So im geting ready to go back to school. And i was hoping i was going to get a bento. But sadly i have other big things i want/need other than the bento. and i dont have that much money for a nice bento. So this monday i have to go to the DMV and get a ID ID=$32 And then i have to go acrost town to inksmith and rodgers tattoo shop. (It acrost town and that means ill have to buy more gas) and get my tongue pierced. Pierced= $45+ $10 tip. (which is worth it but alot of money) Then i have to go all the way to wallmart and get Gatorade Lots of water Crystal light water packets (I have to go on a liquid diet for about 2 or 3 weeks) But anyway back the point Im not going to have enough money for a bento. So dose anyone think that haveing some small contanters would work to? Or would it just be weird? Btw sorry about the rant. Im just mad at myself >.<

Small containers work fine. That is what I started doing, until I go a Fit'N'Fresh box. It still costs, but it is less than a bento.

Agreed. Honestly, any tupperware can be substituted for a bento box b/c its ultimately the same thing... just less cute sweatdrop

Like others have mentioned, tupperware is an excellent substitute. Bento is about a style of packing, not having the "right" kind of box.
That said, I've found very pretty boxes on J-Box for about $4. They're solid colors, but you could easily dress them up with a pretty strap or even rhinestones, stickers, etc. as long as you're careful about cleaning it.

Munkers Like others have mentioned, tupperware is an excellent substitute. Bento is about a style of packing, not having the "right" kind of box. And even if you can't find one they're easy enough to make. I made my own strap and bag for one of my bentos which cost me $16 for a Kiki's Delivery Service bento box and it's three tiers. So they don't have to be expensive. Also, I've seen tupperware do it's own version of a bento. So you have some options!
