Mirror mirror hanging on my bathroom wall
Is there such a thing as "beauty" after all?
Everything in the media claims that there is
But i'm afraid that it's been stretched see-through thin.
The models prance on mile long legs
And look at you with big bright eyes in their heads,
Faces painted in products from the top of the line
So they look less human and more divine.
The bodies of women are made to look frail
While overgrown muscles make those of a male,
Even they're shown lies on their plasma screens
Of others with six-packs standing tall and lean.
To carry an ounce of fat has become a sin
In a world now ruled by the definition of thin,
Until young children cry for their minor imperfections
All because of thier society's sick obsession.
Tell us to just pop a pill or cut back on food
How our hair isn't silky and our skin not smooth,
As the skeletons continue to chatter on
Or make fun of those not made like a premium doll.
I don't pile on make-up, primp, pluck, or press
Nor own designer brands or a thousand dollar dress,
So mirror mirror will you tell me please
If true beauty is achievable for a girl like me?
