The Elemental Guardians

“Look around you. What do you see? Laughing? Absence of weapons? Peace? Freedom? All these things are given to you because of those who died for them. They are there because the hand of fate isn’t there. Has something unexplainable ever happened to the wind? A flame? A blade of grass? Some water? The earth? These events occur only because of the intentions of elementals. Elementals are more powerful than gods, if you will. They can change the earth itself without trying. Few exist still today. The elementals are the same that gave their life for you. For your freedom. These are their stories.”

The creature slowly crawls across the ground, calm and intent on hearing the conversation. Nearby two young boys sat as friends on a log, talking. The boy on the right was twelve-year old Blitz; his short brown hair flowed in the wind and uncovered his golden eyes. His wise-looking face. He adjusted his brown sweatshirt and sighed.
“Windy day today, huh Dimitri?” The other boy grunted. Blitz rolled his eyes.
“Are fighting magazines all you read? You should read real books.” Blitz remarked.
“These are real books if you want to live. They teach you survival skills.” Dimitri looked around. His short black hair didn’t move. His dark blue eyes looked harsh and ready to kill anything that he sees. Like a tiger on the hunt. He’s sea blue eyes always looked intent.
“Survival skills my butt. In 4270, survival is not needed. In these years, we have B.H.E.E.S, P.U.F.J.A.E, and guards. There’s nothing to worry about.” The other boy stayed silent. A bell nearby rang. The boys yearned to go to that school even though they don’t know what they taught there. They just didn’t want to be alone. They had only the orphanage, but that wasn’t much, the other kids. They were picked up in a few seconds. These two were consistently ignored because of their glowing eyes and creepy smiles.
“Survival skills are always needed, no matter where you are.”
“That’s bullshit, and you know it.”
“Humph.”
“I always win”
“Bull”
“I bet you a kid will be hit by lightning in a few seconds after I make the bet.”
“You’re on. 20 bucks.” Few seconds later, Blitz threw a rock that hit someone and caused a domino effect to make someone trip and bump into the fence. He burned to a crisp. The burnt smell slowly but suddenly came to the noses of the pair of boys. Dimitri frowned.
“Cheater.” He grunted through clenched teeth. Blitz smiled and held his hand out. Dimitri took his wallet out, looked inside, and threw the wallet at him. Blitz opened it and saw only 16 dollars. “I’m selling the wallet. You have too many anyway. And you owe me.”
“Meh.” He grunted. The wind kicked up, blowing the fight magazine out of his hands and into the fence, setting it on fire. “Maybe we should go.” Blitz decided before Dimitri killed someone. The two boys headed to the orphanage. The creature in the dark smiled as the boys walked away.
“Let’s hope this is entertaining.” He said. His red eyes glowed. He grinned. And laughed.
9 years later, a person wakes up. He looks around. His glowing eyes haven’t changed since then. He raised his hand to his head, confused. “What happened? Where did we go wrong?” He said.
“Sir! She’s back!” a shout came from outside.
“That’s it! I’m sick of her!” He yelled. He grabbed a blue barbed blade and ran outside. A floating woman showed up before them, floating weapons around her.
“Tch, tch, tch. I though this was “an elite force”. Or was I wrong?” tons of bodies littered the floor. There was blood everywhere.
“Stop it Kaia! You have no need to kill these people! If you want to kill someone, kill me! I have nothing left anyway.” He muttered the last sentence.
“Now why would I do that? We need you for the guardian meeting. You’ve stopped showing up! Besides, you started the problem with him anyway.”
“I’m not going! You don’t need me!”
“Do I have to remind you? There are nine guardians, Time, Shedja, Space, Sinto, War, Me, Peace, Phantom F, Death, Dimitri, Life, You, Light, Ra, Darkness, Din, and Destiny, who has no name. We need at least seven to keep the world balanced, and Dimitri has turned, and Ra has disappeared, so we need you to come, or else the fabric of time is broken. Understood?” Kaia angrily looked at Blitz. He ground his teeth.
“Understood.” He said. “I…I’ll come soon. Let me get ready.” He walked in his tent, and looked around. He saw a glint, and picked up the golden pocket watch. He got shocked with a thousand volts suddenly, then turned around and pointed at her. “Be patient. Shocks won’t hurt me anyway. I have lightning.” He suddenly passed out, thinking: when did I find out I was an elemental? A memory flashed before his eyes. It was 4270, and he was heading home. “Well what are we going to do?” Dimitri remarked.
“What do you man by that?” Blitz frowned.
“You! That guy is adopting you!”
“Sorry. It’s my only chance out of this dump.”
“Refuse it! What about me! I won’t see you anymore.” Blitz frowned and put his head down. “I can’t do anything. The paperwork was already filled out! It won’t change.” He thought for a bit, closing his eyes. “Here, this will help us communicate.” Blitz handed him a crystal. “I stole it from the teachers. We can talk through our minds to each other with this. Mines in my pocket watch. We can also send…Memories.”
With a jolt, blitz opened his, looking around. Not a moment had passed. “What’s…’ he suddenly realized what was happening. “Dimitri…he is near!”
