Rayl, The Knight of Vale

(Above was drawn by Kiedera on 10/20/10.)
Concept art of Rayl's New (and incredibly awesome) Armor ( Helmet and Chainmail not included!):
(Drawn by myself a month or so back...I should date my art and be cool...or something.)

Age: 17
Height: 5’ 11'' and growing. (huzzah for growth spurts!)
Weight: 170 (not including that newly found armor of his.)
Element: Venus (Earth)
Class: Squire → Knight → White Knight → Paladin → Holy Knight (assuming usage of only earth djinn.) [currently in his Guardian Class Tree, see the potential class trees below for which one it is and the psynergy list.]
Alignment: Lawful Good
personality summary: Despite his (somewhat) tough appearance, Rayl is…well…sort of a bookworm…but he gets outside so it’s not too much that way. He prefers to read fiction about the knights of yore than actually talk to people ( he wasn’t always like this, see bio)…basically, he has learned to keep to himself ( I’m sure you’ll see why in reading the narrative biography). When talks of his getting a girlfriend/getting married arise from his parents ( well mother), it sends him up the nearest frozen tree in a panic attack ( hardly befitting of his ideals of being some brave, romantic, and courageous knight of olden times). But there are good things of him too. The fact that he always thought of himself as a knight of the new era has been a confidence boost, and helps spurs him to action in times of danger, willingly ( and foolishly) throwing himself in harm’s way in the protection of others…Knight’s honor and all that you could suppose. In recent times he's had serious spats of Pessimism and a general bitterness towards people...blame Mirian on this one.
Yet quite unlike his pseudo-knightly ideals, he doesn’t seem to act upon being bullied, taking a passive role rather than finding a way to solve it ( lest they do something that irks him…in which case…)
other notes: Constantly playing with his one and only friend in Imil, his Earth Djinn Dust, Rayl has learned to move fast and hit hard, but at the cost of not focusing on his studies, tragically leading to a reduced, near abysmal Magical Psynergy skill ( but physically stimulating Psynergy is alright by him.). Constant playing of games where he (imagines himself as a) is a knight have gotten him used to wearing heavier suits of armor, and a boosted endurance and defense. He has some (terribly minor) healing skills, from forced learning from his mother, and has some status abilities, mostly learned through playing with “Dusty”…not entirely skilled with them otherwise. He also finds it hard to focus on multiple enemies ( the whole Knight’s noble one on one duels, jousting and what have you.) but that’s something that can be overcome ( essentially he has average speed, high strength, high defense, high health, but a terrible amount of PP and uses primarily Physical Attack Psynergy, has some healing and status psynergy, probably few magical attack psynergy, and has some utility psynergy that’s expected from being of Venus element.)
Bio abstract:
Born from Marla and Rowen Torien in Vale, his father worked as a Steam Technician and Smithy. It was this that lead to his family moving to Imil: to work on the steam vents across the area to help bring heat to the denizens. Before this, Rayl had some friends in Vale, where they’d constantly pretend to be knights, fighting with sticks and the sort: this was the basis of his mentality, really. But these simple times of childhood bliss and friendship ended in a rather confusing disaster. After being separated from his friends (except for Dusty of course) led to him being rather nervous around the others of his age at Imil, upon moving their at fifteen, that and being ostracized for being foreign tends to do WONDERS for one’s self esteem (he’s known as that teeth chattering guy who stutters…it’s not his fault he hasn’t gotten used to the cold!), and instead he read books about knights of yore rather than be out in public…Whilst his Mother constantly nagged him for slacking off on practice with Psynergy ( He wasn’t too much of a fan of fixing his roof…he could of sworn she was putting holes in it just to have an excuse for him to work…) and other important life thing. Other than that, he still plays with Dusty and is eager to one day set out and become known as some sort of Knight in Shining Armor…once he gets the courage to actually leave the town behind, that is…
Narrative Bio:
(warning, this is pretty long, kinda confusing, and if needed, just read the short abstract bio for the jist of things...unless you'd like further insight on Rayl's personality.)

I was…six then, I think, when my Grandfather came over. I always liked it when grandfather came over. When I heard him give the secret knock, consisting of three normal knocks, followed by a sort knuckle roll against the door, I’d rush over, swing it open, and jump into an awaiting embrace...out of all his grandchildren ( from his other children; I’m an only child), I was his favorite…probably because we both had a wild (though that’s just others being jealous) imagination. He’d often bring me a gift, usually something that got my imagination going even BEFORE I received it: a box which he said contained a magical spirit ( this was Dust…we’ve been best friends ever since), a picture book full of stories about knights of old…Grandpa always said that back when he was a child, he’d watch them atop their white steeds, saving damsels and fighting dragons…I know now that he was just stimulating my imagination, but it was always great to hear these stories…but on this particular day, after our ceremonial greeting, he took a fairly large, lengthy box which he had strapped to his back, and set it down on the table.
indent”I’ve been thinking" he began, running a hand through his thick, bushy, white beard while he sat me on his knee. Mother was cooking a nice stew, humming to herself. She wasn’t a fan of Grandpa’s storytelling, saying It was going to make me immature and not ready for the modern world or something like that, I don’t know…Anyways, he slowly untied the ribbon he’d wrapped around the box, all the while still speaking,” You’re becoming a big, strong man now, Rayl, and have been a faithful squire to me for quite some time...” Grandpa was a fan of staying in character…it’s probably why he was such a good author: being able to get into character like that,”And a faithful squire deserves recognition. It is such that I hereby decree unto you this!” mother came out of the kitchen, wondering what grandfather was up to. Dad, this whole time, was busy working on the clock we had in the town square and wouldn’t be back for another thirty minutes or so…but he would have been laughing when he saw how my face lit up as Grandpa took the lid from the box…
indent For there, in all it’s magnificent glory: Laying inside the box, atop another story book ( which he had written itself it seems…I still carry it with me today): A sword he had made; carved from a strong hickory branch. It looked pretty hefty to, much like the bats the my friend Francis and I would use when playing ball when we got older. I reached out to grab it by the hilt to go outside with Dusty ( who sat faithfully on my shoulder…he was pretty tiny then, and grew up as I did.) and fight off those darn rats that every now and then went after our food stores in the cellar out back…but Grandpa put an old, withered hand on top of mine to stop me,”Remember, young squire, a knight only uses his blade to deal judgment and justice to the wicked, and only uses the shield…” he paused, and with this unstrapped a large rounded piece of wood from his back, strapping it to my own…I must have looked pretty amusing, because even my mother laughed at the sight of her small boy looking like he was strapped to the end of the world’s largest wooden dinner plate,”To protect the innocent and the weak…now go on outside, and have fun!” he broke out of character to dismiss me to the play with which only a child could partake…he needn’t say it, for he knew I had been ready to bolt out the door, and boy did I…sigh…I remember it like it was yesterday…it’s kind of sad when you look upon your life as a five year old and enjoy it more than what’s going on now…
indentAnyways, some time passed, and I was now fourteen, when I had been working on that darn roof again…really, how many times do I have to fix it? It’s as if Mother puts holes in it just to make me use my gift to work…Psynergy it’s called…why would I need to make a hand of mental energy to move something when I could use a blade that can smite evil? While working I heard mother and father arguing…they seemed to do that quite a lot nowadays. Peeking into one of the (sadly still) non-patched holes ( I don’t really work too fast…unless it’s on the practice dummies I made, in which case I make short work of them, ha ha!). They were in the kitchen: Their usual arguing spot. I was directly above them, undetected, and my curiosity led me to lay my head against the roof in order to listen better to what they were saying…
indent ”But he’s just a young boy! Seriously Marla, you plan too far ahead for the boy! You have writing in fancy lettering and have him run about doing chores! And now you’re talking about arranging a marriage?!” I lifted my head up for a moment in confusion. Marriage? I wasn’t entirely sure what to make of the conversation, so I went back to listening.
indent ”Well SOMEONE has to think about his future! Your dad always came around here, messing with his mind, when he should have been teaching him mathematics! With the way things are going, you’re going to make him into a…a… Garbage Burner! And who would want to marry one of them?!” she turned around, flustered, as she placed her hands on the stove, using psynergy to start it up.
indent ”Oh come on! Rayl’s just being your average young man! They’re supposed to have fun! Besides, I never went to school or learned any of that fancy alchemy at some private school like you did, and look what’s happened to us! We live well, have great neighbors, have a smart boy whole grow up to be just like his old man!” Father began laughing, but even from the angle he was at, I could see the nervousness in his eyes.
indent” I don’t care what you think, I’m going to start raising that boy of yours up right! Tomorrow I’m going to start talking to Ms. Winters about arranging a marriage between her daughter, that sweet Nancy an-“ I’d figured out where this argument was going: Nowhere. But it was about me…sort of, and I wanted to know as much as I possibly could…perhaps my eagerness got the best of me and I pressed my hand against part of the weakened roof and...
indent…Fell right into the kitchen. Mom shrieked and rushed over, and began bombarding me with questions on if I was injured, despite my constant replies of “No. Nope. I’m fine. or my personal favorite, No really, I’m alright.”. Dad remainly oddly silent the entire time, without a single joke like he usually pulls off. After I was on my feet, I bolted straight out the door, Dust head on my heels, as we dashed up the ladder like madmen and began working on the roof twice as quickly, pretending like I didn’t hear anything ( lord knows I didn’t want to get in trouble with mother.)…but I have a feeling dad heard me. At one point their argument, I had seen him look up at the hole I was peeking through…
indent …about an hour later I was out with Dusty, when Francis and Heather Winters came over to play. Francis was born to a poor family who lived near us in Vale. Heather and her family were from the Far East…I believe from the place called Takaou, and we had become fast friends. Francis was a year older than I was, he was a Mars adept while I was, apparently, a Venus Adept ( not too sure what that means, something about the earth I guess, according to Dust.). But I can tell you this: he had a LOT more free time for play than I did. When I had to go far into town on errands, or was doing some other chore, you could always count on him being there, chatting with me while he helped me with my chores so we could play more...truly we were a fearless team; a dynamic duo…We were two knights on a holy crusade to rid the world of evil. He’d been there before where I heard the…you know, but had rushed off to get Heather (in hindsight, it would have been better if he had heard the news there instead of what happened), seeing as we WERE just about done…they had arrived late back because Heather liked to get dressed up and all ( she’s like grandpa was: great at getting into character) so he had to wait outside with her butler until she was ready.
indentYou see, Heather was…is from a wealthy family, and their parents are good friends with my parents( we aren’t as well off…I’d say upper middle class, when combining mom and dad’s work…mostly mom’s.)…but I digress. Heather, unlike Francis, was kind of quiet and always polite and formal when we first met, but that soon changed (how could you stay quiet and formal around Francis and I? We were always loud and obnoxious!) …they were complete opposites, but got along great…opposites attract I guess. When we met, it was sort of an awkward ‘hello’ to one another, before going off to play with her many friends (she became one of those popular people…but Francis and I were here favorite friends)…I went back home into my room and read a book. But we saw each other more, and as we got older and learned to use psynergy…well we got to have a lot more fun. We had this obstacle course we’d made over time which…I learned most of my psynergy there than anything. In our games Heather was always, to her approval, the princess. Sure she was kinda vain, but she was always nice to us. I knew Francis had a crush on her, which was sorta the reason I was nervous around Heather that day, and I was sure she noticed…she had given me this confused glance when she said hello and I was stuttering like a man possessed.( this became a terrible habit around girls…I’m always worried Mom will turn these potential friends into potential wives…it worries me…a lot…and all the guys will go from potential friends to potential enemies…I worry a lot, but again: I digress.)
indent When we were at the obstacle course, I remember I’d gotten stuck and fell off...well stuck isn’t the right word. You see, myself and Francis were racing to see who could get to Heather first, who had just floated to the top of the fort we made up top (she was the best at psynergy, hands down.), and well…I know Francis and I always get competitive (for different reasons) to see who could get up…but it was kind of awkward considering what I knew and what he didn’t, so I decided to throw the game. I was jumping from one pedestal to the next halfway through, and during one of my jumps, I moved a pedestal aside, and sent myself into the dust…apologizing to my friend as he crawled out from under me and the ( now larger) Djinn sat on my chest, I watched as Mother left the house and headed off down the trail…which lead to Heather’s house…boy was I worried, especially for what could possibly happen. Then I noticed a pair of hands outstretched to help me up. I was kinda dizzy so it looked like eight hands, but I extended mine, and they were clasped by the friendly, and unsuspecting hands of my two best friends. We went on the rest of the day playing Knights of the Round Table. Heather was (again) the Princess, and usually I’m the Good Knight and Francis was the Infamous Black Knight (he liked to play the powerful villain, and I obviously liked to play the role of the hero), but I decided to switch spots (again to their confusion and suspicion). You see, usually I win these fake duels due to what I learned from grandpa, but today I was feeling lousy so I threw this game also, and lay on the ground pretending to be dead, watching from one eye as Francis and Heather were laughing and pretending to be married or something and ride off into the sunset…then they stopped some distance away and began whispering to each other, looking back at me every now and then.
indent I raised my head from the ground, confused in all honesty, before I got to my feet as they approached…only to get slapped across the face by a rather flustered Heather:
indent”What’s wrong with you today?! You’re usually so energetic!”
indent”Yeah buddy, what’s gotcha down?”
indent I bit my lip and said nothing, instead I got up and took off running. I was sort of hoping They followed, but I’m also glad that they didn’t. I kept running across town for some time, ignoring people waving and saying hello, and went up to the top of the town ( ironically this was near Heather’s house, with a nice view of the waterfall), I sat besides the upper part of the river for some time, just sort of thinking and all…I forget how long I was sitting there, when a hand was placed on my shoulder…I tell you I nearly fell into the river and down the waterfall.
indentIt was Heather…and from the nervous look on her face, she apparently figured out why I was so worried ( she must have gone back to her house after I dashed off like that…odd how I didn’t notice her). She didn’t say anything, but just sat down next to me, feet in the cool water. I’m not sure how long we sat there or why ( I honestly like to think of it as silent mourning of our past friendship...but hey, I like to romanticize things sometimes.), but I do remember when that INCREDIBLY awkward silence ended…Francis was behind us at some point; fuming. He’d told me his thoughts about Heather, and I told him they would be great together…well I actually said the opposite in a joke which we laughed about, but he knew what I meant.
indent But maybe he thought I had been serious that day, mostly from how he shouted some obscenities along with how I was a ‘no good, double crossing Armored Rat’ before dashing off. Well, let’s just say after that day he never really followed me around when I did my chores, and in large part made new friends whereas I was just stuck with Dust and Heather…actually just Dust, Heather and I never really talked after that, it was more of this awkwardness where she’d say ‘hi’ and I’d say nothing, or I’d say ‘hi’ and SHE’D say nothing…I’m telling you, my mother’s plotting ruined my relationship with my dearest friends.
indent… After that, I stayed inside more, didn’t see Francis, didn’t see Heather…No, I instead saw Sir Dahl the third slay the vile dragon Aerious and then disappear into the woods, never to be seen again. I stayed inside for most of my free time, reading the books grandpa had written to amuse me, of knight's of the olden days and their valiant rescues, of their crusades...of their friends uniting to save the world. Mother thought I was studying so left me very much alone. Dad didn’t say much, he didn’t really nowadays…I guess he was sort of depressed that I was depressed…or that he couldn’t have prevented this whole thing from happening because he was too tired and too busy working to be around as much.
indentI guess you could say I was happy when Dad got this job up in Imil, apparently working on these steam vents…this was a year after the whole ‘arrangement engagement’ fiasco, and last year to be precise. I could get a breath of fresh air, especially get away from the group that Francis hung around with, with their incessant mockery and bullying. I despite this I still considered him a friend, and tried on multiple occasions to tell him what happened…only to get a punch to the gut, or worse: a fireball to the face. Heather and I began talking more, and she was always there to help me back up when I was knocked down, or help wipe the soot from my face from the above situation…but we weren’t really the same, friendship-wise, that is. I’d almost given up on Francis though. It had been this one day which I’d been practicing on my dummies in the backyard when Francis and his group showed up. I was used to these encounters by now, but when one of Francis’ buddies ( no doubted their gang leader) tried to light my ‘sword’ on fire…you know, the one Grandpa made for me…well, Dust and I sorta hit him across the face with it.
indentWhen I regained consciousness later in the afternoon I was laying at the side of the river in only my underwear (alright fine, that wasn't my BEST idea), but I wasn’t really too worried: the sword was left intact and unharmed…later on I decided to think this was Francis' doing: We both had a lot of good memories involving sword fighting after all.
indent When it was time for us to leave, we had all out belongings packed on the train, and I was sorta regretting leaving…I wouldn’t see either of them again, not like it mattered but…memories don’t fade away too easily…neither do bruises or black eyes. The only good thing about this whole mess was that my whole arranged marriage with Heather was deemed ‘invalid’, an odd word to use at best, and those last five days before I would leave we patched up our friendship, talking and laughing like the old days…but we’d stop every now and then and look to the side expecting the usual witty comment from Francis…there was none…
indent At the train station, with my belongings ( my wooden sword and shield from grandpa, the books, some clothes…I may have been from a middle class family, but I didn’t actually have much…I saved my allowance…I’d been trying to buy a sword from the smithy but I was underage.), I saw something rather…extraordinary. As Heather was waving goodbye, I saw Francis’ Gang Leader and his cronies laughing, swearing, and shouting ‘good riddance’ but in the shadows, near Heather, I saw Francis give a small, sad, wave…it was probably the most emotional wave goodbye that someone had ever given in the history of waves since the invention of the wave (by knights I bet...probably some secret code to enter a holy temple!).
indent Well, the train traveled for some time and sat and read, nothing too big a deal, and then we arrived at Imil…remember when I told you how I was hoping to make new friends and start life anew? Well, it didn’t work out that way at all. Upon departing the train and into the frosty, cold air, teeth chattering and the sort ( hey I only experienced snow for three months out of twelve!), the kids around my age found it amusing (and there was also the foreign factor I guess) and…well, out of one rat hole, and into another. I spend most of my time nowadays in the house, reading and…dare I say it, working on the roof ( Mother’s…their old habits die hard…). I tell you, I’m ready to just get up and leave, get myself a sword and make my way as a wandering knight, fighting evil ( if there is any) and bring peace to the land ( even though it seems to already be at peace…). I often like to visit that tower they built some long time ago, or so I heard from one of my peers…before he froze my feet in place and walked away ( not a fun week after catching a cold.). I don’t know why, but it’s soothing…you know? Going and as deep as I can, curling up with a good book…Dust seems to not like the cold but he’s getting used to it and al-
indent…sorry, that’s even more digressions. Basically, things here in Imil could be going a lot better…I miss Vale…
Relationships
Rowen Torien: Father. They are on a good side with one another, always joking and having fun.
Marla Torien: Mother. Loves her, but despises her antics to take control of her life.
Rayl's Grandfather: A Now deceased man who inspired Rayl's whole life and mannerisms. Made him a wood sword ( now broken) and a wooden shield.
Heather Winters: Childhood friend. his mother set them up in an arranged marriage, thus ruining their friendship between each other and their friend Francis. Was able to patch their friendship up once they were moving to Imil. (arranged marriage no longer in process.)
Francis: Rayl's Best friend; they are like brothers. This was ruined when Rayl's mother set up an arranged marriage between him and Heather (who Francis loved) and ruined their friendship forever. Francis joined a gang of sorts afterwards, having them harass Rayl frequently before he left for Imil. Whether or not their friendship was repaired is unknown.
Maewen: Doesn't know her directly, but knows that she is the daughter of the lady who treats his minor bruises after an encounter with Bunch and his cronies. It' stoo minor to bother going to the lighthouse, but more than his terrible skills can cure. Has shared a sort of friendship with her, and is already willing to get hurt to protect her.
Maewen's Mother: Likes her more than his mom, that much is certain. Dad constantly makes jokes due to how often he is seen leaving the house ( oddly whenever Maewen isn't around to see it.)...not it's NOT like that!
Butch: bully who constantly harasses him. Rayl doesn't fight back on the basis that Butch isn't evil: Just misunderstood, thus does not deserve the sword of justice.
Mael: some crazed guy who wants to experiment on people...but he helped that injured guy, so he isn't TOO bad...AN EVIL SOB.
Saito: That one injured guy they helped, now fighting alongside them. A good man, albeit quiet.
Zet: A brother-in-arms whom he's willing to die to protect.
Chika: A fellow adept from Vale. Rayl had seen her running around for some time, and hardly knows exactly why she's in Imil now, but it HARDLY important as of this precise moment.
Chiyo: Knows next to nothing of Chika's sister.
Drake: Officially Rayl's sworn enemy. Even more so.
Gale: WHY ARE THERE SO MANY WOMEN HERE?!?!?!?!!
Mirian: You know, he was just starting to like her, and then he was hating her, and now he's liking her views again...

Broken Sword (The sword made for him in Imil was broken after an incident with stairs) +1 Attack.
Ancient Psynergy Armor ( Armor from ancient times, no doubt from Lemuria. +40 Defense, -10 Agility, Increases PP by 3. Equipped.) (Normal Psynergy Armor should be noted to give +21 Armor with giving Seven PP, but I decided to increase it's defense rating at the cost of it Psynergy giving abilities and some agility as a trade-off.)
Ancient Plate Boots (+ 20 Defense -5 Agility. Equipped.)
Ancient Plate Gloves ( + 20 Defense -5 Agility. Equipped.)
Wooden Shield ( Made by his Grandfather. +2 Defense. At home.)
* Clay Shield ( One Time use. + 10 Defense.) * Made with Psynergy, non permanent.
note: Prefers using Long swords over anything else, though can use other weapons as well. Has access to Unique lance type weapons (To quote Sain from Fire Emblem: The Lance is more of a knightly weapon, don't you think?). Uses shields as weapons as well as defense. He can also use a short sword or dagger in his off hand rather than a shield, though this means he cannot use some psynergy, namely his stronger hitting attacks. The axes he will usually use are Two handed, thus restricting his psynergy options the same way dual wielding would. Cannot use staves or ankhs.
This is all at the cost of the fact that this is a more modern day world...with trains...and cannons...and maybe some guns...

Benefits: With just The Venus Tree, he is a straight forward attacker and general Tank ( if we be using MMO terms.). He is well rounded with his stats and has more healing skills that are capable of healing himself. He also has more possible psynergy types than his other classes: Healing, Defensive, Support, and Utility, letting him fit minor roles outside his offense based status.
Faults: He is on the slower side in this tree when not using Summon War Horse in battle or using the Comet psynergy tree, which even then are tiresome in PP and damaging, respectively. He also is less capable at protecting others with his psynergy, and has to rely on his own defense and health when taking blows for others. Other than that it's his most well rounded class.
Current and Future Psynergy (Earth/Water Duo: Guardian Class Tree) [has been acquired in roleplay but not used]:
Cutting Edge 5 1 (Swings your weapon to launch a sonic slash of water towards your foe.)
Plume Edge 15 1 (An upwards swing that causes a geyser to erupt beneath the foe.)

Benefits: When in the Guardian Class Tree, Rayl is considerably faster due to the fluid grace of Mercury. He is granted more skills to aid his comrades and more potent healing skills. He can also increase his defense or his allies' defenses, or form a barrier to shield them from harm. The considerable increase of psynergy is very much appreciated.
Faults: In The Guardian Class Tree, Rayl has less offensive potential, and the stronger healing skills that he DOES get cannot be used on himself. He serves more as a defensive wall than damaging tank.

Move 2 ┄ (use mental willpower to move objects)
Retreat 6 ┄ ( Escape from a dungeon or enclosed space, and return to the entrance you used)
Benefits: The Loner Class Tree sees a large improvement in Rayl's speed, allowing him to strike much quicker with the speed granted by Jupiter. He also is granted multiple new attack psynergies and ways of increasing his attack and speed. He also has more psynergy for attacking multiple foes. The added psynergy also helps to keep him from falling to exhaustion.
Faults: The Loner Class Tree, as it's name implies, serves only Rayl in his attacking, he cannot increase the abilities of his teammates. He also loses a consider amount of defense and psynergy resistance by using this class tree, making him more of an offensive lesser tank than his typical offensive wall. He also starts with LESS attack than most of his possible classes, but can increase it, but will still be surpassed by the Knight Class Tree.
Current and Future Psynergy (Earth/Fire Duo: Mercenary Class Tree) [has not been acquired in roleplay nor has it been used]:
Molten Shield 7 Self (Creates a shield of fire that adds to the user's attack, not defense. Meant to be used in an offensive strike.)

Fire Sword 9 Self (Envelops weapon in fire to increase attack.)
Flare Dive 14 1 ( charges the foe while surrounded by flame. Does some damage to the user. Molten Shield must be used prior to avoid taking damage.)
Armor Piercer 13 1 (A Hard hitting smash against the foe reduces their defense.)
Summon Warhorse (Non Acquired; Obtained at White Knight and is a combat variant of Summon Steed. Kept regardless of class.) 20 at start and 15 per hour Self (Summons a horse encased in Metal armor for Increased speed and Strength in Battle. Best not used Out of Battle due to the wear on the caster.)
Move 2 ┄ (use mental willpower to move objects)
Retreat 6 ┄ ( Escape from a dungeon or enclosed space, and return to the entrance you used)

Kept regardless of class.) 20 at start and 15 per hour Self (Summons a horse encased in Metal armor for Increased speed and Strength in Battle. Best not used Out of Battle due to the wear on the caster.)
Move 2 ┄ (use mental willpower to move objects)
Retreat 6 ┄ ( Escape from a dungeon or enclosed space, and return to the entrance you used)
Benefits: The Mercenary Class Tree extends Rayl's combat skills to a higher level. He is granted even more physical psynergy skills than before, along with some hard hitting distance psynergy. He also has some moves to help lower the enemy's defensive capabilities. the added defense and stamina isn't too bad either.
Faults: If you thought The Loner Class Tree wasn't beneficial to the team, then The Black Knight Class is even worse. With many of his fire based psynergy, he has the potential to unintentionally harm his teammates when striking the enemy. He also has a decrease in speed, making him more of an offensive wall than The Knight Class, at the considerable loss of speed. He also has even LESS psynergy than when in the White Knight Class tree. He also cannot use Summon Steed, and would have to rely on Warhorse should he need to move faster outside of battle, thus draining his psynergy.
