=====================================
"Could you hurry it up?!" Black yelled behind him.
"But I'm soooo tired!" White groaned, her feet dragging across the dirt road.
"We wouldn't have had this problem if you didn't stay up all night playing around with your Pokemon!" Black scolded her.
"They wanted to play! And they're sooo cute...I just couldn't help it!" White declared.
"'Til five in the morning?! Yeah, I don't think so. ...I'm gonna leave you behind."
"Aw, c'mon! Don't be like that, Black! (Hey, that almost rhymed...)" White said, the last part quieter.
"Hey, whose fault is it, huh? I want to get to the next city before nightfall, and so far, we've only made a fourth of the progress we should have made by now!"
"At least we're getting there. Slowly but surely..." White yawned.
Black scoffed. "Fine. We'll take a small break. But I won't be responsible if a Banette decides to carry you off!"
"Aw, y'know Ghost Pokemon don't come out 'til nightfall," White said, collapsing by the side of the road on her butt, yawning and stretching.
"I don't believe you," Black muttered, shaking his head and taking a spot next to her.
He pouted while she gazed off at the sky.
"...Well?! Aren't you going to catch up on your--"
Before Black could finish his sentence, White closed her eyes and was asleep.
"You must be kidding me... She can still sit up straight and snore like that?" Black said to himself, in disbelief. White was either talented or just that much of a doofus.
He continued to pout, thinking over in his mind how much farther they could've gone by now. He really didn't want to go into the night. His innate fear of Dark Pokemon was starting to get to him, even though it was only getting towards late afternoon. He checked his watch again, sighed, and went to staring at the clouds.
Suddenly, a weight fell against his left shoulder.
"W-what the--?" he said, flinching at the sudden contact.
Her body had fallen against his shoulder, and her head was now placed on his shoulder.
"H-hey...! What're you doing?!" he yelled at her. Her unresponsiveness proved to him she was still asleep.
He sighed. She wasn't that heavy--he could push her off easily. After a few awkward moments, he had had enough.
"Okay, enough already! Wake up!" he shouted, jerking his shoulder out from under her.
She fell to the ground face-first. He had to restrain the laughter threatening to escape his lips.
"H-huh? W-where am I?" White mumbled, blinking her dreary eyes open.
"Don't play the amnesiac card! You know darn well you just went to sleep!" Black reminded her.
"...Oh, yeah. Sorry if I slept too long. What time is it?" she yawned, standing up straight and stretching her arms behind her head.
"Since we're not in the city yet, how should I know? Let's go!" Black ordered her, getting up, as well, and starting to follow the dirt path.
White shrugged and began to follow him.
"...Say, what kind of shampoo do you use?" Black asked her after a bit of silence.
"Huh? Where did that come from?" White responded.
"W-well...w-when you were sleeping...I-I noticed your h-hair was...s-soft..." Black said, unable to control his stutter.
She stared at him for a bit, then answered: "I forgot."
"You forgot?! Ugh! I don't believe you!"
"Why? You wanted to try it or something? I might have it in my bag...I swiped it from the last Pokemon Center we visited."
Black didn't have a reply. He wasn't about to tell her that her hair smelled nice, too. She'd always had nice hair. And nice eyes. In fact, she was sorta pretty. Not exactly the brightest star in the sky, but smart in her own way.
Then again, White had no idea how Black thought of her. In fact, she didn't even care. All she cared about right then was of sleep. Her eyes were beginning to close even though she was walking.
Oh, well. She was still his friend. And maybe--hopefully--something more, as they got a little older...
Not like he'd ever tell her that, anyway.
