My fav. is obviously Light Yagami. And the time when I think he is at his best is when he regains his memories but b4 he has Teru Mikamu doing the killing.
Basically between the regaining of his memories and L's Death.

Since I already posted my favorite I post the rest of my top 5 fav. DN characters:
1) Light Yagami (In Between when He got back his memories and when he gave the Jap. Task Force his DN)
2) Misa Amane (I hate how Light forced her to give away her DN and how he cheated on her with that reporter)
3) Ryuk (He is just awesome)
4) L Lawliet (I love when he finally dies. I was so pumped up when he finally died and Light got another DN)
5) Rem (I think Light should've manipulated him more than he did. He should've had Misa request for Rem to give Light his time/day/month/year of his death so that Light could become immune to DNs)
