Empris walked the streets of the grand Van Valiant City alone looking into the shops. As before she had her hood pulled low over her face so that none could see her clearly. Finding the shop she wanted a smile spread across her face as she entered to the familiar smell. Headed straight for the back the clerk stopped her at first until she peered from under the shadow of her hood with the red eyes of an albino. Recognizing the seer immediately he stepped aside with an apology and she proceeded to the room she once dwelled in still ready for her use. 'Nothing has changed here... But I have...'

Lief had moved in quietly, appearing from a sand cloud formation. His eyes had a bit of remorse and at this point, he was able to maintain his empathic connection, for now. He found Empris but didn't move towards her. "I bring a message, or rather, a warning. Our king has returned, and he has grown to become hungry for war. He plans to match into the centaur nation, hoping to gain control over it" he said. Unlike the first time they met, there was grief in his voice. "I have yet to find out what type of control he will have on the lands, but I do know this, my king is hungry for war, hungry to fight and shed blood. He's trying to receive help from the wolf nation. I figured I would give you a warning."

Empris stood with her back to Lief as he spoke. She had seen this not long before he entered. As much as she felt she should hate Lief she couldn't. He was an empath like herself. When she turned tears were in her eyes though they had not fallen yet. "I have seen the fires of war which you speak. It weighs heavily on my soul for many lives will be lost to the lust of your king."She had met Liefs eyes with her tear filled ones but could not keep to his gaze. She let her eyes fall. Her wish of seen the end of the war with her own eyes was for naught.

"The wolf nation's higher ups, the leaders that is, doesn't feel right about marching into neutral territory. Tell me, what do you see is evil, or rather, what is evil? I have seen many souls lost, and I have felt the scars left on their loved ones as well. I have killed others in war and felt the agony of their comrades to see each other fall. I have partaken in wars, seeing good, evil, neutral in my eyes, and felt them in the hearts of different eyes. I have put together battle plans, weighed the lives of others, and fought other generals who have done the same as I." There was something in his eyes that spoke of his soul. It was fear that a warrior would have. Not the fear of death, not the fear of losing his comrades, not the fear of losing, but the fear that he had lost his meaning of a warrior. Here stood a general who was just another battle field of a soldier's grave.

With an aching heart and wilting soul, Empris raised her eyes once more. Crossing the room she rested a hand gently on Liefs cheek looking into his eyes. She could feel the turmoil within him, and what he had felt before their meeting, seeing the things of his past through their connection. It was a crushing sensation that made every fiber of her being want to give way. But she stood strong in spit of it and spoke in almost whispers. "Evil is the want, desire, of taking what does not belong to one. The shedding of innocent blood, the loneliness and desolation of war, the hurt, anger, sadness, everything that drives one to madness. This is evil and the product of in my eyes, Lief. What is it to you who will be in the forefront of battle? What do you fight for, empath?"

"Because..." he choked out, "because there is some part of me...something trying to cling, but I don't know what. I remember before, when I served another man. I would give my life for him, and he taught me that one should fight to protect, to bring life for another day, never to prove power or kill for the sake of killing. I believed that, so I followed my nation's King, fighting and serving under him. Now, I don't know what I'm fighting for." he said painfully. He could sense his empathic connection slipping from his control, slowly opening up and feeling the agony in the city. What hurt him the most was that he was able to find his own agony, hitting him as static feedback.

Tears overflowed Empris' eyes as she listened and felt silently. Softly she rubbed her thumb on his cheek caressing it. Her arm shook slightly with the effort to stay on her feet and try to hold her feelings from Lief in vain. "Feel them, Lief. Feel them as I do and have done this life. You asked me before what I fought for. I stand and fight to protect just as you once did. Brother, hear this. We feel and see as no others can. Do not let that swallow your soul, your heart. You will find your strength once more." The once heart wrenching sadness and grief Empris felt changed. Still tainted with grief, compassion, understanding, and a sort of adoration flowed through her amongst the pain of her nation. As tears slowed and dried in salty lines the tiniest traces of a smile lighted her face.
