 Gaoling is a large town located within a mountain range in the southern Earth Kingdom, home to both the wealthy Bei Fong family and the Earth Rumble tournaments. An old, well-established city, Gaoling has a spectrum of people residing in it, ranging from the very rich to the very poor. The town was largely untouched by Sozin's War, due to it not being in a particularly strategic location. This is evidenced by the attitude of many of its residents. Gaoling lies in a valley with steep rock hillsides surrounding it. Most of the citizens inside the town are middle class people whose families have lived in the town for many generations. Master Yu's Earthbending Academy and the Earth Rumble Stadium is located here. On the outskirts of the town are very large, expansive estates where the wealthiest families such as the Bei Fongs live.

(Hey.... why aren't there any stories here?? It seems to be the perfect spot for my character to enter the world, but alas! there's no one around for her to interact with! Anyone interested?)

The Fire Lord was dressed in fine green Earth Kingdom clothes. Behind him, a disguised royal guardsman was dressed in similar expensive clothing, although unlike the Fire Lord, he was walking stiffly and cautiously, as if every one of the Earth Kingdom civilians around them were potential threats.
"Relax, Zeng," the Fire Lord said, amused. "I am here to see the sights, not to pick a fight."
Zeng, the royal bodyguard, nodded. "Yes, Your Majesty." When the Fire Lord glanced at him, however, he was still gazing around for possible threats.
Fire Lord Agagisan chuckled. "My bad. I shouldn't have said that to a royal bodyguard who is on duty, protecting the Fire Lord. Still, Mr. Zeng, I am fine, for there are few that can match my strength."
"Yes, Your Majesty."
Agagisan nodded, then turned away. He was not boasting, for he was not an arrogant man. He knew it to be the truth, as his lightning abilities had gotten stronger throughout the years. Aside from that, his pupils had strangely turned golden, which scared him a bit. According to his ministers, he had been 'accepted' by the spirits as the new Fire Lord. Agagisan sighed, not know what to believe.

Lanaya's eyes scanned the streets as she walked to the Earth-Kingdom tavern. She barely glanced at the sign above her head reading The Earth Quake.
"Naya! Where have you been?! You're two hours late!" Came a deep voice.
Chuckling to herself, Lanaya walked over to the back room door. Finding her employer within, she smiled. "Listen, Reng, I'm sorry. I ran into some trouble on the way over."
Concern showed on his face for an instant and he seemed about to say something.
"No, I'm fine," She cut in, "You know I can take care of myself. However, it did slow me down considerably. Has it been busy today?"
