I'm curious about hearing other people's thoughts as well. It's always interesting to hear other people's take on things.

I think the season is going great so far the last episode was funny especially the conversations between Neal and Peter. Like in the first episode Withdraw I enjoyed the argument Peter and Neal had in the vault while being held at gun point. Also the conversation between Neal and Peter in the beginning of the third episode Copycat Caffrey. Peter: Would you pay 4 million dollars for a painting? Neal:Pay.... Peter:Right you're the wrong person to ask.

Haha, yes I loved both those parts as well. I think Copycat Caffrey has been my favorite episode so far in the second season.
What's intriguing me is what's hidden in the music box.

Mhm, and no one I've talked with seems to have any idea what it is. They really gave us no clues to this one, or if they did they were extremely well hidden.

The music box is made up of two parts. The main part which holds the mechanics so the music will play then there's a smaller box on the lid. I think whatever the music box is hiding is in that smaller box. However Neal has the key and as far we know he doesn't know Peter and Diana have the music box, Neal isn't going to tell because he doesn't want Peter to know he's investigating Kate's death. Peter and Diana already broke the law by stealing the music box from evidence, plus they already made the effort in making sure Neal doesn't know they have it. If Neal finds out that Diana and Peter had the music box or if Peter and Diana finds out Neal has the key(or Alex had the key and gave it to Neal) or they both sides find out nearly at the same time, there are many scenarios that could happen. 1) Best case is they settle the fact they been hiding information from each other and work together. 2) Neal feels betrayed that Peter been hiding this from him and steals the music box from them.(If you could break into an Italian consulate you could break into someones home and safe) 3) Neal even though feeling betrayed by Peter relutantly agrees to work with Peter and Diana. As for what music box is hiding, if my theory is correct whatever the music box is hiding is in the smaller part what it could be is limited. My guesses are: a small key, historically valuable jewelry or a document/piece of paper with something on it. Before I post this I can't help but think that whatever is in the music box isn't there. Think back to the season finale, Alex had the music box in her possession for at least( in t.v time and this is my guess 30-60 minutes). If you had the key and music box surely you wouldn't try opening it. I don't know about you but I don't really like Alex much. She ditch Mozzie and Neal in the consulate, she's sneaky. I'm not saying she's the bad guy I'm saying can't be trusted. Also after how long of looking for the music box she gives up, yes someone put a hit on her but I don't think Alex would give after that. Plus, I don't think the hit has been removed so either the person who ordered the hit either knows/thinks she has the music box or knows/thinks she has what's in the music box... Wow this a lot of thought... redface

Yes, whatever it's hiding is certainly in the small part in the lid of the box; we've already seen the inside and there is clearly nothing there. So you're right with the idea that it has to be small. Maybe a key to open a safe/door that leads to something bigger, or just a very valuable small object. Or something else entirely.
I like the theory with Alex, but did she ever know it was a key? She never said it was, and neither did Neal. In season one, didn't Alex say that it was a piece that was broken off of the music box? Something to remind her of the mark she wanted? As far as I know, that's all she ever told Neal it was. But of course, she could have been lying to him and maybe she knew all along it was a key to the hidden compartment and gave it to Neal now because she has already used it to retrieve what ever was hidden in it. You're right; she can't be trusted. I like her, but she's a thief and even though she's worked with Neal, I don't think for a second that she would really not take what ever was hidden in the box if she knew about it. The question is; did she know that was a key?
I agree with your scenarios. Neal would probably feel betrayed that Peter was keeping information from him because Neal has always had sort of a double standard. He doesn't think it's bad to keep information from Peter, but he always seems to be hurt when Peter keeps things from him. So he's probably going to feel betrayed. But maybe their friendship is strong enough now that he trusts Peter enough to work with him. Having the pieces doesn't do anyone any good if one team has the key, one has the box and neither side wants to work together. Neal stealing it would probably only cause trouble, but I could see him stealing it if his trust in Peter isn't as strong as it seems. I'd like to think he trusts him, though. I hope so, at least.
Mhm, a lot of thought, but it was good thought. ^ ^

I glad you agree by the way who do you think was that guy that Diana and Peter we're chasing in the beginning of the second episode, the one who Fowler was suppose to meet and was holding a newspaper in front of his face.

I am totally stumped the only thing I could think of is he very good at counter surveillance he was able to avoid several cameras including the FBI's. Do you know how many cameras are in New York? You can't walk a city block without being seen by some. Where that guy was there had to be at least ten maybe more. And that picture Diana has yeah white male with dark hair that's not helpful at all. So he's either FBI or very observant criminal.

Exactly. He's good at what he does, good or bad. He's obviously had some training in stealth, a normal person would have been spotted a million times. So is he a crooked FBI agent or is he a criminal? I have no clue. Hopefully this next episode gives us some more clues. Seems like it will.

Hello! Sorry I haven't been around, I've been on vacation. I've loved reading your theories, they're all so interesting. I just finished catching up on the show a few minutes ago. At the moment, I don't quite know what to think. Obviously we've established that the piece Neal has is the key to a top compartment of the music box. (By the way, wasn't that music well done? I loved it.)
I really like Alex, and I think she genuinely cares about Neal. I don't think she would set out with the intent to anything bad, but if it was him or her... I don't trust her either. I do think eventually she will prove herself trustworthy (maybe it's a wish, whatever).
My sister believes the man in the picture might be Neal. I thought it was an interesting theory (and promised her I would share it with my guild), however, at this point, I don't think she's right. She wants me to ask you all if you know if Matt Bomer can sing. She would LOVE to hear him sing on the show, she's decided it would be the best thing since chocolate.
