In contrast to Reno, Las Vegas was all but abandoned once the Infection went public, a large amount of Undead suddenly appearing in the downtown Las Vegas area as a massive gambling tournament was in progress. Hundreds were killed and reanimated that night, with more following in their stead in the next few hours. Some mobsters and Casino bosses elected to stay in the city once the majority of the people left. The city is now largely gang territory, the undead being pushed back to the cities outter parts while the remaining Human population try to set up and defend themselves.
