has been told of the horrors that he committed.
Afterward, Revan once again became a mercenary for hire; however, he spent much more of his time as a scholar, learning many new skills and techniques for both spiritual and mental enlightenment, as well as for combat prowess. It is during this time that he takes his massive "gunblade" and turns it into two smaller, easier to work with, twin short swords with gun applications which he calls his Slinger Blades (I didn't want to use the name gun blade).
At some point, he ran into a warlord by the Ky. The man emitted such an air of charisma that even Revan was blinded by it, and soon became one of his agents, his only task to protect his child, Terra Capoeira. What Maxwell did not know was that Ky was planning on using the power of light, which was granted to him by the fallen angel Lucifer, to seize control of the land. Terra was a vessel housing a sleeping spirit with the power of light. When Ky felt Revan was worthy to be let in on this plan, Maxwell left, saying he neither would neither intervene nor be part of such a plot. His feelings of the idea of using light to concur skewered what he had been fundamentally taught by the Church; where light was fundamentally good and darkness fundamentally evil.
Sometime after leaving, Revan comes across his father's diamond rapier again.
Years past and Ky's forces had grown incredibly sense Revan had left, now encompassing demons as well as men. Maxwell was finding it hard to stay out of the fight; that is until he was attacked by a much older Terra Capoeira who was under the impression Revan was still working for her father. The fight was short, as Revan simply shot her with his weapon. Realizing who it was, Maxwell felt compelled to help her. He had Kere use a healing curse on her before she died. The exact curse was that Terra's life(force) would become intertwined with Maxwell's if they were to share a kiss within roughly two months time. When Revan asked Kere of the reasoning, he simply stated (wryly) that it was the first quick fix he could think off. Maxwell brushed the subject aside, figuring that two months wasn't enough time for him to become emotionally involved in someone, at least not after his first love fiasco. He was wrong, and Terra became the human equivalent of an elf (could be killed by any means but would not die of age. The fact that Revan did not age is what resulted in her ceasing to age as well, were he not a vampire, this would not be the case and she would have aged until her body stabilized on a mature age).
Revan and Terra, along with many of Revan's friends, fought Ky. The war was fierce, but Ky's plans were halted. Revan and Terra parted ways, but eventually would back together. During their time apart, Terra had children to another man, one who she no longer loved, but Maxwell saw the kids as if they were his own. Time passed, and eventually the world had little use for a creature like Maxwell, so he settled down, finally married Terra. However, now in the modern age, he found himself constantly pestered by the troubles of Syd Reaper, the warrior priest he meet centuries ago(who has a medallion that allows him to be reborn over and over again with all his past life memories and abilities). Maxwell didn't mind too much, it kept his skills sharp, however, having stored all the gold he had gather all those years (seeing as he never really bought anything he didn't need, such as land, weapons, or food and modern day worth for a single gold coin was about a 11k a piece) there was little excitement in his life, and he was becoming depressed with a lack of purpose.
This is when a creature called Genken came to him. Genken was a being from another dimension and was an agent of the keepers of Balance. The being gave Revan the opportunity of a thousand lifetimes, to be one of his operatives, keeping balance within the world until the days of Judgment, in exchange for access to vast knowledge and constant protection for his family. Revan gladly accepted and returned to the line of "Mercenary work," though it could better be labeled as dimensional bounty hunter work.
Revan currently works for Genken and is a prominent student of his life and fighting philosophies
