If you are an academy student you have to wait a few days to a week and take the genin test.
Genins who want to go up in rank may ask the moderators and the genin will fight against another genin. It doesn't matter who wins since the one who RP's better will move up in rank.
Chunins need to be reccomended by jounins or any otther higher rank and will be tested as well in a fight
Jounins who have had a team of genin which at least 2 graduated into chunin will be tested in a fight against an S-rank. From there they choose to be ANBU or Aoitsuki. Sanin rank will be chosen by the Kage.
