Alex Theme
From Silent Hill: Homecoming Original Soundtracks
Composed by: Akira Yamaoka
Arranged by: Akira Yamaoka
Written by: Joe Romersa
Performed by: Mary Elizabeth McGlynn

Lyrics
It started long before me...
I never saw it coming...

The distance, the promise...
A state of isolation...

And in my darkest nightmare,
Things that I can't remember...

The answer, is drowning, this pain will last forever.

My father...
His duty...
His orders...
My brother...
The promise...
The breaking...
Rejection...
Deception...
Reflection...
Conception...
The listening...
The torture...
The madness...
The sadness...
Can this be?
Or is it?

The shadow cast before me...
A walk inside your circle...

Protect me...
Correct me...
You got your orders, soldier...

Inside my head is humming...
Sometimes I hear them coming...

The power...
Believing...
The hate I hate believing...

Where is this?
It can't be...
Who are you?
I know you...
You wouldn't...
Or would you?
Don't fight me!
Ignite me!
My trigger...
Your finger...
Your darkness...
I know it...
Come forward!
I've seen it!
I mean it!

Your power, is over!

I've come to change the order!
My training, is perfect!

I'm back, again, your promise, is broken!
I drank your sacred water, my mission, is holy!
I'm back.

This song strikes me deeply in its lyrics. You need not know what the words mean to feel the meaning behind it. Akira Yamaoka is truly a musical god. He combines a simple beat, stunning lyrics, and a few background synths to achieve this masterpiece.

Looking at specific parts of the song, a sense of romance can be achieved from the lyrics. Looking at other parts gives that sense of hopelessness you feel in your deepest nightmare.

List yours favorite songs with the lyrics, and let's get this thread on a roll.

Quote:
Remember when you were young,
You shone like the sun.

Shine on you crazy diamond.

Now there's a look in your eyes,
Like black holes in the sky.

Shine on you crazy diamond.

You were caught on the crossfire
Of childhood and stardom,
Blown on the steel breeze.

Come on you target for faraway laughter,
Come on you stranger, you legend, you martyr, and shine!

You reached for the secret too soon,
You cried for the moon.

Shine on you crazy diamond.
Threatened by shadows at night,
And exposed in the light.

Shine on you crazy diamond.

Well you wore out your welcome
With random precision,
Rode on the steel breeze.

Come on you raver, you seer of visions,
Come on you painter, you piper, you prisoner, and shine!

Pink Floyd's Shine on You Crazy Diamond. It's always so much about getting past what has knocked one down, and then pushing through it.

Not to mention that it has some of the BEST instrumentation EVAR.
TELL ME THAT'S NOT FULL OF WIN!
Just makes you want to love.

Quote:
Once upon a time
Not so long ago
Tommy used to work on the docks
Union's been on strike
He's down on his luck...it's tough, so tough

Gina works the diner all day
Working for her man, she brings home her pay
For love - for love

She says: We've got to hold on to what we've got
'Cause it doesn't make a difference
If we make it or not
We've got each other and that's a lot
For love - we'll give it a shot

We're half way there
Livin' on a prayer
Take my hand and we'll make it - I swear
Livin' on a prayer

Tommy got his six string in hock
Now he's holding in what he used
To make it talk - so tough, it's tough

Gina dreams of running away
When she cries in the night
Tommy whispers: Baby it's okay, someday
We've got to hold on to what we've got
'Cause it doesn't make a difference
If we make it or not
We've got each other and that's a lot
For love - we'll give it a shot

We're half way there
Livin' on a prayer
Take my hand and we'll make it - I swear
Livin' on a prayer
We've got to hold on ready or not
You live for the fight when it's all that you've got
We're half way there
Livin' on a prayer
Take my hand and we'll make it - I swear
Livin' on a prayer

Living On A Prayer by Bon Jovi.

It's such a beautiful song about a couple who struggling but shows that with love and fighting against the oddest, anything can be possible. At least that is my view on the song anyways.

I change favorite songs all the time xD

Currently, what's fueling my spirits is probably...
"Kaze Ni Naru" from The Cat Returns

The English translation:

Quote:
Close the forgotten eyes and retrieve the love song
Reach out your hand hidden in the blue sky one more time

Don't forget, soon I'll be by your side all the time
Even when at dawn you gaze at the starry sky alone

Don't let your only heart become darkened by sadness
I'll change your sighs into the spring breeze

I ride my bike fast up the sunny hill
Carrying the memories I forgot with you

Lalalalala, I hum, staining my lips
The happiness I've found with you is like a flower

Open the forgotten window; the love song starts to run
Hold up the hand entrusted to the blue sky one more time

I won't forget that soon you'll be by my side all the time
Even on the tomorrows when wavering tears shine in the starry sky

Embracing that lone word in my heart
For your sake, I am now blown on by the spring breeze

I ride my bike fast up the sunny hill
Carrying the promise I made with you

Lalalalala, I hum, staining my lips
The happiness I've found with you is like a prayer

I ride my bike fast up the sunny hill
Carrying the promise I made with you

Lalalalala, I hum, staining my lips
The happiness I've found with you is like a prayer

The happiness I've found with you is like a prayer.

I like it in a weird way, since it was a favorite song of both my and my recently left ex-boyfriend, who are still in a sort of weirdly close friendship and may one day return to each other if circumstances get better.

Plus it's very pretty to listen to and makes me reminisce of our happier days and how I feel flying solo.
