In response to Blanche d'Alpuget's new bio of Hakwke (which is seemingly unkind to Keating), P.J. had this to say:

Oh wow, burn.
I assume it's valid since it came from news.com.au.
Now I hope he DOES write a book, just not spitefully and Latham-Styled.

Keating's speech writer, Don Watson, wrote a pretty good in-depth look at his prime ministership in Recollections Of A Bleeding Heart, but I agree that a book written by Keating himself would be pretty great.
As far as the Hawke Prime Ministership goes, I've always maintained that Bob was the face of the operation but Paul was the brains. I honestly can't think of any major achievements of the 1983-1991 Gov't other than the economic reforms, which of course Keating must recieve the lion's share of the credit for. So it's no surprise that Keating's pissed at Hawkey and Blanche.
